  2. Hi everyone I like these unusual caches, and some of the ideas on this thread are great, I used an old PC disc drive fitted inside a hollowed out piece of wood, I removed lots of the origional componants and fitted a recording of the mission impossible theme, and used the open and close switches to open the tray and reveal a small logbook inside, this was then all put inside an old tree, its called secret squirrels logbook, GCJPX2. I love the idea of the screaming cache, all the best Major Tom & Family.

    Oz Maps

hello we have been in sydney area for a few days and intend traveling up the east coast.we have not got to where we intend to drop off some bugs yet,but could anyone help solve a problem.we are staying at some youth hostels so I used the multimap site that was mentioned here, so i would put in the postcode of the hostel then put in the lat and long that was on the bottom of the page into my etrex, and the nearest we can get to our hostels was 900 mtrs. its still set up with wgs 84 ,what do I need to set it to on my etrex so that using the multimap lat and long or other info on the page to get me to the door of the hostel. I can always change back to wgs84 for doing the caches. at the bottom of the multimap it give x and y . I hope I have explained the problem, many thaks major tom & family
  5. Hello I love this idea on cool cache containers, well I like building these and my latest is a a large piece of wood that has been cut out and a lid that is an off cut fits on top.when the lid is removed you will be looking at a computer cd drive there are the normal buttons, but I have re wired them so when you press one the cd tray slides out revealing a small log book held into the cd tray.another button pulls the cd tray back in ,and another button activates a recording of a familiar piece of music with a voice over of some instructions to follow, the responce has been quite good but time will tell how long the batteries will last . keep the ideas coming, how do I put a picture on this message ?? any help please. Major Tom and family
  6. I Hid a cache in the cliffs close to where I live, The container was fitted inside a 4 inch wide by 18 inch length of water pipe , underneath the container was a 12 volt battery powered actuator, the switches that started the actuator to raise or lower was connected via a cable to a brick with open & close printed on each switch, the brick was then turned over to hide the switches, the lid of the cahe container had a piece of wood screwed to it so that all you saw was a piece of wood on the clifftop, when someone found the brick and pressed the open switch the cache container moved out of the ground exposing the container. This got quite a few people visiting the cache. I have just collected it this week so as the batteries can be changed and it should be back in opperation soon. But it was great fun making it. Major tom

  9. I am going to Bath soon and will be doing a few caches when we get there,I can see that there are a couple of travel bugs close to me that need to be moved on,but I have already logged the cache before, but is it ok to go to the cache just to get the travel bug so that I can move it on to the Bath area,or is this not allowed Major tom & family
