  1. Hey there - rather new at this myself, but maybe I can help. If you have used the zip code search you know that the cache will be somewhere in the area served by that post office. If you have set your home coordinates and searched the area, then you know roughly how far and in what direction to find the cache. My best friend is Google Earth - on your account page there is a link to Google Earth that pops up little icons for hidden caches all over the world, so you can zoom in on your area of interest and see very near the cache. In a couple of cases, Icould have found the cache with nothing but Google Earth. Each cache listing has a map, and you can click on that and zoom in to get an idea where the cache is hidden. You should be able to drive or walk within a few hundred yards of the right spot with just those maps. Anything more exact than that requires using a GPS receiver - there are some available for under $100. You'll need to practice using the GPS to learn how to enter coordinates and set the machine to guide you to a "waypoint"
  2. I used to do land survey, way back when there was no GPS. A couple years ago I stumbled across a survey marker on Disney property, and laughed my butt off when I saw the mouse ears. I think you'll find that ol' Walt has dreamed up all kinds of other stuff to do, too!
