  1. Well, I have one coin in my collection I bought back in 2008. I knew it was activated and I've asked at least 10 times over the years by now to have the adoption started. But I'm being ignored. So now I grabbed the coin out of the possession of that cacher into my coin administrators inventory. I kind of live with it, I know, I paid for it, I have the mails of that sale still. But sadly the adoption never took place. Takes one to know one.
  2. People receiving their mission early can wait until Easter to open it Who has the will power to do it? I might if some do Oh, no! I'm hoping for a early arrival, as I'm planning a roadtrip for easter. Also keep in mind, as inept as our postal service is, it is also really, REALLY slow. So three weeks over the Atlantic is sadly quite common. I once had a coin from Scotland take 4 weeks to Germany, I always asumed the postman went by feet and hiked the distance with a trip on a rowing boat across the English Channel. There is no other explanation for the delay....
  3. No need to worry, it is heading to Canada Indeed. Canada. But I can tell you, the main colour of that poisonous gift is lavender. Or purple? Perhaps lilac? Hmmmmm...
  4. Email sent: 17.2.14 Name received: 10.3.14 Mission sent: 13.3.14 Mission arrived: Mission received: The young woman in the post office quite shocked me! At first she tried to charge me domestic postage for my parcel. I told her, no, it's international. So she checked the address and asked: Canada. That's in Europe, right? Ah, no. It's worldwide postage I'll have to pay. That not enough, I had to ask for the green customs declaration. She had never even seen those and had to phone someone, who could tell her where to find those. I filled in 'gift', as it is a gift. Trouble is, in German 'Gift' means poison and the poor woman was utterly confused why I would sent poison to someone over in Canada, where-ever that might be. I felt really lonely there in the post office, I must admid...

  6. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS, STUNNING, UNBELIEVABLE! Well, postage is high, but those beauties are heavy.
  7. Congratulations! This is wonderful news. One of the reasons, I never salvage a code and send a replacement out, is the hope, that something like this might happen!
  8. Well, I'd be the first to have some interest in older coins, especially from before 2007, which was the year I got hooked. But then, I haven't got so much money laying around to play poker so to speak and get the whole lot unseen. If you want my opinion, just go to the trouble to take some pictures, create some summons about the coin and place them at eBay. You'd get the fairest deal there, and also much more then $10 on most of the rare coins. But please make sure to send internationally, so I can put a bid down...
  9. Well, it must be magic, it is now confirmed. Thank you very much for watching this thread and parting with coins... Another update is in order: 1. Skoda Yeti (Be prepared for something wild) 2. Sundial Geocoin, antik copper or antik gold 3. Garmin UK Stonehenge 4. BCC - Plymouth Rock 5. BCC - Mount Rushmore
  10. They are really lovely! Do we have to be up at some undecent time in the middle of the night to get them, or are you taking preorders? (I'm hoping for the later...)
  11. This thread seems to be magical. There is no other explanation, why suddenly so many of my long time wishes are fullfilled. Coins on my wishlist for longer than two years are finding their way to me. Finally. Keep this magic up please. On the other hand, I might run out of wishes for the list... 1. Skoda Yeti (Be prepared for something wild) 2. Sundial Geocoin, antik copper or antik gold 3. Garmin UK Stonehenge 4. BCC - Plymouth Rock 5. Nutlady 2006
  12. I can't narrow it down to three, I'm sorry... I like S5 and S6, BN2, BN5, BN6 G5 and G6 My daughter just came in and squeeled: 'Kugelfisch!' If I look at Kugelfisch in Wikipedia, it tells me those fish are called Tetraodontidae in Englisch.... She liked: G3, BN3, BN5 and S6 So if this was any help.... I guess, you just have to make all.
  13. I'm definitely out, as I didn't count on USA to be so good. Never mind, I haven't got a clue about ... what is it called they're playing? Some sports in the Olympics...
  14. Something strange is going on. Since I've posted my top five coins of the wishlist, I got two long time wishes fullfilled. Amazing! Updated top five of the wishlist: 1. Skoda Yeti 2. Sundial Geocoin, antik copper or antik gold 3. Garmin UK Stonehenge 4. BCC - Plymouth Rock 5. Michigan 2006
  15. There are quite a few interesting topics for a cointest to choose from. Now we all can run one, as we all have a treasure trove of ideas here... I liked the one with the postcards, which was run a few month back. My entry for week 1: Describe, how you got started with geocaching, did someone take you along, did your hear about it in the media, what and who did get you into the hobby. And which cache was your first attempt? Did you find it?
