jtermini30 Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 okay, some of you answered a few of my questions last round and I have done everything asked of me and it appears to be okay. I noticed the software version on my current unit is 2.03.... very old and an update does not appear to be available. Does anyone have the update they can share or do you know where I can get it? Spinny Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 Have you tried here: Garmin eTrex software update page Quote
jtermini30 Posted January 4, 2006 Author Posted January 4, 2006 yes, it just will not finish the process. Quote
+allory Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 it is available in the archives at: http://www.gpsinformation.org/perry/etrex/basic/ but if you're having trouble getting it to work from the garmin archive you may not do any better there. Quote
Spinny Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 I noticed there were two updates there, one for 2.14 and one for 3.something that said it was for 3.0 and up. Did you try the 2.14 update, the 3.something one, or both? If your system is currently at 2.03 then 2.14 might be as far as the updates will take you. Failing that I'd call their tech support line and ask about upgrade paths. Good luck! Quote
+geognerd Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 I'm not a Garmin expert, but there are two versions of the yellow eTrex. The newer version is WAAS capable and the older one is not. From what I understand, the older one cannot become WAAS capable via a firmware update. Since there are two versions of the yellow eTrex, there will be two separate firmwares for them. v2.14 is probably as far as you can go, since it sounds like you have an "old" yellow eTrex. Quote
+Sputnik 57 Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 You can only upgrade 2.xx software to 2.14. And of course you need a cable to connect your etrex to the computer. This may sound too obvious, but do you have a cable? The yellow etrex does not come with one, but you can get them from on-line merchants for about $15 I think. Quote
