+TheConaways
Can someone help me with a benchmark? While running around downtown Augusta, GA, today, I ran across this benchmark at the corner of Greene and 8th Streets. It's not a USGS disk, but looks like it was put there by the contractor who put down the sidewalk. Click here for bigger images. Can someone tell me what this thing is and how to find more info on it? Thanks, Aaron Link to comment
+Jake39
Just a contractor I.D. plate usually placed when the sidewalk was poured. Most sidewalks will only have a name and year embossed directly into the concrete at intersections or at the end of their "contracted" walks. F.Y.I - If you want to know when the roads were origionally constructed, look at the numbers on the manhole covers in the middle of the street. Link to comment
