  1. mhdennis, One thing I noticed is the amount of detail shown can be changed by going into map setup and changing detail level. I thought I had a bug with mine as some of the POIs weren't showing up on the GPS after downloading the maps, but then found the others when I adjusted to a higher map detail level.
  2. nhdennis, I have a SporTrak Pro, and although I'm a newbie, and don't know how it compares with others, I can tell you that I purchased the MapSend Topo program, and it is very similar to the Streets and Destinations program. Only difference is it does have topographic information built in (when zoomed in fairly tight shows the lines where the topo changes, and allows a couple more functions to be available in the SporTrak: when cursor is on a river, lake, railroad, street, etc., hitting enter shows a topo chart of the item (tells length, max elev/min elev, and a chart of the changes in elev). Also, you are supposed to be able to pull up an artificial horizon view of what is in front of you, with the slopes shown, etc, but I havn't tried that one). The other big diff is the POIs shown. Topo has Campgrounds; Caves; Dams; Mines; Wells; Summits; Towers; and more. The one drawback seems to be you can load maps from either the Streets program, or the Topo program, but not both. (at least I haven't figured out how to do it yet). Know you weren't too impressed with Streets and Destinations, and neither was I. I do like Topo better, but heard some say they aren't impressed. But, I think you are limited by who the manufacturer is as to which maps you can use. Good luck! Ken
  3. Cap'n, I was glad to see your post. This is the same question I have, and couldn't find much detail on Magellan's website about this. I have the SporTrak Pro, and both CDs, and have not been able to load maps from both programs. I saw the post concerning the firmware version required, and think I am out of luck (choosing "About.." gives me Rev 3.03 of June 2002). Does anyone know if there is a work around for this? Can I somehow export POIs from the Streets and Destinations USA program, and then import them into the MapSend Topo program? If so, then I could choose the few POIs from Streets I that I am wanting, and continue to have all the Topo POIs. BTW, there are several on Streets that are beneficial and not on Topo (Hotels and Lodges; Shopping Centers; Restaurants, etc.). Thanks, Ken AKA: LEC (Local Exchange Carrier) Boy
