I had the same problem If you open Safari then sign into Wherigo and then open PiGo and sign in. the cartridge downloaded ok. Hope this works for you

Your are correct, in bright sunlight the screen is quite good But in bright overcast conditions particularly when walking in snow the screen is useless you can't see a bloody thing. I have gone back to the trusty 60cxs
