  1. They were not confused, it was a deliberate attempt to 'sabotage' so to speak, the logs, and other cachers thoughts about seeing this cache.
  2. Handicaching should sort them out
  3. Last night I received a small number of logs on some of my caches from a sock puppet account. They were removed soon after logging but best of all was this description on a well known virtual of mine. UC5 (munch munch) My first geocaching trip somewhat of a letdown, firstly I couldn't find anything on my first two attempts then I was disappointed with this one. Walking around in the rain to find some old box in no paticuarly good hiding place, it seems that anyone could hide these things randomly just like leaving litter. However I won't be put off and have decided to try a new area. Wouldn't really recommend this cache. Plonker or muppet?
  4. Get yourself some digital OS maps and learn to read them, Fugawi is as good as any and somewhat cheaper. There is also a 'find geocaching sites' on Mk2s Use the Google map option on the cache page which will also give you an idea as to the landscape...open or wooded etc Look at the attributes on the cache page.
  5. I was introduced to the handheld gps by a friend who has a 32ft sailing boat down in Poole. We did a day sail to Lymington, and sailed back next day. He navigated, (avoiding the obstacles) using a simple yellow Etrex. All the danger spots were waypointed in and it was testament to the logic of keeping simple. Use what you save on something else you want.
  6. Twithchers 5: The Tit. Will be available from dusk on Saturday GCVC2H And this Coin is available for the FTF Greg's Michigan
  7. Can someone organise Handel's, 'Entrance of the Queen of Sheba' for Alibags as she enters either this saturdays bash at Winkwell or the following days at Goring
  8. Similar to Pharisee, But once I have identified the caches thought likely I then make up a little table in MSWord, 3 columns wide, with cache name, setter and coords in col one, decrpyted clues in col 2 and size M, S or R in col3. and make note of coin if there. Read the description and pick up any other hints and put that note into col 2. Download that to PDA with Fugawi map extract with waypoints. Difficult to go wrong after that unless doing something difficult like Alchemy. My advice is to keep it light, but I would add that having a bluetooth gps reciever with the PDA would be a better way to go in the field as all you have to do is clip the gps to your clothing and then all you have to carry is your PDA.
  9. For summer and all those days I just want to drive, its now:- but if I am feeling lazy then its the wifes:- But I would like to exchange my ageing Trek for this:- ALthough getting the GT onto the MX5 is problematical.
  10. The diversion just as you hit Goring, when driving south from Wallingford on the B4009 is straight forward, or you can always take the A329 route out of Wallingford, through Moulsford and turn left at Streetley traffic lights. Did both routes on Saturday whilst planting Twitchers 5, The Tit.
  11. I'll still stick with New York but would like an expanation, if I am correct, about Clerkenwell, City of Westminster and Lambeth. Its also a bit of a walk between SoHo and Chelsea and come to that, Hanover Square. (watched The Squid and the Whale last night (set in NY) and Hanover Sq metro station popped into view)
  12. Wild wild guess. There is certainly a Chelsea ('woke up it was a Chelsea morning' ...Joni Mitchell) and a Soho in New York...but the rest, no idea.
  13. Hope to attend but have just set Twitchers 5: The Tit, in the vicinity. This will be available from after sunset the day before as a little homework is required for this cache. (as does the rest of this series)
  14. What 'profit' links these three reprobates? (slight cache link)
  15. .....fisher German Bight humber, thames ....... always interupting the Test Match commentary.
  16. orange! Must be a faded orange at Oxford for it to look yellow.
  17. Well looking at my Parklife I would say Red Blue White Black Yellow B&W stripes Living 2km from a track also helps.
  18. A magnetic alignment 'overload' caused by the juxtaposition of the sun and the moon having an effect on the earths own magnetic poles, or something like that?
  19. Put the magnet inside after roughing up the plastic with wire wool or similar. Let the araldite set solid (overnight?) before placing.
  20. Jesus I was more than happy with my 58kph on blades in a tuck position over on Alpe D'Huez, but being 6'3" does add a bit of drag.
