  1. I was the only person there with a GPS. The Police, EMS or 1st responders did not have one. It was getting dark and the Chopper pad ended up being car head lights in the field. Directed by the GPS. I'm getting with the director to see about GPS's for the local officals. Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all"
  2. I bought it just for geocaching. However, now I use it for Hunting, Fishing, Work, Camping and a great all-around to play with. Oh, Yeah! I almost forgot. Now that I have a GPS there is some photography books that give cords to find certain scenery to photograph. Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all"
  3. I didn't know this and really didn't give it any thought. But, I was showing this friend of mine about caching when he got a "1st responder" call. We was close so off we went. The person in trouble needed to be life flighted and the chopper was have some trouble finding us. I mention the GPS, we relayed the cords and they flew right to us. So, in case you didn't know ( I didn't) Life Flights can use GPS Cords. Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all"
  4. I always have some of my equipment with me. You never know when you'll see the shot, or find a flower you've never seen before. I always load my camera in the geo-pack. Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all"
  5. I've worried about quite a bit. So before mine Sportrac Pro received very many I put a scratch resisted flim over the screen. The type that are put on the PDA's screen. When it get's dirty or to scratched, just remove and place new one on. Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all"
  6. The place that I bought is on the ridge and when we built the house at one time we had ticks inside, (not now tho, thank goodness) so I name the farm tickridge. And now you know the rest of the story. Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all"
  7. Ditto! Ditto! As soon as I can, I'll be a charter member. Great job to all. Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all"
  8. I've done this very thing using spade bits. They are about 6" long and can get them 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter. You can also get an extender that is 12" long. Just drill several holes on the outside edges, then drill at diagnal (SP). Chiseling out whats left. It is a job, but can be done. Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all"
  9. I'm looking for any Geocachers in the Jay, Grove, Kansas, Oaks or Grand Lake Oklahoma area. My wife works for the newspaper and thinks it would be a great article to write for the Grand Lake Mag. She wants to interview a couple of people (besides me). Just e-mail me Thanks Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all" [This message was edited by Tickridge on February 14, 2003 at 06:43 PM.]

  12. I'm presently using a 12 seal lead acid battery that I've attached a lighter plug to. The battery is easily recharged and I have lots and lots of use time. Can use it almost non-stop for 3 days without a charge. Bought the battery and charger from radio shack. Used a small camera case with strap to put battery in for ease of carrying. 14. Still saving the money for the Sportrac Pro. Until then I'm making preps for download on the PPC. I've made a excel ss that converts the Decrypt hint. It can also be use to Encrypt. I'll probably find more uses as I get going Brian Tickridge Photography Where we "Line'em up and Shoot'em all"
  15. The "FLOATABLITY" is for the sake if anything can go wrong it probably will. I am a freelance photographer and float around the local lakes taking pictures. Upgradable is for memory to down load Topo maps. Christmas time I received a book on waterfalls in Arkansas that gave cordinates so memory is needed for a long week in the field of downloaded topo maps. And yes I will plan on attaching it to my body for the just in case it's dropped instantance. Brian

  17. I've been reading in the background for about two weeks now and by just reading I'm hooked. So now I need to decide which gps is right for me. The two that I'm looking at is the the Meridian Gold or the Sportrac Pro. I like the Megellan for the fact that they say they "Float". A plus for me. What maybe the pro's, con's of the two. I know the Gold has upgradeablity. I don't want to buy one and out grow it by next year. Thx's Brian
