That's the street price from vendors selling new, unopened units and software with full factory warranty. You might get more selling this on eBay to someone who doesn't check the going rates, but users here will expect better prices and room for haggling.

You must think people are stupid. I see you just joined the other day, just to post your for sale message. Did you read any of the other for sale ads here, or anything in the other forums?

Nobody is going to offer anything close to new product pricing for a used or refurb unit. Even if your GPS is in new packaging, it's a manufacturer's replacement unit. The software & card reader are used. And it's not going to come with a vendor's proof of purchase - so the warranty will be questionable.

You might do better on eBay or your local classifieds - instead of a forum like this one where many of us routinely shop and compare prices of these things. Best of luck to you though!

Hey Lee_rimar

I don't think njlynch1 joined or put his unit for sale just to be insulted by the likes of you.

A polite message would suffice, besides finding 5 caches in 4 and a half years isn't stunning performance, do you just spend your days on the forums insulting people or do you actually do any caching ?

Thank you tttedzeins I am not out to rip any one off. I was told about the geocaching thing not to long ago am definitely interested in giving it a try. It was suggested to me to try selling my GPS here. I paid 299.99 for the unit and accessories and did not think that it was totally unreasonable but had I known that the prices are cheaper elsewhere I would have not posted it at that price. lee_rimar, I will take your advice and list it on eBay.

Yup, that's what I'm here for, the insults and the jibes :P

Actually, I don't think I insulted him personally. I intentionally razzed his pricing - same as vendors' new street price, give or take shipping costs - for a secondhand unit. But if you still think my comments insulting or my records of finds unimpressive, there's not much I can do about that.

As for judging someone by number of finds, that's also a bit daft. There are other things people do with GPSRs. I use mine for biking, hiking, and travelling. I participate in these forums to exchange info with others who know something about GPSRs.

This sometimes includes "what's a good price" and "what's it worth" info. But most of my posts have to do with usability issues, model comparisons, etc. Sometimes I even write niche software or solve problems for other users.

Is that good enough for you? Golly, I really hope so, because I am so very, very impressed by everything you say and do ... oh wait, no I'm not :(

Thanks I was not sure of asking price I just checked a local retailer and cabelas. So I should have done a better job with my home work. Do those prices that you quated include shipping and handling? My price is not set in stone.

I dunno, lee_rimar. Your comments read pretty obnoxious to me as well. njlynch1 admitted he wasn't sure of a price, apologized for not doing more homework before asking his question, and said he was willing to change his price based on what he'd learned and based on whatever new information you might provide regarding shipping and handling. You chose to respond to that with sarcasm and some degree of disbelief. As tttedzeins said, why not just give the guy a straight, helpful (and polite) answer? Wouldn't you want the same treatment? :(

Well I would like to know more about GPSs as well I would like to upgrade mine to a color screen with electronic compass. I use mine more for hunting and Caching but am having a hard time finding out which one is the best bang for the buck so to speak. I was told that the New Hunter Ifinder has software that will allow you to put boarders on the unit so you are able to tell say on state land or unposted private land that you may have crossed over property lines it you have already put the boundaries in place. I am not sure if this is true or not. The map create software seemed limited as to what you could do with it. Any help would be great Thanks.

You're right. The "You must think people are stupid" remark was crabby and rude, and I could have worded it differently. Will be more careful next time.

But I stand by everything else I've said in this thread. Including the substance behind those six poorly chosen words: Asking so close to "new" product price for a secondhand unit is ... not smart? not sensitive to the market? setting yourself up for disappointment? daft? Pick a phrasing you think is polite enough, and I'll keep it mind for next time.

I'll stand by my record as a helpful member of this community. And sometimes that includes saying things people don't like no matter how carefully phrased.

Look lee_rimar You got your point across that you are perfect and that You are all knowing and have never made a mistake. UNDERSTOOD! I would not exactly call you stupid but some other choice words come to mind. I on the other had will keep them to myself, and I am big enough to say I made a mistake and that I would be willing to change the price. But from the two sources in my small little world that I checked I was not out of line. So when you are out saving the world I hope someone gives you a big pat on the back or would your hand already be in the way.
