  1. Useful? It is seldom that any knife I've found in a cache was worth the scrap value of the metal it was made from. What do you exspect a 12 inch Rambo knife?
  2. I am not sure if this counts as an injury, but it was rather funny if I look back on it: It happened on a rainy day here in Australia in the outback, it does rain here occasionally. I was bush walking in my favourite pair of hiking boots, treking through mud and dirt and both boots soles came unstuck from the front right to the heel. This happened at the most inopportune moment as I was negotiating my way acroos a rock to take a picture. As a result I fell holding the GPS in one hand and a camera in the other. Without anything to break my fall, apparently I bounced twice and then slid down the rock, lay there for two seconds. Lucky when I got up except for scapes and cut I was all right. But did I get teased the rest of the trip, me walking in sandals as that was all I had. And as to the equipment not a scratch!
  3. While I feel that knives should be removed at the very least they should be swapped out! As to the content of the caches, if all you found was junk in the caches how many did you replace / restock. The kind of statement you make really gets to me, cachers go and put out caches for the enjoyment of us, they / we do not get paid to place these caches, it is for the enjoyment of all. Perhaps if you went and spent $50 dollars on small toys at the dollar shop, you could then fill any caches that were not stocked full! Maybe then you would not have to bitch about the caches you are finding! If I go cacheing and it is noted that the log is wet damaged or whatever I try to take along something so that this can continue, I also will only log a maintenance if the container is full or log needs replacing. If the cache is empty I will replace it with something. It does not have to be a porche, a few soldier or toys etc will do. Remember we are the older of the cachers if you are posting here, what about the younger (5-8 years) to them it's really nice to find something. I hope this does not offend you, but perhaps you should try becomming part of the solution not part of the problem. Steve
  4. Seems this can get rather heated. To me each to his / her own, if you are happy to play with paper coins all well and good. For me I love coins, there is nothing like finding a coin in a cache, the weight, the effort that someone went to, his ideas etc. It just makes caching a more enjoyable exsperiance, for me a lot would be lost if people only started releasing paper geocoin copies. So from a personal point I will only release the real solid coin, if I feel it is too valuable then I would rather keep it and let them be discovered at meetings etc. I will also only log / move along a real coin, but thats my way of caching. It does not offend me if someone else does it, I just ignore it and move on to the next cache hoping some kind sole will release the genuine coin. Steve
  5. Hi All I am looking for South African Geocoins. I know some of them are not trackable. If you are looking to sell any that you have please let me know. Thank you Steven
  6. Hi All, Being fairly new to caching I can not for the life of me figure why to incorrectly log or make a cache easier seems to defeat the whole point. You know the ones you have found / or not! How many of these can you continually cheat on. I mean to have bragging rights you need to have found at least a thousand caches! To get that many you have to be dedicated and love caching. I am only in the 150 caches region and would not dream of cheating myself by registering a faulty claim and am proud of the ones that I have found, some of them took a lot of head scratching, but lots of fun was had . And to end, is fun not the reason to cache! Steve
  7. Limited number / something you are not going to see every day / not your run of the mill coins, I am not trying to critisize any coins but I just like them a bit different. For example a dragon is no good if he's not doing something! If he is burning a fair maden while the knight watches now that makes for a coin!!
  8. Hi All If there is anyone in the Canberra region that has some different geocoins for sale, it would really be appreciated if he could contact me at swillemse@yahoo.com. These must be trackable and not yet activated. Thanks in advance Steve (StevenWill)
