+hogrod
not exactly sure, but i just bought a gps18 usb with cityselect V7 for $108 from tigergps.com. unless you are getting a really good deal, i would consider just buying it with the newer software. No receipt is needed. Garmin will send out an update DVD to anyone who asks, but it will only work if there's already a previous version of the mapping program already installed. You then need to unlock the update and during that process the program will check when you first unlocked the previous version. If it was after the nominal announcement date of the new version then the new unlock code is provided free of charge. If it was before the announcement date than you'd be charged for the unlock. In your case you'd be getting the GPS 18 with CitySelect v6 and you'd also request an update DVD to v7 from Garmin (free of charge) as specified at: http://www.garmin.com/support/faqs/faq.jsp...ography〈=en Then after you install and unlock your v6 CitySelect you'd run the update DVD and get a free unlock for it (since the announcement date was June 1st, 2005).
