+wooliebear Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I have change the custom icons in c:\documents and settiings\Administrator\My Documents\My garmin\custom waypoint symbols to the icons I want to use. I have check in mapsource and they are indeed there. My problem is this, I use GSAK and I have followed the instructions for entering custom icons in GSAK through the garminother.txt file. From here I can select from the drop down menu which icons I can choose. As recomended I have used the label 'Custom 0'. When I try to export using the mapsource mps file I get an error. Has anyone been able to get this to work? Please tell me where I have gone wrong. Thanks Luke Quote
robertlipe Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Mapsource .mps format doesn't support custom icons. You can use those icons when sending directly to the receivers. Quote
+wooliebear Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 Ok, I got that understood. But Mapsource accepts the custom Icon code from a .gdb file, version 2. Is there a way to create this type of file in GSAK? Thanks Luke Quote
robertlipe Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 See question #3 at http://gpsbabel.org/FAQ.html If you're really trying to get custom icons into Mapsource and not the receiver itself, GPX is probably more likely to satisfy than .mps. Quote
+rodz Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I had this issue. Two options I found. As robertlipe said, GPX export from GSAK and import into Mapsource. Or send to GPSr from GSAK and then download from GPSr directly into Mapsource. Works for me with Legend C. Quote
