  1. Has nobody noticed Skyhawk2 comment about his posting Why should he have recieved such a message and by whom? As a newbie I would be very much offended, and I might just decide to distance myself from such "civilized people." Don't you guys live in the land of the free?
  2. Hallo Haffy Thank you for yor expert and detailed explanation of this dreaded infectious disease. I never thought that it could be so dangerous. After I took the self-test it was confirmed that I am in stage III - my wife says so! As soon as I get out of rehabilitation I am going to spend my time and knowledge to finding a cure for all afflicted Geocachers. Thinking of developing a vaccine for Geocachers and an anti-viral spray for GPS'r. Please excuse me - I have to rush away but I will be back for more conversation soon. Triptrick, I hope the damage to the vehicle is minor, would you be taking your brothers Jeep to the event? Regards LeonW
  3. Hi NotBlonde It almost seems like an anti-climax with the mystery solved that you started unknowingly. It did not cause me any distress anyway - but a mystery is like a good book. ( You are not by any chance the originator of the GSA-coin? ) Please, don't tell. I bought two coins because I think it is beautiful - but I would not think of releasing them into the wilds of South Africa - it is not a safe place - I would rather protect them in a warm and friendly home. Congratulations on your coin, I would not fret about a misconcieved perception by others. LeonW
  4. Eishh, met vleis ja, met braaivleis...
  5. Psssttt, Triptrick Are you ready, got your listings, GPS, extra batteries, cooldrinks, full tank of petrol? O.K.! So where are we off to during this weekend? There are so many nice caches in the Roodepoort area, and Magaliesburg ... I will be working on the caches, got an idea or two - but it needs a lot of thought (being my first) to get it just right. Now let me wish you all the best of cache hunting over the weekend, I will quietly slip away, don't tell anybody of our ...... shhhh.
  6. Is it possible to buy the coin? I checked the normal list of sellers but did not come across it. Did I miss it or could it be that the "SAGC" is not available on the market?

    PQ's

I also did not get any PQ because my service provider blocked all Geocaching.com mail. Answer to problem was to get a googlemail address, which I use as the alternate e-mail address. Got all my PQ . Look up this link for a good tutorial on PQ's. : http://www.markwell.us/pq.htm Welcome to the Addiction LeonW
  8. Happens to the best of us. "Eugene"
  9. Hi Briansnat Would you mind if I use your Disclaimer on any future listings of mine? Regards LeonW
  10. Hi Cache-fan You are too modest, with 56 hides, 600+ finds, how can you consider yourself semi - experienced? You are one of the reasons that I have bloodshot eyes from a lack of sleep trying to solve your puzzles and those devious ones of Globalrat, Team Farmers etc. Thanks for the advice, what you have already forgotten I still need to learn. Thank you for your caches, as there are quite a few in my area which I still need to crack. Regards LeonW
  11. I think that there would be a lot of interest in this coin. The current volume of posts are an indication. Please remember me for a set of these coins, including any Limited Editions that you may produce. It resemble to me a GeoPortal to caching on Earth. Beautiful clean design - put the distracting lettering on the sides. Have the front and back encased in translucent epoxy to give it even more depth. Good luck LeonW
  12. Hi Triptrick I am pleased that you feel so much better. Be assured that my intentions are noble, I just want to help a fellow member with GAD. Unfortunately you would have to wait for your little, but desirable, geocache related prize. Don't worry, the clues to the specific cache would be clear, if you find it, and present the code from the cache after the hunt to CrystalFairy, you will be rewarded. I will leave the "ietsie" in his capable hands for safekeeping. It would thus give you the opportunity to search for the cache even on another date, if necessary. This way I can make sure that this "ietsie" is not hijacked by a rat... or pirate. As you are upping the stakes with two caches by you, does it imply a challenge to all to try and place more than one new cache? This could send a few more Geocachers around the bend to becoming full blown GAD's. I were actually thinking along the same lines. Ooh no!, I must have contracted it. Regards LeonW
  13. French Can't understand how you think the Nuvi is overkill, and then you complain about the other units capabilities. Use the Nuvi for its intended use on the road, use the handheld on the trail in your hand. You will be a much safer driver. That is what I do! LeonW
  14. Thanks wavector Your post helped me a lot on the subject, it is the kids that are important here for most of the caches anyways. Adults do have a problem though. I would rather lean towards stocking the caches for the kids; young and 'older'. LeonW
