  12. Thought I'd post this here for the community-- I bought a Oregon, so this has just been sitting on a shelf. Still in original box with all the paperwork and SD card. I still think the 60CSX is the best GPS for geocaching ever made, but I like my Oregon for my hiking habit. Here's the link http://www.ebay.com/itm/230829936929?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Good luck, SHOOT
  13. They replaced the battery on your II+ ??? I sent them an e-mail (last month) about replacing the battery on my III and they replied they no longer supported the III or had the proper replacement batteries available.
  14. I was fortunate enough to spend the week doing caches with a lot of buddies and family. There were quite a few Garmin III and III+ there along with a few V's. And a plethora of other devices. Of course I couldn't help but open up the VI discussion. I decided if it was to be built we were going to have to design it. Here's the concensus from our limited brainpower. -Must remain in original form and case -Add USB port with rainproof cover - DON'T change the power connector -Color display -More memory -Faster processor -MAYBE attempt internal antenna, and leave BNC option on back as well. would allow for compact carry. -Allow switching between multiple mapsets; topo vs streets -MAYBE removeable memory (If you've ever looked inside the case, it is kind of full) plus I like the waterproof durability of the garmin case -Bring back the battery meter from the III, the one on the V is a waste -Geocaching friendly of course-special symbols and options just for us. -Add a lanyard point that is not hooked to the battery cover - the other end screams for a lanyard point -Ability to power back up on same screen as when it was powered down -Keep the key layout as close as possible to the III and V - ANYBODY ELSE ?
  15. I have that exact setup for a Garmin 2610 still in the bags. I'm still using the suction cup with a ram mount and cradle for my big 2610 and it works great. I mount it high under the rear view mirror and it holds really well. I noticed the flexible arm has a smaller suction cup with it, maybe 3". I'm currently using a much bigger one, more like 4". Maybe I'll toss my GArmin V on the extra mount. Shootist
  16. As I was going through my collection of Garmin GPS's last week I noticed one was misssing. I had the GARMIN GPS II, and II plus. Both of the III's were there...my GPS V is in my cache bag. Then there is the empty spot on the mantle...OH YEA, THAT IS STILL WAITING FOR THE VI TO COME OUT !!! So off to the Garmin website I went to once again request the VI be put into production for its loyal fans. Of course I requested it be in color and have a ton of memory. And naturally the biggest concern was that it remain in its original case and form...built like a tank. So, who elsewants to see the VI? Who knows, maybe Santa will have it by next year. Happy holidays to all. Shootist
  17. Hey, glad everything worked out for you. Thanks a lot for the internal pics; looks like I should be able to open up a III and rig up some sort of internal replacement battery, or maybe a capacitor. I was afraid the battery was soldered directly to the board, but with the leads attached I have a lot of possibilities. Shootist
  18. I may be interested in it for parts if he wants to part with it. Shootist
  19. As long as you have it apart...can you post a pic of the lithium battery location. I've got a few III's in my family, all with bad internal batteries. Garmin no longer has parts for repair, and I figured I might be able to rig up a suitable replacement. Good luck with the project. Shootist
  20. I'm also looking. proud owner of a new garmin 2610. missing the remote and 12 volt cables, and software...any help out there?
