+cudlecub
I'm having one of those "I knew better than to do that" situations. To correct my problem and erase the topo maps on my gpsmap 76c I'm trying to find out how to do a system restart / hard boot of my unit to erase everything from it's memory. Does anyone know how to do this? Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
Yep. Question 5 in the Setup Section of the FAQ: Hold ENTR and PAGE while powering up to master reset the unit. Quote Link to comment
+cudlecub
Thanks, I knew being in a hurry trying to rush would have me overlooking something and sure enough it did. Many thanks for the help. Quote Link to comment
peter
Sputnik 57 gave the correct reset sequence, but you mentioned wanting to delete the Topo maps which is not accomplished with a reset. Usually there's no need to delete maps since loading new ones will automatically clear out the old ones and you can always toggle off the display of any maps you don't want to see. So I'd suggest leaving the topo maps in there. But if you really want to get rid of them you can go to the 76c firmware update page on Garmin's website and look for the Marine POI Database in the upper righthand part of the page. That'll reload exactly what was on the 76c map memory when it shipped from the factory and in the process it'll clear out any maps that were previously loaded. Quote Link to comment
