  1. Thanks for the answers guys--it definately answers my questions I just did not know in the least bit what to expect! I think Webscouter has a great answer though--I just love the woods and walking through them (hopefully I can sort out the caches that are in the woods)! Now I'm ready for bed!
  2. OK--starting to understand--So if I want to place one and maybe put some new hand tools or something like that in there, then this would be considered a medium size cache--
  3. I am a little confused on this geocaching stuff. I just got my new Garmin 60CX and will probably start caching here soon but I haven't read much on what people find. I did post a thread in the Jeepforum.com for geocachers asking what I might find and I know every cache will be different but give me some ideas will ya? I know the object is to find them and sometimes take something and leave something but give me some experiences please! Is there money, food, letters etc etc etc--what will I find! Thanks! Sorry if it's a dumbquestion but I'm totally new to this--didn't even hear about geocaching up until a month ago! I had to Google it to find out what it was even! Old age maybe!
  4. OK, I need to understand this better. I got a new Garmin 60CX that of course came with the basemap installed. I installed City Nav and also it came with something like "Trips and Waypoints manager" or something like that--I left it at my office. So here is my question or statement sort of: I take it that only one of these can be on there at a time and only one will run at a time. I installed City Nav on the SD card so that is what I use. I take it City Nav is just a much more detailed map then the base map that comes installed on the unit and if you have City Nav, you should never really need or want the base map installed with the unit? Is this right? And then the "Trips and Waypoints manager (or whatever it's called") is also something useless if you have City Nav--is this right? Oh, and once you have City Nav on your PC. then you would use that if wanted to make waypoints and a bunch of other stuff you can transfer to your Garmin unit--is this right? This gets confusing to a new GPS'er but I think I have this staright--I hope!
  5. OK--just got my new Garmin 60CX and City Nav--just curious if I get a 512MB card, will it hold the midwest (3 states and New England states (lets say 5 states) or should I just get a 1 GB or maybe even 2 GB card?
  6. Perfect--that's what I needed to know--Thank you very much!
  7. I got that but it's only 8 digits and they need 25 so who knows! But thanks!
  8. OK--I take it I have to be connected to the internet for this--I was hopeing not because I can't with my personal lapyop at work! Just curious!
  9. Just received my City Nav and I need a 25 digit unlock code. The only unlock code that came with it is a 8 digit code. I mean it even says, "Your unlock codes are inside"--so I saved everything but it only has a 8 digit number. What's up with that! I see no numbers that will add to 25. When I go to the program on my laptop, it asked, "Do you have a 25 digit unlock code" or "Do you need to obtain a 25 digit code and redeem a 8 digit coupon code"--is this what I have to do since the code that came with my City Nav is only 8 dgits?"--they should have made this more confusing that's for sure!
  10. Just checking my updated profile this time-sorry!
  11. I'm near Lansing (little town called Dimondale) I am looking forward to starting this. I ordered City Navigator with the unit but I think that won't help me much in Geocaching will it? Like I said, totally new to this.
  12. Will be receiving my first GPS unit (Garmin 60CX) Monday and just started checking into this Geo-caching stuff. I never heard of it or knew was it was until I Googled it. I went to Geocaching.com and tried to pull up some info on a few around my area but have no idea how to start, what's the deal with downloading way points etc, etc, etc----wow, I have a lot to learn. And to think they didn't even have cordless telephones when I was a kid (I'm ONLY 46 years old). Technology! Unreal! Anybody? I REALLY wish I had a GPS unit when I got lost one day in the UP of Michigan while hunting and it started snowing like crazy and got dark in a hurry! I was lucky I made the right turn by guess and got out of there alive!
