  1. You are correct, AFAIK it is only Mapsource that will transfer via USB. To complicate the matter, you must also install a driver in 2000/XP instead of it being plug and play like the USB keys, mp3 players, and card readers.
  2. GSAK wont. EasyMPS will in conjunction with mapsource. In fact if you want you can filter on GSAK, save as a gpx, and use easyMPS/Mapsource to upload. Why buy a serial cable?!?
  3. I guess I don't really understand the point of A2B. How is it different than using POIs? Please elaborate
  4. So you want me to install spyware that will upload my exact coordinates (probably all my waypoints to you so you can give me the POI information that is already in my gps? Looks like a scam to me.
  5. It looks like Nova Scotia is left off the list. The tide points only go up through Maine. It looks like all of BC on the west coast does have tide information. Also NS is left off of City Select NA v.5. It is on the basemap of the 60C however
  6. I agree with SBPhishy that the QuadHelix antennas are better, BUT the 76S has a QH so that is not an issue. IMO, the only advantage that Magellans have over the Garmins is the SD card. That advantage is quasi at best due to one only being able to load 64 megs in at once. EDIT: Oh yea one more advantage for the Magellans, if you are into car navigation, you can autoroute cheaper with Magellans. (But you can autoroute better with Garmins)
  7. No problem. I would have probably assumed a typo as much as easygps gets discussed around here.
  8. Tried easygps, it does not list 60c as supported gps. I don't think it supports USB either. I didnt say easygps, I said easyMPS. Do a google search
  9. You just load them both at the same time. There is an option to turn on/off maps of your choice as well.
  10. Also use EasyMPS in conjunction
  11. I use mine when I walk the dog to see how far we've walked.
  12. The only design problem mine has is that its just too ssexy.... my wife is jealous
  13. They do. It's the "300 series" (310, 315, 320, 330Map). They're relatively inexpensive (comparable to the ETrex), small (about the size of an ETrex if you added a "good" antenna to an ETrex), and they are very rugged. Actually I bought my dad a GPS a few years ago from Walmart for $99. It was the Magellan 310. We went out cacheing together a couple of weeks ago, and we compared performance. I think his problem was that his unit didn't have enough digits, but on the cache, he actually got within 20' of it. Not too shabby..
  14. I bought a 60C with no regrets (- the $470 price tag), but cannot bear to part with my legend. Right now my 60C is is my car, and my legend is 10' from me in my jacket! When the 60C is just too big, Ill bring the legend. Plus if you are urban caching, you can act like you are talkin on it!
  15. If magellan had a small series like the etrex and geko lines I guarantee I would get one to see how the other half lives...
  16. He downloaded the update that RK mentioned.
  17. Id get rid of it and get the Geko, just due to its size. I have a 60c, but sometimes I don't want to lug it around, in which case I will use my legend in 'stealth mode' Good luck to ya Phishy You go to UCSB dont you?
  18. Makes no sense. Turn all off/metroguide on, and set detail to max and see what happens
  19. Feature Request 1) True ppc menu system 2) Show whether cache is archived 3) More filters (cache size etc) Thanks for a great program
  20. Absolutely not my friend. Install mapsource (the ways and trips thing) and download easymps. Problem solved Edit: and it only took 9 mins for an answer Oh yea 1 more thing... GPSBabel wil accomplish the same thing.....(just takes an additional step)
  21. Will this full text search apply to waypoint names? ie search for tk and gctk41 shows up.. Excellent program. Thanks!
  22. Well AFAIK, it hasn't been discussed, just mentioned I need to do some testing to see what is there and what isnt. EDIT: I deleted all the maps for my area and just installed a 1meg map in S. Dakota or somewhere. I still had the exit poi from the basemap for my area. It would have been bonehead of Garmin to do otherwise, but I was worried. It would be nice of Garmin to give the marine poi database (if thats what is erased) in mapsource format so we could load that along with CS maps. Also nice would be a more complete basemap in that format. Unless I am going on a trip, 30 megs of data is plenty, so I haveroom for that other stuff. PS It sure is nice to be able to acquire satellites here in my computer room! My legend will only do it 32% of the time
  23. Here is my area w/all 56 megs filled up. Not quite the density of Cruzin's area, but fit Nashville, Memphis, Atlanta, Knoxviile, Chattanooga Birmingham, Lexington and Louisville into 1 download with autorouting. Add the autorouting basemaps and thats perfect. The only question I have that I havent answered is if I plan a trip out west to San Fran, and load in its detail maps, do I lose the exit pois for the basemap? The reason I ask is that some POIs are listed as download from the garmin site because they get erased.
  24. Interesting I unlocked mine from the web site and it asked for the 8 digit serial. I did this cause the mapsource id unlock locked up hehe
