  1. Hey folks, We have sent the cache event details in for approval. Hopefully it will be up tomorrow. Hope to see all of you on the 10th and 11th. Cheers, Tick & Nammie and Finnegan
  2. Hey folks.... Just a heads up that the next Go and Get Em in Ottawa will be the weekend after Labour Day. More details to follow the middle of August. Cheers, Tick & Nammie
  3. Have the local cachers in the Kingston area ever met up? We have organized 4 get togethers in Ottawa and they have been a huge success from 8 participating groups in 2002 to 37 groups (71 people) this past weekend. We will be in Kingston for our annual get away March 13th and if any of you are interested in meeting up at the Toucan for a pint or two and to swap geocaching stories etc. we would welcome the company. Cheers, Tick & Nammie

    Ammo Boxes

This is not an online contact but the Army Surplus store on the main drag in Kingston sells them for under $10.
  5. Oops.... wrong link.... As indicated by Dutchmaster here is the correct link: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=111841
  6. For those of you that have not noticed yet the next BIG Ottawa (and area) get together has been scheduled for Feb 28th (27th start) http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=111841 (originally, I had the wrong link here hence the comments below.) We are currently at: 34 adults and 9 children, if you plan to attend please post a note on the page so that we may adjust the reservation accordingly. Cheers, Tick & Nammie
  7. The URL for the cache is: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=68386
  8. Hey folks, It's time for the third Go and Get Em! We have set up the cache page but it has not been approved yet. The event will take place June 6th (night caching) and June 7th. The 6:00 p.m. meeting destination on the 7th will be our backyard. Cheers, Tick & Nammie
  9. I went to the pub yesterday to get the coordinates as the original ones were from a map. The new coors are: N 45 25.412 and W 75 41.754. The parking coors for free parking one street down from the pub in an indoor parking garage are: N45 25.358 and W 41. 723.
  10. Three points: 1. If you are hiding more than one cache and you have received a # from us, but have not hid your caches yet, please put the # in all of your caches to make it a little easier for the seekers. 2. The coordinates for the meeting location were taken from our map. We will go to the location this a.m. and ensure the coordinates are correct. We will also post a cell # so that if you are unsure of the meeting location you can call us. 3. We are currently at 31 psrticipants; with 15 or greater caches since some of you will be hiding more than one; therefore, this event will begin on Friday, November 15th at 6:00 p.m.
  11. Binthair did one of his puzzle caches for the last Go and Get Em, so don't see a problem, just keep in mind the length of time it may take to do since the time will be limited.
  12. We are still planning the event for the 16th and have confirmed a meeting location; however, we just have not created the cache page yet, will do so tonight or tomorrow.
  13. We will post the plan today. The only thing that is undecided is the end meeting location. The Barley Mow was fun last time but we thought perhaps we should try a different venue. Do you guys have any ideas?
  14. Hey fellow Ottawa Cachers & Neighbours! We are currently planning another get together, but have not posted it yet as we are finalizing details. However, I thought I would give you a heads up so that you could mark your calanders. The event will take place Saturday, November 16th and will run all day and into the evening, it will be similar to the last event, 'Go and Get em', since it was so successful, but will have some new twists and a new end location. Cheers, Nammie
  15. Oops! I posted a discussion on Hiding but never Seeking but I meant to state Seeking but never Hiding! I didn't know how to change the subject text so I thought I would start another discussion. If any of you know how to change the subject text I will delete this one and change the former. Question: How do you feel about those that have beeen geocaching for a long time, have found numberous caches, but have never hidden any? I have heard of the hide 1 for every 10 finds and thought that was a very good rule of thumb.
  16. In order for this sport to be long lived, those that seek should also hide. I personally find it frustrating when I see people geocaching for over one year and have still not hidden one! One policy I heard was to hide one cache for every 10 finds. Sounds like not too much to ask; however, if you look at the stats it isn't even close. What do you all think? 17. From looking at a previous log of the student's it looks like his name is Joel Binda, as for the school he stated that the T.L.K Party cache was close to his school, so if you REALLY wanted him to learn a lesson it probally wouldn't be too difficult to do so. The URL for the cache is: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=9612 Personally, I think he and the other members of their group would get a higher grade by explaining the challenges of the project and what they learned from it rather than just a straight forward hide and seek.
  18. Hey folks, Since the 22nd doesn't work for most of you, I will have to do a little investigation on park availability and get back to you in the next couple of weeks because the following weekend is Canada Day and I am then out of province until July 17th. Cheers, Nammie
  19. Hey folks, Tick and I have been thinking of organizing another Ottawa & area get togeather. We thought a fun event would be to hide a cache, then go back- country camping (15 - 30 minute walk in)Saturday evening and then on the return home the next day seek the caches which were hidden. Who would be interested? When? Where? I was thinking June 22nd and 23rd as that's the first weekend children are out of school and vacation for most folks will not start until after that. However, I just saw Malak's plan for a Montreal get togeather for the weekend before so maybe the date isn't perfect. As for the where???? In Frontenac Park about 2hrs and 15 minutes from Ottawa there are great back country sites which are about 20 minutes away from the parking lot, so there wouldn't be a problem for children. If we are going to go on the 22nd we will need to book very quickly, if it isn't already too late. Please reply with your thoughts, and if there is enough interest we can nail down the plans in the next 2-3 days. Cheers, Nammie
