Sam Kitty
I would love to have a map or mapping program to use with my caching. At present we have to find the zip of our destination and then research. We would love something to help us find caches along the route. Quote Link to comment
El Diablo
If you buy a membership to the site it gives you a mapping program. El Diablo Quote Link to comment
Chuy!
The website maps will not help with what I think you are asking for. The Google Earth link will only show one cache, and the geocaching.com maps is small and impractical for printing. You need software that allows you to download from your GPS. Type "GPS mapping" in Google and you'll get lots of available software. MetroGuide is software designed to download maps into the Legend and Vista, but you can use it as standalone for mapping or to connect to a Garmin GPS for auto-routing. MetroGuide is only about $85 and gives you detailed maps of the USA. You can find it cheaper on Ebay. I'm not sure about Magellan's MapSend; probably works in similar fashion. Google Earth is free, but you have to enter the coords one at a time unless you purchase the upgrade. Quote Link to comment
Night Stalker
We really need to know which GPS you own. Not all GPS units have the memory to enable downloading maps. Maps loaded on your GPS are proprietary so we need to know in order to tell you what is available. Quote Link to comment
Poidawg
I have read of many people using a PDA to download maps and waypoints and to auto route trips in order to find caches along the way...Check out the software forums. Quote Link to comment
