  1. This is why I ask myself why I pay for this?! I have a busy day and instead of being out I sit waiting for my PQ's. This kind of thing happens way too often. Why no answer from those that make their $ off the premium members?
  2. I have been having troubles getting a PQ to run too. Hopefully it gets fixed soon as I am leaving early in the morning to go on a caching run with some friends.
  3. I have had a scratched cornea (and I wear glasses), stung by bees, plenty of cuts and scratches, but the worst was breaking my arm while caching. I had my daughter with, made it back to the car, had to have her shift the car in reverse and drive for me, had to stop for gas, she had to get my credit cards out of my pocket, then drove home before having the wife take me to the emergency room.
  4. To find nothing but high numbers I would suggest Rochester or the St Cloud area. From what others say either can be an easy 100+ day.
  5. I am having the same problem since last night. Even tried having them sent to different email accounts but get nothing.
  6. I ended up having issues with the wheel on the Colorado and changed to the Oregon as soon as it came out. I have been very happy with the decision.
  7. I have a Roadmate that I updated to a Crossover and have used it a couple of times for geocaching. I will say it is not ideal and prefer using my Oregon (or my Magellan 500LE before that) for caching but if it is all you have it will get you there. It does stop navigating to the spot way to quickly and you may have to navigate to it again to narrow down the location.
  8. August newsletter is now available. Email me if you would like to receive it in pdf format.
  9. When trying to send to GPS I get the following error, Fatal Error: File Path: String Stream, line: 17, char: 143 Message: Expected end of tag 'img'
  10. I search for a cache to find it and sign a log and I place a cache for others to find it and sign a log. If signing a log is not important why would it be a requirement of placing a cache? Anyone could see the area a cache was placed and see what the area looks like by going online and putting the coordinates into things like Google Earth. One of the things geocaching promotes is outside activity. If there are no guidlines and we allow people to play the way they want then we also have to include the hider that feels the log should be deleted, as they are playing the way they want. There is another thread I have read about a person going around and taking the caches, should that be allowed as again they are playing the way they want. Theses are a couple of reasons there has to be guidlines and if people do not like them they should not play the game. Now with all that being said I know there may be reasons at times a person is unable to sign a log but they explain the reason in the log and it is not what they usually do. I have signed with a stick before and generally have paper or an extra log sheet in case there are issues with the log in the cache.
  11. When in Rochester I would also reccomend Quarry Hill. Some good caches and nice hike.
  12. Email it to me at minnesotabrad@comcast.net.
  13. The June newsletter is now available.
  14. Yes. I am getting ready to leave for a big caching weekend and I am not getting my PQ's. It is going to make for a tough caching weekend if I can't load my GPS.
  15. I talked to them once about an issue that was fixed in an upgrade that came out later in the day that I talked t them. I have had no big problems with my Colorado and love caching with it.
  16. Good for you! Congratulations!! I got lucky when I started caching an found 22 before having a DNF. But I played it safe and my first ever cache was a virtual. For the traditionals, I did not give up and spent a lot of time in some cases to make the find. I was about to give up on my second traditional cache but made the find after one last attempt before moving on.
  17. I would go and talk to places like REI or Dicks. Maybe you can get them to donate some lower priced units.
  18. Someone has them for sale on eBay. Here is a link to one. Handlebar mount
  19. I have started a newsletter covering geocaching in Minnesota. I have it available online and also email it to people who request it. The emailed version is a pdf file. If inerested in receiving it let me know. It covers caching, events, organizations and other items. I allow people to contribute and send articles they would like in it. Let me know what you think. Here is the May edition. Geocaching Minnesota Newsletter
  20. May's newsletter is now available. If you would like it via email in pdf format please email me. Geocaching Minnesota-May 2008
  21. Remember even with the best waterproof shoes or boots, your feet could still get wet if the water is deeper than the shoes or if you sink into soft beds. Take the advice of JohnnyVegas and get yourself some good quality Merino wool socks. They do wonders of helping keep feet comfortable.
  22. A neat cache location in St Paul MN. Water can be an issue at times.
  23. I love mine as well. It is a great GPSr especially for geocaching. The paperless feature is fantanstic. There have been a few issues along the way but Garmin has been good at coming out with updates. I think you can't go wrong getting a Colorado.
  24. I have had this happen several times. My first puzzle cache found while looking for a place to hide my first cache. One day stop at an area to be on a conference call and while standing outside the car wondered if there was a cache in the area and where would I place one, ended up walking right up to a cache. Another time going for a cache that was nominated for cache of the month by the MnGCA and did not load anything else in the area and while walking through the wooded area found two other caches that were in there.
  25. While the my caching experience in Fargo is not a lot, one of my favorite caches is in Fargo. It is called Packers Bug School. You have to do that one. Most of the other caches I have done in Fargo ended up to be micros.
