Cache Bandicoots
Hi I live in London & I have managed to get a lock on WAAS 33 on my eTrex Legend. I believe I should be able to also see WAAS 44 & maybe WAAS 35. Is there any way that I can get my eTRex Legend to reload the almanac? Now it has found 33, it doesn't seem to want to look for any others. (Thanks to Zedd10 for your help so far) Many thanks Quote Link to comment

lakeuk
I get view of WAAS sats 33 / 37 up in the lakes, I expect you'll get the same down in London but I don't think you'll get any others. To get the almanac it's simple get a clear view of the southern sky so you get a good signal for sat 33 or 37 and wait up to 30mins till all the D's appear against all the other satellites. If you use the gps in the same location later on with clear southern view then you should see the D's appear quite quickly, if you move quite a distance without using the gps then it'll take longer for the gps to get locked on 33 or 37 and get the latest waas details Note WAAS in still in experimental stage Quote Link to comment
+Rotareneg
You'll have to reset the GPS to do that. First, read this: http://www.gpsinformation.org/dale/dgps.htm#waas In Europe you'll be using EGNOS, not WAAS, so you don't want 35. (both work the same, but broadcast information specific to the intended areas of reception.) Next, save any waypoints, routes, or tracks to your computer with whatever software you're comforatable with and make note of any settings you want to preserve as they'll all be wiped when you reset the GPS. When you're ready to reset turn the Legend off, and then hold down the page button, the up button, the "enter" button (the click stick) AND the power button. Hold them until the GPS turns on, in roughly 5 seconds. Now you'll need to let the GPS download the GPS and EGNOS almanacs. Make sure you turn WAAS/EGNOS back on the settings, then sit the GPS somewhere with a clear view of the sky, partiularly to the south, and let it sit for 15 minutes. If you watch the display the last two channels should begin scanning for SVs with numbers 32 and up after a little while. Assuming the EGNOS SVs are not in some test mode that the GPS is set to ignore, it should pick up 33 and continue scanning until it finds 37 or 44. +Rotareneg
Note WAAS in still in experimental stage Nope, WAAS is fully functional. EGNOS, the European equivalent, is still in testing. Edited February 11, 2006 by Rotareneg Quote Link to comment
