acorcoran
New entrant into the Geocaching realm would like to purchase a Legend C or Vista C...can get on Amazon and get a new one, but figured I'd see if I could save some dollars. Quote Link to comment
spitfire927
just my opinion, but you dont need a legend c for geocaching. B&W is fine because you will be using the goto feature more than anything, which is just an arrow, and arrows dont have to be in color. I have a legend, and it works just great for geocaching. if you want one with special features get a rhino. it can transfer your location to another rhino if you are caching with a friend. +the hermit crabs
The Legend C & Vista C have newer-style antenna than their old B&W counterparts, and so have noticeably better reception (faster to acquire satellites, holds a lock better under tree cover). We've had both, and if I were starting over I'd definitely go for the C. (And the color screen is not just prettier, it's much easier to see in all lighting conditions.) My only gripe is that the C models only hold 500 waypoints while the B&W ones hold 1000. Quote Link to comment
+SwampYankee
I have the Legend C and the Yellow Etrex basic... I use the Yellow more than the Legend C at this point. I don't need my glasses on to see and follow the Yellow GoTo screen and arrows. I do need them on to see the Legend C. Just drawn finer and detail and the screen is slightly smaller. The boht have features that are great, but just finding Geocaches, the b & W screens are fine. Larger would be my next choice in screen size. I'm pretty new at this and those are my feelings at this point. I buy used on EBAY and sort them out here as to whats good and bad for me.....later I can sell them when I find what suits me the best. Your needs may be way different than mine. I really go the Legend C for the auto mapping as we travel alot.....But it does the job, just these eyes are to old.... I'm still fighting the glasses on, glasses off routine in the woods. good luck SwampYankee Quote Link to comment
