If I log a DNF it is there to stay. If I go back and find it then that is a new log, it does not mean that I didn't look for it the first time. Once again people THIS IS JUST A GAME

I have been wanting to go over and see if that travel bug prison is still there. The owner claims to have retrieved it but has done nothing with any of the bugs. I don't have a boat either.

No, nothing was aimed at Rebel. As I said if I were a member I would vote for him. While I enjoy getting together with some fellow geocachers the political atmosphere within some of these groups is comical. This person getting mad cause another person had a coin made, another person getting upset because someone suggests they should maintain a cache that has been missing for months, people in one area getting upset because people in another area don't want to drive 3 hrs to events and want to start their own group. My statement "It's just a game" was ment for anyone reading. Do what is fun for the people in your area and don't take any c r a p from anyone. One suggestion, Get a sock puppet account, hide all of you caches under that name and never reveal it to anyone. I discovered that if you rock the boat things can happen to your caches.

You should start your own group over there. The GGA for the most part has it's efforts centered in the Atlanta area,as it should. It does not make sense the try to run events that are hours from where you live. Nor does it make sense to travel hours just to attend every event because none are in your area. Augusta should have a large enough population of cachers to have their own organization. Anyone who would campain against that is just power hungry. THIS IS JUST A GAME!!! On topic, I have met Rebel and would vote for him if I were a member. He is one of the people that actually puts thought into his caches and does not just spew micros around just because there is a place to put one.

I have found very few micros that deserve much more then TFTC, if even that.

If you would not want to go get it what makes you think anyone else would? Are you going to be willing to maintain it?

There is nothing you can do. Get over it. If you're going to geocache get use to the playground politics.

I usually include hints unless it's a really easy find. At todays gas prices I don't want people having to make mutiple trips to a cache.

I found one earlier this year that had been missing for a couple of years. The person that dropped it in the cache said their kid found it in the sand on a playground.

The "no PO boxes" rule is just to protect myself. If I send the prize money in the mail, I will send it so that it will require a signature, and most PO boxes don't have opposable thumbs or know how to write. If you send something to a P.O. Box that requires a sig they will put a card in the box letting you know you have something you need to pickup.

I went to find acache in North Georgia where I found a similar situation. This cache was on the side of a steep hill. The hillside was destroyed from all of the cachers climbing around looking for the cache. When we found the cache I showed the cords nearly 200 ft off. When I went to log I found several older logs that mention the cords being off and a note from the owner saying he knew he needed to fix it. Last time I checked nothing had been done. Unfortunately I did not mark the spot while I was there.

Seems I look at this a little different then others. While I don't think it is wrong to revisit a cache to drop a TB or to move one along that has been stuck for a while. I feel it is a bit wrong to revisit the same cache over and over to remove TBs or coins. TBs are somewhat of an incentive for some people to visit a cache. I think you are robbing the cache owner of new cache entries.

Someone went looking for one of mine in the woods with a machete. It is a multi and now you can almost find all of the stages without your GPS.

I think if it's a group find then it should be a group log. After all everyone didn't find it. Someone found it and the rest just signed the log.I would not want to see the same user name over and over again in my logs. I also would not like to see one find take up two pages in the log book for all of the names in the group.

Most likely the policy memo was written by Marcia Keener, she's been the spokes person on NPS policy regarding Geocaching since the NPS found out about it, about 6 years ago. Not to to thrilled about the way it was written sounds like nothing has changed since 2001 about Geocaching or how they perceive it. In this section: The NPS ignores the fact that GC.com has guidelines to prevent this from happening or that GC.com has worked with the NPS for 6 years to prevent caches from being laced on their land. My suggestion would be to act locally, think globally. It took the NPS 6 years to write this policy memo that appears to be filled with incomplete information it will take another 6 years for an accurate memo. Instead since the final decision rests with the local park staff offer to hold a CITO or a Geocaching class in exchange for permission to hide a cache. I've done both for a county park system and now they ask for annual Geocaching classes, we are one of the few activities advertised for their Earth Day Festival. The relationship is very different today, originally they thought Geocaching would have the same sort of impact the NPS thinks it will. And responsibility. That is why you can not have policys that allow individuals at a lower level to make the decision as to allow something or not. They will almost always decide to cover their you know what before allowing something that could possibly cause a problem.

Er....Ummm A tad confused here. Does this mean that you can jump off said 1000ft cliff without said parachute ? And they allow this ? Or is there just no ruling on it at present ? One of their reasons to not allow parachuting is danger to persons or property on the ground. Do you think that someone free climbing(climbing without a rope) poses that same danger if they fall?

Single color items are cheaper to make.

If it is not acting right a quick calibration will usually set it straight. You will also need to recalibrate after you change the batteries.

Hate to rain on the parade but if they got it in their minds that they don't want it they will run you around in circles preventing it. The BASE jumping community has been fighting this battle for years. Someone came to the conclusion that parachuting is not an appropriate use of park resources and a whole list of half truths like in the geocaching policy. Now, you can free climb a 1000 ft cliff if you want but you can't jump off of that same cliff with a parachute. Does that make sense?

You will find benchmarks a challenge to say the least. Oh and you better go ahead and buy a metal detector.

That's not even close to being true. If it were true that you could not make a mistake skydiving you would see thousands of people killed every year. My point was that many people try it and decide for whatever reason that it is not something they want to pursue.

a stash note in the cache means they will know what it is after they blow it up. Anything like that in a semi-urban environment should be marked as a geocache on the outside.
