+twostar
So my Magellan SporTrak Color keeps reseting after a few seconds, usually doesn't get past the first screen. I tried a hard reset with the - + and GOTO keys. That puts me into a test mode and checks the serial port at various speeds. That works. But once done it goes back into resetting. I connected the serial cable up and took a read, here's what the unit is telling me: ******** FATAL ERROR EXIT ******** REGISTERS: (EPC & EPSR may be invalid if R0 not in RAM) EPC=0001964C EPSR=80110001 R0 =2C059500 R1 =00000028 R2 =00000002 R3 =0003AEF4 R4 =00000011 R5 =54442D18 R6 =000007FF R7 =00000000 R8 =43FCACB3 R9 =00000000 R10=400921FB R11=54442D18 R12=43F2413B R13=F8D59229 R14=2C059520 R15=2D005408 STACK: (May be garbage if not in RAM) 2C059500: C0506918 the stack keeps going with a bunch of garbage until it resets again. I sent a request in but was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I'm leaving for europe in a week and wanted this unit working so I can geocache while there. I even ordered new USA geocoins and travel bug tags. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment
+embra
From power off, try holding down GOTO and NAV and tap the PWR button. In a couple of seconds you should see a box pop up with "00" inside of it. At this point, release GOTO and NAV. Use the direction pad to change the "00" to "32" to clear all memory, entering the necessary input to get past the warnings. Reinitialize and see if it makes any difference. If you can't do something like the above, you'll probably need to return it for repair. It might be worth trying a firmware reinstall, I suppose. I think 99 is the code to put you into software upload mode. Quote Link to comment
+twostar
Thanks for the idea, I can get into that screen but it freezes there and won't let me modify the numbers. I also got it to do a screen test, key pad, INIT, RF, Init fails saying "No NMEA" RF fails also, but I'm inside. BTW to do the big test hold down - and + on boot. kinda cool except still not doing a good boot. Quote Link to comment
+embra
The last thing I can think to try is power on pressing Enter - Menu - Pwr at the same time. That is supposed to force a clear all memory. However, it sounds like your firmware may be corrupted. Quote Link to comment
RadRab
did you ever get this fixed? i have a unit that's doing the same thing. it works perfectly, for about 6-7 seconds before it resets again. i know it was dropped, and the problem started after that...
