  1. Most excellent. OK, I'm giving this a bump, not just to get my post count up, but to ask a serious question: I have downloaded the new eXplorist (Eu) software and I'm planning to install it on my 210 tomorrow. Everyone who has done it seems happy; is anyone NOT happy? Is there any reason I SHOULDN'T do it?
  2. I am sorry to hear that Magellan is brain-dead... as I just bought a 210. As a Mac user, what are my options for installing the EU software update that everyone seems to like? Use the PC at work? We have a pretty restrictive filter, I'm not sure if it will work... but I can't run .exe files at home on the Mac.
  3. Hi maugin! I'm a newb geocacher, but a long time happy Mac user (over 15 years, no viruses). I suggest you look at this site: http://chimbisimo.googlepages.com/ chimbisimo outlines how to use GPSBabel+ to talk to a Magellan. I have an eXplorist 210 and it only took me about half an hour to download GPSBabel+, figure it out, and get data onto my GPSr. Go for the Mac!
  4. Well, I was able to get the waypoints into my eXplorist, but not the way you suggest... the "advanced" window seemed to do everything except actually put data on my GPSr. I used the "quick" window to manually change each one into a .gs file, then dragged them into the right folder in the remote volume. I'm sure I'm not doing something correctly yet; I'll work on it some more later this week. I'm just glad I have ANY way to talk to my eXplorist! Why isn't there a way to manually enter coordinates? Seems stupid.
  5. Wow - I just started using my GPSr yesterday, and I logged on here to ask this very question! Thanks, chimbisimo, for sharing your experience; I'm headed off to download GPSBabel+ right now. One more question: what are the odds it will work with an eXplorist 210? The file system and commands seem to be the same as your 500... Thanks from a neoMUG!
