  1. And isn't there an option to upgrade for a limited time rather than a full year?
  2. This is the only method she has tried.
  3. Yea.. we tried that too. from several computers as described in the original post.
  4. Thanks Yossarian, Yes, we tried that but will try again later today. No special characters in the password. That was the first thing we checked as that was what happened to me once.
  5. Hello. My friend Cheryl-MuggleN0More is having a problem logging into the forums. In fact she tells me that she has never been able to log in. She has verified her registration and has tried multiple times from several computers but the forums will not recognize either her username or password. while trying to diagnose the issue, we changer her password and logged back into the geocaching.com website with no problems. Then clicked on the link to the forums and attempted to login again using the new password only to be told that the username or password is incorrect. Using Windows 7 now but this has also been tried using Vista and XP. IE versions, 6, 7 and 8. I suspect that the issue is due to "-" in her username. Can this be resolved without changing the username?
  6. That's a bit of a pain when you're logging some 60 or 70 caches per sitting. None the less though, this method still also reqires you to purge logs not your own. I appreciate all the alternative suggestions but they do not acheive the desired goal. To be able to select a time period and reduce the size of the PQ being emailed to the requestor. The data exists, the queries exist, it's just a matter of adding filters to the query. (ok it may be more than that, I'm not a SQL Admin but I do know that streamlining the process can reduce load on the servers.)
  7. True however the "My Finds" PQ purges other logs making the data more specific as well as showing disabled, unpublished (retracted) and archived caches.
  8. First, my apologies if this has been discussed or requested before. My search tool familiarity is .. lacking. What I would like to be able to do is select a date range when generating my "My Finds" PQ. The reasoning for this is multi-faceted. As our numbers increase, so does the size of the PQ as well as the time required to transfer over a slow DSL connection. Being able to generate only the last week, month or year of finds may improve PQ generation and delivery. Since many of us tend to use stat page macro's with GSAK or other third party tool to create our pages after making whatever desired changes, FTF checkbox, personal notes, corrections etc... It would be really cool to be able to simply generate a PQ with recent data rather than old data that could cause grief if not very carefully imported. Thoughts?
  9. Can't this already be done at INATN? http://www.itsnotaboutthenumbers.com/compare_finds.php
  10. It's your trackable? delete the log!
  11. I've been seeing some VERY odd and random characters showing up in one of my cache descriptions. Specifically, GC1CFMH. Here's a clip: This shows up right at the end of the short description and when the cache page is refreshed in multiple browsers, the characters actually change. They are dynamic in nature and seem to be about some sort of Moroccan occupation. Some times there are only one or two characters, some times there are several lines. Any thoughts?
  12. A buddy of mine left a note on my FB page last night to let me know he and his cohort brought up Geocaching during the first half of their podcast last night! Ok... I was skeptical at first but all in all it wasn't bad! Of course Craig used my full name and not my Zop but thassok... He's a newbie http://tomandbatman.com/?p=129 Direct to podcast http://tomandbatman.com/podcasts/10-19-09-first-hour.mp3
  13. A good friend and geocaching buddy of mine recently passed away. What we are doing is picking up where he left off. His hides will be maintained by me and a small group of his caching friends who have bookmarked or are otherwise watching his active hides. Even his unfound, difficult unknown caches will be maintained with help from his family and his hand written notes on each. For his family's sake, we have requested that his caches not be adopted out because as soon as they are adopted by someone else, they are no longer a part of his geocaching history. His young daughter will this way have the opportunity to visit his account to read and remember. If/when the time comes that one of his caches can no longer be maintained and they have to be archived, it's likely that one of us will place a memorial cache nearby to bring others to a place where he once thought would be a nice place for another to enjoy.
  14. I'd rather trudge out to the middle of nowhere to find a geo pile than to pull up for a park & grab in an urban alley way only to find a 35MM partially covered in human feces.
  15. It's all been addressed obviously but I have to add my $0.02. For starters, this is an unknown since there are additional requirements to access the log. But the biggie here is that you assume that everyone has the descriptions with them while caching. Not everyone has a PDA, Smart Phone or newer GPS with all of that data. Many beginners are lucky to have a GPS with which they can send a LOC file to let alone a GPX file - assuming that they have a premium membership. Since many people (like yourself) do not appreciate unknown caches, they may filter out puzzle caches only to come upon one like this that is mislabeled as a traditional. So.. What are your options? Nuke the log? Sure.. since they couldn't sign the logbook in the first place. Archive the cache and post it properly? yes. Don't worry about it since this is only a game and each player will get out of it that they will? Not a bad idea... Have fun!
  16. Crud.. Wrong topic... Will adjust later.
  17. Those little plastic jewelers containers with the foam would be a great way to do that. Nicely displayed and you can tape them shut.

Interesting. I asked about this one as well quite some time ago and got somewhat less of an answer. What I'm wondering though if this issue could have been related to my log? If so, could I be contacted off-list? Some clarification may be in order.
  19. D'oh!!! Must have been the search tool... Moderator.. Ok to merge??
  20. Well, I've been thinking about this but all of my forum searches came up blank so... What are you're thoughts? For me: You know you're a cacher when__________ Your kids chew you out for leaving stckers in the dryer lint screen. When you see someone walking down the trail looking at their cell phone you do a double take. You're driving along with your non-caching friends and you have to bite your tongue when you pass by a cache. You begin to describe directions by stating take a left at the LPC over near the three stage multi. You see an attractive young lady and you think "Hmm I wonder what she'd look like in hiking boots and a camelbak" You actually ask the kids to save those candy tins! --- C'mon ya'all! Watchya got?
  21. I sent mine out carrying my Pathtag and it was stolen after only two or three hops. If you have one, you may just want to hang on to it.
  22. Usually that just means that I have to cache alone... As long as I have enough water, I'm game! Less muggles to deal with.
  23. Just a tip - One of these could make your caching experience more enjoyable: http://www.pikespeakii.com/catalog.html
  24. Assuming that the cache was rated appropriately, absolutely. If it was a 1x1 however you may have room to negotiate but if the difficulty/terrain rating was such that you knew that you couldn't just walk up and grab it then I too would delete your log. I may be mistaken but I believe the guidelines are pretty clear that to log a find on a traditional hide, you must first sign the log. Being fair minded however, if someone could genuinely convince me that because of my mis-rating of a cache one could not physically retreive the cache to sign the log, I would probably offer the option.
