  1. Essentially, what I was trying to achieve was to have the memory map view on the 60csx and navigate accordingly. In my car,for example, the map is read from the dvd and the display quite accurately represents where you are.It seems from your replies that this may be possible if I buy the SD card for area I wish to visit? If this is the case then it would probably be garmin specific and would I be correct in assuming that it would be a Mapsource product?
  2. I have read the garmin hype about Mapsource and Topo but the user interface on these are not as user friendly as Memory Map.However I can find no clear statement that Memory Map is compatible with the 60csx.Also are there any other options?Advice welcome.
  3. That's what I do. I follow the compass and distance until I get to within about 30 feet, then I forget about the compass and start looking for likely hiding spots. Thanks. The compass is usually all over the place but I try to ensure that I keep the arrow pointed straight ahead and I rely on the distance reading.Hoping to find my 1st cache!
  4. A typical naive question I know, but just to be sure the method is to load the coordinates into the GPS(Garmin 60csx) and then flip over to the compass screen and follow the arrow and distance readings to the target?
  5. Thanks for all the detailed feedback.I guess when I finally receive my 60csx,I look forward to testing its functionality(yes there is such a word!) myself.Perhaps what I feared most was that I believed all the sales hype(top of the range and all that) incorrectly while back at the ranch it was actually not that good. But I'm pleased to note that most of you have had good experiances. Is it compatible with Memory Map or am I compelled to use Topo?I checked out Topo on the Net and it does not appear very user friendly. In contrast the trial version of Memory Map looks good.
  6. I have just purchased the Garmin 60 csx and am waiting for delivery. However with so many conflicting reports on its functionality,I'm having second thougths!I intend using it for geocaching and general navigation and route planning when hiking.I would be grateful for some advice/comments from anyone who has owned one for some time.
