Above all if you are on a budget shop around. I found the best prices online when I bought my 60CSx. I also have a Legend with a USB adapter cable and it works fine.
  2. Was she hot. Sounds like you could have had a date. :-)
  3. Good point. Some people can be vindictive.
  4. Quick question for everyone. What would be a reasonable amount of time for this situation to be fixed? Some of these bugs have been trapped for 5 months.
  5. I agree with your last statement but not the one about placing a cache endangering cachers. There is a big difference between putting a cache in a play ground and putting one on Mt Everest. A playground is a bad idea IMO but that has probably been debated to death here. Placing a cache on Mt. Everest does not put cachers in danger. Going to get that cache if you are not qualified or prepared puts yourself in danger. It's called personal responsabillity. I have a cache that is in the woods that I designed to be a night cache. If someone goes out there and gets lost or hurt is it my fault? If someone gets hit by a car in the Wal-mart parking lot while they are bent down looking for a LPC whos fault is it? This post is not ment to be argumentative but is ment to get an opinion from others about weather I, as a cache hider, am putting people in danger just by hiding a cache.
  6. I put a few things in my last cache that could have been the FTF prize. One was a set of 4 rechargable batteries and charger.
  7. Food...Beer. And always remember beer has food value but food has no beer value
  8. Looks like he might be planning on moving them one at a time.
  9. I left a message to the reveiwer on the cache page. I did it with a needs archived note so it would go direct to the reviewer but made it clear there was someone that wanted to adopt it. I hope this helps. Keep an eye out for the reviewer response. I don't know why none of those people posted any Needs Maintenance Logs.
  10. From reading the logs it may not have been a good spot. Almost every person mentions disturbing the nesting geese. I hope to see some of the bugs moving soon.
  11. I just read his log entry on the cache page. I will consider him a stand up guy if all of the bugs and coins are moved soon.
  12. No need to disable the cache as long as there is a plan to move the trackables along. Thanks for responding.
  13. That's so messed up I don't even want to read it twice to figure out what you are talking about. :-)
  14. He has responded to my e-mail and I gave him a number to reach me or ask that he send me a contact number. I would rather talk about this over the phone as you can not read peoples tone in an e-mail. We'll see what happens.I really never thought this thread would last this long.
  15. Not if you hold it correctly. With the front of the unit facing skyward is where the patch anntena works the best. True that is a bit akward when hiking along but does help the unit maintain a good sat lock. Sorry to disagree but I used it enough to know it does not work well in the woods. It will hold a signal but it will not be very accurate. It is pretty obvious that you would want to point the antenna at the sky.
  16. I started out with that model and it will work fine.It will however give you fits under a thick tree canopy or in a valley. It should be set to the WGS 84 datum and you can enable the WAAS.If it is not receiveing the signal it will default back to regular.
  17. Can't you look at each TB page to see where they came from? I did that when I had time, after I sent him the e-mail. He started collecting them in January and held some of them for months till he built this cache. I plan to talk to him if he e-mails me back
  18. I've already stated how I feel about this, so let me set that aside and play Devil's advocate here for a second. [attitude=Devil's advocate] In poker you keep score even if it is for fun. There is a winner every time a hand is dealt even it's just for fun. If you "cheat" then you are doing so to get an advantage over the other players. In caching, if there is no score, and there is no winner. Who are cheat to get an advantage over? Yourself? It's not like cheating at poker. It's like cheating at solitaire. [/attitude] That is a huge point to this debate. But its not. Certain logging practices can and do affect others. I wasted my time and gas going after a cache that had recent found it logs only to lear that those logs were phony and the cache was missing. Had I known that I would have chosen a different cache to search for. I know one geocacher who was lured into a fruitless 100 mile RT after someone logged a fake find on a cache long thought missing. When you log finds on a cache you are in essence telling the community the cache is there. As an owner I will take a found it log to mean my cache is in place. In fact I had one cache that had several DNFs and I was about to go out and check it when a Found It log popped up. All OK, right? Welll no, the log was not legit. Sure we all take a chance that a cache is missing when we search for it, but to be in effect told by a fellow geocacher that the cache is there when it in fact isn't is just plain dishonest. It's not the numbers of others that concern me as much as their dishonesty and how can affect me and others. You are right also. Very good point and one that I have argued several times.

  21. Absolutely not. Send the certificate to me before you get yourself in trouble.
  22. All good points. I say if you're going to play with numbers just get one good cache and log it everyday.
  23. My point was if they had named it something other then TB Hotel, would this be an issue? I have seen many TB's in caches that are terrain 4 or 5. Heck I have had to Rappel to a cache that had TB's. We have some TB'Hotels' in places that disappear every few weeks to a month and the owner kept replacing it at the same location. Many a coin was stolen from it. If someone makes it a TB storage and they move them in and out every month or so then it really matters not to me where it be. I have had a TB I owned in a cache in a city. Easy access yet it was discovered over 20 times before someone finally picked it up and moved it. Another TB was picked up and held by the cacher for over 6 months before a few emails encouraged them to move it. This said, I think using the TB Hotel name is mostly what causes issues to people. I checked the page a few times and nowhere do I see any rules on having to trade one for one. That being said there is nothing to keep the next cacher (you?) from taking all the TBs and moving them. If you want my opinion; get a boat (or swim as I have done on many 'boat required' caches) pickup the TBs and place them in a plastic container and take them to other places so they can continue to travel. Watching the forums where cachers slam on each other for an idea (mostly a first cache placement) is more harmful then any TB Hotel could be. TBs will get stolen or lost. No cache is TB safe. Sadly though TB Cops love to point out a negative on any cache that TBs are in. I am not saying your trying to be a TB Cop, I only ask if you discussed the concern with the cache owner, Jason, and give him a chance to think through your concerns before making him to be a bad guy in the forums. It was not my intent to make him a bad guy. I had issues with what he has done and wanted to get others opinions. I would have the same issues is it were not called a TB hotel. As someone else said, I believe it is rude to raid caches to stock your own to that level. Tack on that TBs are supposed to travel and many of those will be there for a long time makes it just not right. As of yet my e-mail asking where they all came from has not been answered. It was not a rude e-mail and I will be surprised if I get a response.
  24. I have to wonder if you have email the cache owner with your opinions or was creating a forum the first step? Three caching teams have found the cache in question. Two have logged it because the third is not a member. More have had a DNF on the cache. I did not see a single complaint in the logs about it being MO or a TB Hotel. This makes me wonder what purpose it had coming to the forums? None of the TBs in the cache are owned by you, so it is more a matter of the TB owners to have an issue with... I assume if it was called Lake Sinclair Challenge Cache and someone placed in one TB per trip until it had 20 TBs in it you would never have brought this to the forums? If you feel a TB is being held that should be moved: 1) Log out of the forums 2) get out of the house 3) go to the cache 4) Release the TBs and move them to other caches. These are only the opinions of someone who moves TBs as often as possible, your feelings may be different. I actually like TB Hotels as they give me something other then another Lame Micro that I can put TBs into. I brought it here to see what the opinion was. If you look at the history of the bugs and coins(GC120TZ) you will see that he placed almost all of them there and had many of them for months before he did. As for your 4 step plan, that is the plan. But I will leave all of his there. I have e-mailed one of the owners to see if they knew this person. They don't and they don't seem happy with the location of there coins. Your right this is a rant but I just wanted to see what others thought. I think that is what the forums are for.