  16. I'd start with eBay to do the research. The value depends on the market, is there someone willing to spend a lot of money or not. Sometimes I get coins through eBay, which I treasure for one reson or other and are willing to pay for. Sometimes there are coins sold for an obscenely high amount, that I wonder about the sanity of the buyer. So in the end it's as it always is, you get what the buyer is willing to give. That might be a lot or much less, than you'd hoped for. A friend of mine told me about an facebook auction, where someone offered an activated coin. He bade (bid?) on it the amount he was willing to pay for an activated coin. The seller wrote him an offensive letter, as to what he was thinking about, he should put a serious bid forward, not a joke. Excuse me, it was an activated coin and my friend offered, what he would give. Obviously the seller expected much more of this coin and put to much value in it. I don't know, what came of that story, but it told me that some are placing quite high expectations on the value of their collection. But in the end, it's only worth, what someone is willing to give to you. And for me an activated coin isn't as atractive as an unactivated. Think of the difference between a new and an used car...
  17. Oh no, now Laval K-9 will kill me for getting her christian name wrong... I knew it was a bad idea to address her without being certain of the name. drneal still has to work on the right puppy look, it's a good start though...
  18. Poor Wyatt, he does look disgusted with the carrot... My Chelsi just thinks carrots are like wood, great to play with and nag, but not for eating. Email sent: 17.2.14 Name received: Mission sent: Mission arrived: Mission received: Thanks for hosting another mission!
  19. Most coiners don't have a collection like drneal, (whom I still like to meet and have a look at his coins...), but it depends on what you wish to do with your coins. If you want to share them with others, show them around at events, than activating is necessary. If you just want to keep them for yourself you don't need to activate them, as they loose value. Sending trackables out to travel means letting go of them. Don't send anything out, you can't bear to loose. There are some less expensive travel tags and TBs, which are less likely to go missing. Trading is usually done with non activated coins, and you should always let the trading partner know, if a coin is activated. They might not be interested in a trade. I had someone asking for a certain coin, I offered a trade, thinking I could just add the traded coin into my traders box, as I didn't fancy it, but it was activated. So now I can't trade it. edited for a typo. Again...
  20. Congratualtion to this really nice mission parcel! It's always great to get a wish fullfilled! My list for the next round is still http://coord.info/TB2DQY8.
  21. With the name of Rainbow Fish I first had the image of one of the favourite childrens books of my kids: I like those coins quite a lot, especially as they are round with just the fins sticking out. As I'm not so fond of black nickel I like the other metals better, also I'm more for the girly and colourfull varieties. But I'm sure they will all look great!
  22. Actually, it is a geocoin, but a non trackable. As far as I know, trackable coins came later than 2005, but some of those coiners, who are longer with the game than me, might shed some light on this. Coins from 2005 are pretty rare, so your friend should treasure it. (Well, I would anyway.) If he'd rather have a trackable coin, he should check out the various shops which have quite a widespread variety of different coins for all tastes and interests.
  23. If you have the trackable in your inventory, you can mark it as visited with every cache you do together. Just mark it as visited every time you write a log. You even can let him visit DNFs, if he was with you at the location. That way, later you can see, where you've cached with your dog. My dog has a TB (TB5APEC) as well and I let her being discovered from cachers we meet. On the trail or at events. But mostly the tag gets logs from all the caches we did together. If I have pictures of her at the location, I'll put them into the logs as well. I've put the tracking code on one of those engraved tags with dogs name and my phonenumber, those are less prone to wear off by being attached to a dogs collar. Edit: to add some more information...
  24. 7th of February in Norway, hasn't it arrived by now? Curious...
  25. After reading this thread, I'm really sorry, that after a hickup with my credit card and PayPal my abonement got canceled. Does anyone have a yo-yo for trade? I love yo-yoing, in my teens there was a hype with sports yo-yo and I still have a very cool one, which lights up with colourfull LEDs, when spinning fast. A real yo-yo is nothing like those cheap wooden childrens toys. Till we're all , it will take A LOT of practicing...
