  1. GONIL (Geocachers of Northeastern Illinois) has decided to go forward with producing a Cache of the Month coin for our monthly winners. We are also reaching out to other organizations to see if you would like to be included in this for your programs as well. At this time we are not looking at selling these individually, one at a time, but more along the lines of organizations that are running similar programs that want to join in on the designing and ordering of these. Please post or shoot me an email if interested.

  3. I too would love to help out if needed to help classify the needed ECs. I think the whole idea of the classifications and the challanges has raised the awareness of the classifications and has lead to some better ECs being put out or at least in my area. This is the main reason I placed my challange, the one in the Chicago area.
  4. Has anyone seen a place that has Cool Cache Award coins of some sort? I have seen a path tag but not a coin. I am a board member for GONIL a caching org in and around Chicago and we have a pretty successful Cache of the Month program going now for three years. This year we wanted to step it up a little and offer up a prize each month for the winner. Before we go out and mint our own coin or something we thought we would check to see if the wheel had already been invented. Otherwise anyone else interested in getting a coin minted and spread out the costs? Just a thought.
  5. I held an Earthcache day event last year. And to showcase the area ECs I help a raffle at the event. Anyone who found an EC on that day got put into a hat and two winners received an EC geocoin. Probably do the same thing this year.
  6. I thought they were getting classified before getting listed in the Earthcache.org datebase by someone. I didn't relzie with the new system that they were no longer getting classified.
  7. For Spring Break only the cost of the coin has dropped to $9. A few more details about the coin. It is a 1.75" coin with a printed front like the Lackey coins and an enamel back. And each coin will have its own tracking number. Shipping on the coins is at or roughly cost. To order or for more information go to www.ChicagolandCacheapolooza.com
  8. Question on the structural Earthcache classification. What deems an Earthcache to be considered structural? The reason I ask is there is a lot of inconsistencies as to ECs listed this way. The main example being Artisan Wells. I have seen them listed three ways, Hydrologic Feature which makes sense, Other is another one, and then a few have been structural. Then I have seen some buildings and such listed as structural but also historical. If someone could clear this up for me that woudl be great.
  9. Same thing here. No issues with the new system. But the Earthcache.org listing has not been updated. we have a few people in the area that really only hunt ECs but only use Earthcache.org to find them. So there are a few news ones they didn't realize posted yet.
  10. Chicago is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Geocaching in a bunch of ways. One is the first ever Chicagoland Cache-apolooza 2010: Celebrating 10 Years of Geocaching event. To go along with the event we have this cool event/10th anniversary coin. Jump on over to the event web page to check out the coin or order one or two or....
  11. I know on the GONIL boards there is talk or a few outings in the area. www.GONIL.org. One series that is really good in the area is the Cache for Kids serie by Rocky is a Very Good Doggie. Very well put togther.
  12. I tried this and your program opens but it will not except my file. It acts like I never selected it. Weird. I will email over the cartridge and maybe you can help me find the problem. I have no problem going into the file as long as one day I can reopen in to compile it. :-)
  13. This has happened to me before but I blew it off beacuse I was trying some stuff. Now I have put a lot of time into a new cartridge and I am getting An "Error Reading Cartridge Error" I have been working on this with no issue. Earlier today even. I just went to open the file to work on it again and I get the error. I have attached a screen cap of the error if it will help. I am running the builder on an XP machine. Normally I would just start over but I have put in a lot of time and really can't start over. If anyone can help please let me know.
  14. I am planning a Mini-Golf/Geocaching Event. I thought it would be cool to give out a few Golf'esq Geocoins but I am having trouble locating one. Anyone seen or have one? Thanks
  15. I am looking to see if anyone has seen a Geocoin for techers or a non-New York coin with an apple. I am a teacher and teach Geocaching to groups and I thought it would be cool to have a teacher coin that they coudl discover. Or an apple for the same reason. My Sig Item is an apple so I think it would do the same trick. Any help would be great.
  16. I have doen the uninstall and all that good stuff but whenever I go to load my two older catridges I get error messages but if I use the older builder it works just fine. Its the cartdige not compatible error. For the most part I am good right now due to the fact the Colorado has not had any updates since the last builder I use and will worry more when they get a new update.
  17. What is the deal with this? I understand they are still saying this is all a work in progress and such but why is it that it seems with almost each upgrade to the builder the cartridges built in the previous version no longer work and you need to go back to an older builder. I hate to have different builders on different machines just so I can continuing working on some of the new things but need a machine ready to make changes to the old ones. I think one thing for future builds is to work on his issue. Just my opinion. In regards to a site with old versions here is a link I found on one of Ranger Fox's posts on another thread. http://www.devfolio.com/geocaching/Wherigo/archive/
  18. I would if it was not for the educational pricing. I don't want to make bad with a good dealer. Never know when I will need more.
  19. Bascially I found a good deal on some units but found a better deal more recently so I wanted to offer these up. The dealer said it was okay instead of shipping them back so I thought I would offer them up and then if no one wanted them I would ship them back.
  20. I am sorry about the posting I guess I should have read it over better. It is $200 each not $200 for all six. I will fix the posting now.
  21. I have 6 Garmin Map60 avalible if anyone is intersted for $200 each. These are whitebox units that have been recertified by Garmin. They carry the same warrenty as a new unit. The only differnce is they do not come in the same pretty box. Here is a link to the unit on Garmin's site. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145&pID=224
  22. Thanks. That program work great. I didn't even need to adjust anything. Right on target the first time. Thanks.
  23. I need help solving a cache clue. The coordinates are in an audio file in Morse Code. I absolutely am horrible at trying to decipher it. There are three other puzzles for the other part of the cache puzzle which I solved with no problems but this last one is killing me. If anyone can decipher Morse Code could you please help. The audio file is at the link below. http://briano.com/clue/
  24. If you are looking for a good starter GPS unit this is it. This was my first GPS unit and I have upgraded so I no longer need this. The unit uses 4 AA batteries and lasts about 12 hours. Acquisition time is about 30 sec once the unit is set up. The unit also comes with the user manual. The unit is in good shape, just some minor scratches. I am asking for $40 plus shipping or best offer. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
