  1. This sounds like a really cool idea...I just wish I had though of it first! I am in the Akron, Ohio area and I would be happy to help it on it's way! RMFlagg
  2. Hey John, I will be in England from September 24th until the 5th of October. Maybe there is a time where we can meet and gang up on some caches. RMFlagg
  3. My nick is also a holdover from the old days of BBSes and even before Q-Link! Back in about '85 I was a regular in the BBS scene and used the name Reuben M. Flagg from the comic series "American Flagg" by Howard Chaykin. My avatar is from the National Lampoon High School Yearbook parody. If you don't know what that is, you should! It's one of the funniest things that I have ever read...again and again. RMFlagg
  4. When I bought my GPSr, I went through the same comparisons and I ended up choosing the Venture. After weighing the options, the fact that I was going to need a cable, and the screen resolution, I felt that the extra money for the Venture was well worth it. I have since used both models and though the Yellow is nice, the Venture was obviousily worth the extra cash. If you are a beginner, it will grow with you nicely. RMFlagg
  5. quote:Originally posted by headmj:Nope, I do those things Jeremy. And I have taught 2 generations of boys how to do those things. I object to the highly politicized rhetoric that many associated with earth day use to push there leftist agendas Sorry, strike my earlier post, I was wrong. He's not a troll. He's does have a great hypocritical line about objecting to "highly politicized rhetoric that many associated with earth day." That's pretty funny considering he spouted his politial rhetoric all over the place. Maybe other's views are just political rhetoric and his views are just fact?
  6. He sounds like an ANGRY troll.
  7. Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has had problems using US battery chargers with UK power adapters?
  8. Hey Robotman, I plan on being in London at the same time, maybe we'll run into each other at a cache or two! RMFlagg
  9. 1. How did you find out/start geocaching? Quite a few years ago, I read a Smithsonian article on Letterboxing in British parks and I just loved the idea. For a while I was looking to get into it and upon doing another web search, I found out about geocaching. Being a gadget/tech head, this was MUCH cooler than Letterboxing...here I am. 2. Who/what got you started geocaching? See above. 3. How often you do it? About once a week. 4. How long have you been doing it? Three months. 5. Spending amounts: a. Price of GPS ~$160 - Garmin eTrex Venture. b. Placing a cache About $6. c. other equipment and prices (lights, ropes, etc) Ahh...accessories and other toys, my downfall. About $100!
  10. I love how in the bar business, this is commonly referred to as "Amateur Night." "It's funny 'cause its true." -Homer Simpson
  11. I would like to welcome you to the fold if for no other reason than you have a Pee Wee quote in your sig. Fantastic! RMFlagg "...why, just this morning Francis was looking at my bike...FRANCIS!"
  12. How much wood would a woodGeorge gorge if a woodGeorge could gorge wood?
  13. Sorry, ApK, I meant the TV article. The original message specifically stated: "...Read the info below, soon you'll be able to see my TV story, about 3 minutes worth, online at www.wptz.com..." I have checked their website everyday and there is nothing up that I can find. I was just wondering if there has been a delay in the airing of the story. RMFlagg
  14. Ummm...okay, I give, where did the TV story go? I have tried the links every day, but there is no listing for the article! RMFlagg
  15. Just to let any who might be interested, the SD card is sold. RM
  16. SanDisk 64mb SD Card for sale: $25.00. Used once in my PDA, then I received a bigger one as a gift. Email me if ya want it! RMFlagg
  17. I live in Cuyahoga Falls, connected to Akron and about 25 miles south of Cleveland. I know that there are a couple of other cachers from here also. I will tell them to stop by the thread and say hello.
  18. If you click on the map on the cache page and from there zoom in, you will see that the location is between the interstate with a LOT of area inbetween. Enough for access roads to the cache! RMFlagg
  19. It's funny, you listed the same criteria that I had when I was looking to buy my GPS. I had done a bunch of snooping around, asked a few friends and then I decided on the Garmin eTrex Venture. It has the higher res display, more memor than the eTrex Yellow and WAAS and comes with a PC serial cable. I bought it locally at Best Buy for $160 and that was only because I had XMas gift certificates. If you snoop around online and on eBay, you will find it cheaper. Good luck and have fun!, RMFlagg
  20. Hi all, I just recently got a Garmin Venture and it seems to me that the battery life is EXTREMELY short. I have yet to have a set of alkaline batteries last more that about 2 hours. Now I know that the cold weather can lessen the life span, but that much?!? The manual claims that batteries can last 20 hours and I didn't expect that, but I did expect more than 1 1/2 - 2 hours. What are some of the battery draining features that I should/can avoid and what are the best type of rechargables to get for this thing? *Phew*...I have no more questions. Thanks for your time! RMFlagg
  21. I sounds like a fun idea. Just don't make it so that you have to have a LAPTOP to do it. Be able to use a PDA w/wireless(just simplify the formatting), a laptop or even a phone by just making a version for WAP. It's fairly simple and could be great fun!
