Creating Cache Descriptions

I am working on creating my first cache, and I'm a little unsure of what the difference is between the Short Description & the Long Description. Can someone differentiate them for me?

Short description is the shorter one. Long decription is the longer one.

Usually the short description has a quick bit about the container or the location or really anything that might make the person want to read more... or move on.

 

The long description would go into more detail about the cache.

 

Its pretty open to what ever you want to do with it.

I guess I don't understand where they are displayed - are they just stacked on top of each other, does the short only show up if are not logged in, then the long one when you are?

The short description is the hanging indent on the cache description page that is usually a sentence.

 

The long description is the indented block of info that is usually a paragraph.

I have to admit that the in your post and your "joined" date made me post just the first two lines... I thought you were being a smart apple.

 

But then I did quick profile check only to see you did in fact not have any cache hides (and not a bazillion finds either) which lead me to quickly edit my post... as I realised you were being serious. Sorry.

 

Either way, I probably deserve a good smackin'

Yeah, I cache in spurts, and I've never had the opportunity to actually hide one. Not a numbers guy, but I've loved most of the caches I've been to, even if I've DNF 'em. It's the fresh air and sights that get me.
