  1. I found this to be true after someone used a machette to go after a cache I have in a National Forest. I could not believe someone could be so ignorant.
  2. Or it could be that the cords are off and the owner has not bothered to fix it. I found one in north Georgia that was just that. Hillside in a state park destroyed from people looking for the cache and come to find out the owner makes mention in the cache log that the cords are off and he will fix it sometime. i hope the ranger never sees that hillside.
  3. The best one in this area is the CSpenceFLY Geocaching Asso. It's a small group so the politics are kept to a minimum. There is almost never an arguement. We do light cache maintenance when we find one that needs a little work and CITO whenever we cache. We bring friends along whenever we can and have several that have started caching on a regular basis.
  4. If your neighbors know about it, place it. The people that want to look for it will, the rest won't.
  5. I didn't read the whole thread. I'm not going to. It's a number. Get over it. I use to get bent out of shape about some of this stuff but realized it was ruining my game. Go find a couple of caches and move on. You wil feel better.
  6. I found one in the North Ga. mountains that was like this. In a state park. The cache is on the side of a mountian and it turned out the cords were off by 150ft or so. The entire hillside was destroyed. I didn't know the cords were off till I got home and read through the log or I would have posted correct cords. There were many logs stating the cords were off but no response from the owner.
  7. I would re-log it everyday till he left it alone or go pickup the geo-trash if the owner didn't give me a reason for the delete.
  8. The only way I would consider doing this is if I had an idea of the areas I would be sent to so I could plan ahead and grab other caches on the way.
  9. I'd say both for me. I've found places I wanted to bring people to and then built a cache to fit. Then again I have come up with a cache idea and then went looking.
  10. Make sure you check the mission of the trackables before you take them to Mexico.
  11. Is Topo US 08 the only topo software that can go in my Garmin? If not what is the most detailed topo software? I thought I saw some somewhere that looked like relief maps.
  12. see profile photo What is that photo anyway? It's hard to make out...you have a large version of it? It is me jumping off of the New River Gorge bridge on Bridge Day '06. I'll see if I can find the photo and post a link to it.
  13. I can hardly wait for the thread about it not getting published.
  14. I would re-log my find everyday till he left it alone.
  15. I assume you are talking about a hollow bolt since you did not attach a pic. Most guard rails have extra holes in them.
  16. I have a container covered in pine bark that has been out since March that is still in great shape.
  17. I count 86 hides as you have 12 archived and 1 disabled right now.
  18. I think that the note could be taken several ways depending on what my mood was at the time. I also think that the last two sentences could have been left off but that's just my opinion. Sometimes I think we react to things because we know what we would have ment if we wrote it or we would never write it ourselves.
  19. Do your fellow cachers a favor and get creative and come up with a good cache.
  20. The rules change almost weekly and there is no sence what so ever to most of them.
  21. There are already plenty crappy un-maintained caches out there.
  22. More then likely he is consulting with other reviewers. You will be notified when the cache is published.