  15. Poor poor Triptrick How do you feel today? (very smoothing tone of voice) I am joking - don't flame me! So you say there are no caches to be found on the way to Naboomspruit; well, after the two day event on 26 and 27 May at Warmbaths I am sure you would find lots more caches. Have a look at the organizers treat for you. Link: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC123XZ Had a cool idea just now, I will place a cache dedicated to you and a speedy recovery; if you do find the correct cache, I will give you a special little treat to lift your spirit! Hope to have wetted your interest in attending the event. We are looking forward to this event. LeonW
  16. Hi Triptrick Just found this discussion of an "Obsessed" Geocacher. Link: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=160816 there is mentioning of this cache Link: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d2-4ec141bcc772 I stand corrected: You and I are both healty participating members of the broader community. Pheww, I am O.K. everybody... LeonW
  17. Dear Triptrick Diagnosis You are addicted to Geocaching. Prognoses There is no cure but to sustain your addiction, that means when you run out of caches, you would need to start placing caches. Which is good for fellow geocachers. Just think of all the possibilities of placing caches along the tracks ( Tracks 4 Africa?). Cost You are over the first hurdle - it is not going to cost you much more in the feature; that is what I tell my better half. Sleep deprivation Only help I can offer for this ailment is to stop solving the diffucult puzzles; note to self - don't stay up till 2:30 am trying to solve riddles, algebra, cryptic clues. Social behaviour Don't tell your co-workers, boss, friends, family, or priest and they would not recommend psychological treatment - they might just think you are slightly mysterious, which is good! The support group is right here on the forums. Attending events is also good for the whole family. As you are now fully aware of the addiction and its prognoses, make haste and hide a few caches soon. Greetings LeonW
  18. Got my Nuvi 660 now for 4 months and I can highly recommend it. Just remember that it is a Street navigator and excell in doing that. It is not a Garmin GPS60CSX, as a sportcar is not a Land Rover pickup. Although it can only handle one via-point is does not matter after a while of using, you start to tweak the route using "brainpower"; and always consult a map if you can't afford to be wrong about an intended route. Navigate to the www.Garmap.co.za site for an interesting forum on Street Map navigation and the potential problems. LeonW
  19. Good news, hopefully I will also recieve my coins, starting to dought the mailman though. LeonW
  20. *LOST* ? You are not lost - you got the GPS - it is the cache that does not know it is *LOST* Enjoy the new addiction, it does not ever get boring if you seek out the good caches. That is the value of reading the posts. But a word of warning - beware the Geocoin addiction. LeonW
  21. To all Geofeasters A all new difficulty rating is needed, we need to retain the difficulty, terrain but a culinary item is proposed. This way I could make an informed decision on the merit of hunting a "lame" or micro cache. If it has a 5 star culinary rating that would up the cache's merit for me. Looks like I need to make a plan to attend the next feasting (no singing Bard's allowed - meat with bacon rashers is O.K.) While everybody is at the restaurant, I could slip off to find the caches and be FTF. I am also available as a volunteer Geofeasting Moderator and Charter Member. LeonW
  22. Hi Geoff Ogden I ran into the same kind of difficulty of not getting my validation e-mail after I became a Premium Member about two months ago. After numerous subit-a-card letters, the controllers did validate my e-mail address themselves. Be patient, they will sort it out. What I have found is that it is best to create an alternative e-mail address like at GoogleMail, or Yahoo Mail. Looks like e-mail to my telkom mailbox gets blocked. When you need the PQ later it is also delivered to these alternative e-mail boxes without problems associated with the normal address. Just something I have found to work for me. You could therefore change your e-mail address on the profile, ask for a new validation e-mail to be send to the new address, and pick it up at the new e-mail box. Others would also be helping for sure, but as they might have been registered for a longtime now they have not run into this type of problem. At least GC has installed a new server to help with their IT problems. Hope you are soon up and caching. LeonW
  23. Thanks GlobalRat I do appreciate your reply to these "snoeperye" - and I would do a request for them next time we visit Sandton - Rosebank area. Notes has been taken and saved. Got an idea, instead of hunting caches it would be even nicer if we started hunting a real pot of food and dessert at a destination on the GPS. The ultimate use for a GPS - finding food. We could call it Geofeasting! Let me chew this over a bit, excuse all the puns. LeonW
  24. French Your opinion does matter, to me! I can only concur with you about the state of swag in caches, and I have been at this game only three months. The best swag I have seen was in a remote PM cache. It did make me think about my future caches. LeonW
