  1. MamaCache, this is great! My nephew also has Aspergers syndrome and, as you know, it has been a constant education for all of us. Definitely count me in for more than one!
  2. If you go into the "My Account" section on the website and choose bookmark lists, you can create one of your own. You then have the option to make it "public" or not. Then, when you are looking at cache listings, you can bookmark them from there. The in the "My Account" section you can choose your bookmark lists and quickly find the cache lists you "bookmared" earlier.
  3. I think Snickers is more interested in the sent of the last cacher (human and/or canine) than the cache itself, but she has helped us find them that way.
  4. I cache with my dog...she's really good at finding things and she often distracts the muggles for me. They're so busy asking about her that they don't think to ask what I'm doing. And I'd much rather take pictures of her at a cache than trying to take a self-portrait. I'd take my cat, but he wouldn't go outside if you left the door open for 3 days...I have enough geostripes of my own, don't need the ones the cat would add! Dog + Jeep + geocaching =
  5. I've found that you can also go to the airlines website and do a search for GPS and most of them tell you whether or not you can use them. Continental's website doesn't mention a GPS specifically, but you can receive messages on your pager at any time, but only use your cell phone while the cabin doors are open, and your computer can't be used until above 10000 feet. Delta specifically mentions that they're allowed: http://www.delta.com/traveling_checkin/inf...vices/index.jsp American Airlines specifically mentions that they're prohibited (of course, they also specifically say you can't use a cordless mouse, either): http://www.aa.com/content/travelInformatio...sonal%20Devices
  6. I love my Wrangler! Even the dog loves it! I just grin as I go by the people that can't get back into the muddy/brushy areas. I may not get to a destination as fast...but there is little that can stop me from getting there.
  7. As a newer cacher myself, I like the idea. I'd be willing to try for it.
  8. Two cute puppies were waiting in the mail for me yesterday. Love the way that they turned out. Now my Snickers is telling me that she deserves her own. Gotta love the dog coins!
  9. Since most of his active caches are in Minnesota have you posted anything to the local forum asking if anyone has contact with him?
  10. I had a similar thing happen to me....I wrote down the number wrong. My suggestion is to email the owner, and perhaps the last person that placed the coin. They may have the number written in their personal logs.
  11. I freakin' love you mini-me. Sorry, just couldn't resist!
  12. I'm so glad I wasn't the only onet hat read the thread title and thought that it was Karma the person biting him on the butt. On a serious note, try to keep your head up. Been through the ugly divorce thing myself, luckily no children were involved. Best wishes.
  13. Glenn, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you, but my prayers are with you anyway in this time. Steph, once again, great job.
  14. I have one. And while I love the unit, I hate Magellan's customer/tech support -- or rather, their lack thereof. Normally, mine gets me to the cache itself within 5 to 10 feet, max. So far, I've only been caching in an area that I'm familiar with, so only using the base map that has been included has been sufficient. It has the major roads on it and if you're in an area that you know (or have at least a basic familiarity with), that's all you should need. 'Course if you're anything like I am as a newer cacher...it doesn't prevent unnecessary bushwhacking...
  15. Glad to see others are having this problem too (though mine is with my Explorist 210). It was working fine, then 30 minutes later it starts coming up with that error. If you go into Device Manager (at least in Windows XP) it says there is no longer a driver installed. If you try to install the driver from the CD, it says it doesn't match the hardware. Don't bother emailing Magellan tech support, they weren't much help. Told them everything I did and you can see their response below. BTW, I even told them that I'm a tech! Thanks for the tip regarding the cord, I'll order a new one and try that. I can enter the coordinates manually, but its so much easier using the geocaching software to transfer the info! From Magellan: Thank you for contacting Magellan. This email is in response to your query about the Explorist 210. I understand that you are having difficulties in getting the unit detected on your computer. Before you start doing these steps please check with the operating system in your PC. Because only WINDOWS XP, 2000 would be compatible with Magellan. MACINTOSH would not be compatible with Magellan. 1. Connect the USB cable to the Explorist unit in such a way that the USB cable is pointing downwards towards the battery case. 2. Make sure that the unit is put up in the file transfer mode. After connecting the USB cable to the unit press menu and press enter in the file transfer mode. 3. Make sure that you have connected the USB cable to the rear port and not to the front port of the PC. Then your unit would be detected as a new hardware under "Removable disk E:\\ or G:\\ or F:\\" 4. If you have any external devices like web cam or printer connected to the USB port please remove them. 5. Also if you have any firewall or antivirus enabled in your PC please go ahead and disable them. Then restart your PC. 6. Then remove the USB cable from your unit and power off the unit and then connect the USB cable and then power on the unit. If the issue still persists, and If you could not install the CD then I would suggest you to please give a call to the technical support department number 1-800-707-9971 so that we would walk you through the trouble shooting steps to fix this issue. If you have further queries, please get back to us. You can also contact our Technical Support at 1-800-707-9971 for further assistance. ------------------------------------ Regards, Steve Magellan Email Support.
  16. The contest site added a link to all the submitted pictures yesterday, so you can go and see what everyone has submitted.
  17. FSM, just got my coins today. You'll be happy to know that none of them require using a red-tipped cane. Sorry that you had such drama with these, but they came out truly beautiful. As for releasing....don't know yet, kinda wrapped up in the noodly appendages right now.
  18. Woo hoo! 2 Silver FSM coins 1 Antique Gold Geocachingdragon 2007 person coin Can't wait to see what gets here tomorrow!
  19. I upload all my geocaching pictures to snapfish -- I can then share them with others or have them printed out. Since I can caption them how I want, I usually put the cache name, the waypoint, the city/state location, the date found and then copy/paste the coordinates. One of the options in Snapfish is that you can order your photos as a photo book. Myself, I prefer to scrapbook them myself and I like to use handwriting in my journalling (either my own, or a handwriting font). Printing from Snapfish is excellent, you can get glossy or matte. Then, I use the my account page to quickly get to my logged caches, copy and paste the log text into Word and print it, or handwrite it in the scrapbook depending on my mood.
  20. Order placed. My geodog partner told me I had to.
  21. And you end up in places that you never knew existed...like a sidewalk through urban wetlands in the middle of a housing development.
  22. I'm in Orlando, so not too far away. Welcome to geocaching! We've just really started earlier this month and are enjoying it. Watch out for the saw palms!
  23. Just got my coin...Karma these really turned out beautiful (didn't make it to the mailbox yesterday strange I know). I thoroughly love it and am eagerly waiting the next in the series.
  24. If you can save to the unit, what about this? View the printer friendly version of the cache page. Go to file | save as and in the save as type box, make sure you choose web page, complete. This will save a .htm file with what name you give it. Then you can open that file up in the browser, just as if you were on the Internet. Otherwise, the other options I'm aware of to make this a "picture" requires copying and pasting into another application. HTH
