  1. It's a truely sad day for Earth More to see, More to do
  2. There is a bogus coordinate cache near me on the cache page you have to solve roman numerals to get the coordinates. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=20590 It would be a great Idea if a cacher can submit the real qoordinates but not have them seen by cache hunters More to see, More to do
  3. never underestimate the power of human stupidity. At the airport I can observe human stupidity in action. I once saw a man try and take a baggage cart with a big bag and his puppy in a crate down a escalator he was pushing it straight down before he could heed my cry of "Don't do it" his bag and dog had slid to the bottom. His poor dog was terrified. I suggested to take the dog out a check on him, he said he was late for a plane and didn't have the time. At that point I told him that he could have avoided this if he had took the elevator which was right beside the escalators. He said something about not having time and took of his poor puppy still yelping in his cage uncomforted. some people should not own animals More to see, More to do

  8. I picked up the Alberta campground guide today and was flipping through it and I realized that it lists the address of the campgrounds. which means I can look to see if theres caches nearby where I'm camping if not I can place one I'm sure other Provinces and States have similar campground guides. I hope I helped More to see, More to do
  9. this kind of activity could land a unsuspecting cacher in jail. In parks it's only a fine mess around with the Pentagon and you might vanish permanently More to see, More to do

    Calgary cachers

I pretty new at the sport, I'm beginning to wonder if I'm anoying they grey beards with all my poking and posting around the forums. I haven't met any other cachers yet while hunting one down (I attribute this to bad weather) but I know theres a whole pile of you out there as all the good hidy places I can think of for my first cache seem to be taken More to see, More to do [This message was edited by LoneHowler on January 30, 2003 at 12:27 AM.]
  17. most of the dogs in my life have been adopted. my most recent on Tyson sota stumbled into our lives my Mom and her freind were taking the dogs into Home Hardware (one of the few stores that will allow animals) and a truck pulled up beside the the guy rolled down the window and said "do you want another one he ****s in the house and runs away dispite my punising him for it, if someone won't take him I'm going to put him down" My mom of course had to rescue him from this brut. we wern't going to keep him but give him to some freinds that were looking for a dog simmilar to him. they were away on vacation so we had him around for a while and we got attached to the guy, he needed almost contant attention otherwise he would poop in the house, the freinds took him for a week but since the both worked at the same time he pooped in the house allot so he came back to us. theres always someone home for him, he still jumps and runs when a loud noise occures and occasinaly poops in the house. but no one in the family would trade him for a millon bucks he's one of the sweetest dogs we have ever known he loves to snuggle and gets along good with our other dog Muffin (hey don't look at me like that mom named her) some of the best dogs we have ever owned were pound dogs because once they realise that they've found a loving family they won't give you up More to see, More to do
  18. I work Airport security and can answer the question. Yes GPS devises are allowed on the aircraft, we may ask you to turn it on or do a chemical analysis on it otherwise know as Trace test or swab. In the airport itself you will probably get little to absolutely no reception for your gps (I know I tried) You should not use it during take off or landing, and you should have the pilots permission to use it during flight. until a terrorist uses a gps to target a aircraft (not very likely) they will continue to be allowed Have a nice flight More to see, More to do [This message was edited by LoneHowler on January 30, 2003 at 02:20 AM.]
  19. ok refrencing back to a artical in this months discovery mag it said that there are 24 american GPS sattalights where my Rino labled one circling overhead as number 30, is my Canadain Rino picking up other counties perhaps even Canada's own GPS sattalights? or are there more american ones that they're not telling us about More to see, More to do
  20. My Rino at best has about a 5-7 foot accuracy and it once placed smak dab right on top of a cache, it told me I was a foot away, I was standing with the tree that it was hidden under right in front of me! More to see, More to do
  21. Simple GRMS radios are illegal in Canada the Rinos had to be modified before they were releced to the public here. I bought mine as soon as they became available More to see, More to do
  22. I think we have established that the sport is quazi nerdy. athough it boders on nerdisness the fact that it is a outdoor sport drops the nerd factor consederably. come to think about it what I said sounded nerdish. I'll think I'll go to the wilderness to dumb down some, Fire good meat on stick over fire better. white gooey thing on stick over fire with choclete and graham best More to see, More to do
  23. only when I drop it accedently and it always powers back up. it's a newer 120 so they must have fixed the problem More to see, More to do

Its easy on the net - Nerd 2. Nerd 3. Cool 4. Knowing that makes you a geek as well as a nerd 5. Nerd 6. I assume next to your cellphone and at least one pager - NERD I took a poll around work here and we are all nerds. Or at least we are participating in a nerdy activity! Snikers ok I am some what nerdish but I dislike my cell phone and often leave it at home, I do not own a pager, I got enough anoying beeping things at work withought adding that to my arsenol. In high school I was more the angry loner than nerd. and MY SUV's Trunk is full of camping gear, rustic stuff tent, axes, etc. however rustic I am I'm still somewhat nerdish. but this summer when the freezing rain came down while I was tenting I did not retreet to my nice warm suv I toughed it out in the tent. Oh one last thing I'm not insulted but I love a good argument More to see, More to do
