  1. Really? Then why is the screen of my Motorola Razr unreadable in direct sunlight? My old Garmin 60 CS and my new 76CSx are very readable in direct sun.
  2. I got a Gilsson with the right angle plug. I thinks it's more practical and doesn't interfere with anything.
  3. The 76CS and 76CSx have a $100 rebate, but you may be too late because it's over on 07/09/06.
  4. I think I asked this in another thread but I lost track of it. I bought my 76CSx from Amazon and an got invoice from them. What do I send to Garmin to meet their demand for an original receipt? The invoice, or a copy of the e-mail they sent to verify the order?
  5. I want to know how to ad a map to it, how to invoke it, etc. I can't find anything in the manual.
  6. I've got the same problem. I installed CN v8 on one PC and tried to put it on a 2nd and got the same error message. How did you resolve it.
  7. I can't find anything in the manual.
  8. We're still wondering about Blue Chart.
  9. I'm glad I rid of my 60CS for a 76CSX. It doesn't look like it has an antenna.
  10. No offense, but you appear t be a disgruntled newbie. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I was one myself. I've had problems with unlock codes and Garmin has been very quick to respond with answers that work. Give them a chance.
  11. It's nearing the time limit (09 July, 2006) for my 76CSx rebate. They say they want the actually bar code from the box, completed coupon and the original receipt. I ordered mine from Amazon, so all I got was an invoice. Do I send that, or maybe a copy of the verification e-mail?
  12. This all sounds very good. The problem is, I can't figure out how to use the Topo map once it's on my 76CSx. It shows up in "Setup". Also, how do you load a mapset onto the mini SD card? Can't find where in the manual that explains how. Thanks.
  13. I think what I meant was that I don't see any elevation lines on the map page on the GPS.
  14. Still don't see any elavations. What did I do wrong? GPS is a Garmin 76CSx. I have CS 6 and Topo maps installed.
  15. I thought I had updated my 76CSx by downloading the firmware from Garmin and running "Updater", but it still showed ver 2.40. I downloaded "WebUpdater" and installed it. Ran it with the GPS hooked up with the USB cable and it updated me to ver 2.60. Didn't lose any maps or waypoints.
  16. I usually hold mine at a 45 degree angle with no problems.
  17. We recently went on a 9 day vacation from Austin, TX to the Grand Canyon. Every motel we stayed at had free Wi-Fi. We downloaded caches on a daily basis for the areas we planned to visit. It was really cool to finally get to cache out of state.
  18. Thanks, guys. I can't figure out how to use the Mini-card. I can't find anything in the manual about it.
  19. Apparently I ordered it 06/24/06. I still don't remember. Ought to get it tomorrow or the next day.
  20. I have one and I'm quite pleased with it. It's the users manual I'm not happy with. No where in it can I find how to use the Mini-SD memory card. Can anybody help? At least tell me what page to look at.
  21. My first GPS was a Magellan SporTrack Map, which I liked, except for the times I was with Garmin people who found the cache first. Not every time; just most. I got the Garmin 60CS when it first came out. Last month I got a Garmin76CSx. I absolutely love it. Never had a GPS that could obtain a good like inside the house or on the car's console. I let my brother have the 60 CS, but I still have the Maggie somewhere.
  22. Not a problem for me. My 14 YO daughter never complained either. At least not about the size of it. Only about being tired or too hot. I'm happy with mine, except for a couple of minor things. The "needle" on the compass page won't point to the cache when doing a "Goto" until you get around 50-60 ' from the cache. I just walk around until the numbers start going down and set off in that direction. The signal strength bars were to to single color and WAAS/RGNOS was turned off. Both were on with my 60CS. I just need to learn it bit more about it; such as turning on/off Blue Chart and Topo maps. Also how to use the mini-card. I read a lot about the different GPS models. I too was about to get the 60 CSx, but then I learned of the $100 rebate with the 76. I looked at the differences. All in all, it seemed to be the same unit with a different form factor and marine based. In the photos, the 76 looked bigger. When I read the measurements, .3"W x .1"H x.1"D bigger, I thought, "That's just slightly bigger." When I got it, I noticed it looks a lot bigger in the hand. I think part of it is an optical illusion. The hieght of the 60 includes the antenna which does not cover the top of the unit. I guess they needed the bigger surface area to make the 76 float...lol. So I got a 76 CSx for < $339 - Shipped and after the rebate. Not a bad deal. For $100 discount, I don't think it's too much bigger. So far, I like it. No big problems. Just a few issues. I have the same experience as the other poster with regards to the compass. The needle will point towards the cache. When I get < 100ft, it points directly at the cache. So far, it appears that accuracy is increased with WAAS disabled rather than enabled. Also, if autorouting is used to find the cache, the compass will keep pointing out to the street nearest to the cache. Some of these issues might be the same on other makes and models of GPSrs. I haven't been caching since I enabled WAAS. Maybe the compass works better now.
