  1. I'm not seeing any favorite point numbers on the map in my app. (Android phone). Is this something that needs to be turned on? Or do I need to delete the app and re-add it? Or...? UPDATE: Never mind. Once I panned outside of my area, I'm now seeing it. Strange, though, I thought it was meant to show the top favorited caches (percentage) as you panned around on the map, no matter what caches you had on your screen. In other words, if you've panned on the screen to a point that only had 10 caches showing, at least one of them should display a number. Isn't that what the announcement said? ("As you pan around the map, the algorithm highlights the top 10% of caches")
  2. Thought it was strange that the current JackLink's trackables promotion isn't listed on the Geocaching Promotions page, either in the "Live" section at the top, or in the Promotion Partners section at the bottom of the page: https://www.geocaching.com/promotions/ If you go to the description of one of the trackables itself, you can find a link going to the specific JackLink's page . . . https://www.geocaching.com/live/promos/jacklinks . . . but why isn't JackLink's posted on the official Promotions page? Just wondering.
  3. I was wondering the same thing myself. I just logged my 5th and final of the five different types. So far ... crickets. Nothing. What is the "special math bonus?" ????
  4. OK... My Builder Guide is printed out, so I could handily refer to it as I was "building" while at Ground Zero.... Oh, well, that makes a difference. WHY wouldn't this function be available through the app?????? Yes, now that I followed that link, I see a credit in the top, right. Guess I need to make a bookmark of that page and use my phone's browser. The next time I go down there, that is. Thanks for the assistance.
  5. Regarding: ...and: Nope. I've signed out and signed back in. It still only allows me to "Opt in" for receiving a future credit, or requesting a credit, etc. Nowhere does it show me already having a credit. And I already have a copy of the Builder Guide. Nowhere on my app/account does it show me where I can Create an Adventure as per the instructions in the Builder Guide. I had planned this whole afternoon to work on this, at ground zero, and have been gathering photos, coordinates and other research for weeks. Ended up having to turn around and drive home, so I could find the email of when I was awarded the credit. It shows I have until March 31st. But the app shows no ability for me to create an A.L., only to request for one to be awarded sometime "in the next few months." Very frustrated.
  6. I was awarded an Adventure Lab credit a couple of months ago. I'm now sitting at the location I've chosen, attempting to build the A.L., and my credit is nowhere to be seen! What happened???
  7. Thanks very much!! I just updated the setting. I appreciate it!!
  8. Wow, this thread is nearly 10 years old. I just found one of these Fallen Heores geocoins in a cache yesterday, and was fascinated. I was interested in perhaps purchasing some myself, but when I go to the link in the "Fallen Heroes Geocoins" profile it takes me to a Japanese website. Yikes. Bummer, because this was a great idea.
  9. OMG. Thanks very much. At this point my mind is so muddled from this that I have no idea how this happened. I could have sworn.... Anyway, I appreciate your (and IceColdUK and other commenters') patience and replies. I will continue tweaking and fine-tuning. By the way, I also apologize for how long it takes me to respond here. I have tried to find a way to make this system notify me (via email) of new replies to my posts, but I was unsuccessful. So I only get the notification icon at the top when I remember to come specifically into the forums. Thanks again.
  10. No, it's not hidden under the EarthCache icon. The steps I went through when I noticed it missing were rather complicated. If you feel like trying to reproduce it, it would be much appreciated. But I don't expect you to if you don't have the time. Let's see if I can re-trace the steps: 1). Created the original Parking waypoint at the time of creating the cache. (It allows you to choose one during the process of creating the cache). 2). Later decided to add "Point of Interest" waypoints. While in Edit mode, I clicked on "Add Waypoint." When you do this, the system adds what appears to be a new (2nd) Parking waypoint, but that's just the default name that shows in the Type section. If you look toward the right, you'll see that one of these has "P0" in the Prefix section, indicating this is your original Parking waypoint. The other (new) one has "01" in the Prefix. Well, I didn't notice this at first. All I saw was that there were two Parking waypoints, so I went about editing one of them to be my new "Point of Interest" waypoint. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I accidentally picked the "P0" waypoint and changed it to being the "Point of Interest" waypoint 1. 3). At some point I realized my mistake, but am not sure if it was immediately after this, or after I'd added a 2nd "Point of Interest" waypoint. But once I realized the Prefix columns were showing different codes (which is around the same time I noticed the Parking icon was no longer showing on the map), I tried to go back and fix what I'd messed up. By that time, when out of Edit mode, I saw that the Waypoint section was no longer showing a code in the Lookup column, either. So I kept trying to figure out how to edit the Lookup column (I'd looked at one of my other caches to see that Parking waypoints also have a "P0" in the Lookup column) but I could never access this field. So that's when I presumed that this column had something to do with the Parking icon displaying on the map. 4). At this point nothing was working, so I went back and deleted the Parking waypoint altogether. That didn't fix it. So then I deleted all of the "Point of Interest" waypoints, too. Still didn't fix it. But at this point I noticed if I went back and re-added a "new" Parking waypoint, the system was "remembering" my prior parking coordinates. So that tells me that the system is not really *truly* deleting my Parking waypoint when I delete it. Somehow it's "remembering" what parking coordinates I'd used before, and is defaulting to them whenever I try to add a Parking waypoint. OK, that's about all I can remember of how I got into this predicament. Thanks in advance for any help. John
  11. Thanks. I already tried that, as mentioned in the 2nd paragraph of my original post. The parking icon still will not return to the map.
  12. To follow up, here's an image from one of my other geocaches. Notice how the "Lookup" column has a "P0" in it. I think this may have something to do with the icon displaying on the map. But I can't figure out how to edit that field. How do I edit the "Lookup" column and/or get the parking icon to reappear on the map? Thanks in advance.
  13. Hello. I am in the process of developing a new EarthCache, and have been working on it over several days. (It has not been submitted for publishing yet). At the time I initially created it, I added a Parking waypoint, and it was displayed on the map with "P" parking icon. Today I was in the process of adding three Reference Point waypoints, and at some point during this process I noticed the Parking waypoint icon had disappeared from the map, and only the Reference Point icons were showing. My first thought was: maybe the map has a limit of how many icons it can show. So I decided to delete two of the Reference Points (they weren't all that important for finding/answering the EarthCache questions; I was just adding them for detail), but this did not make the Parking icon return. I then tried deleting ALL of the waypoints (including the Parking one), and then re-added it, but the icon still will not return. I had noticed my original Parking waypoint entry had shown some sort of code under the "Lookup" column ("P0" just like the Prefix column), but now it's no longer there. (See attached image). Is this why it's not displaying on the map? Is there any way to edit the Lookup column to add the code back? How can I get the Parking icon to show on the map again? Thanks, John
  14. Hello, all. I am the starter of this thread. To address some of the comments above-- Yes, I contacted the person before I ever made the original post. One single message. They replied back with multiple, snotty emails, and started the line of crap about "harassing my daughter," etc. I chose to ignore them. Not worth getting into a continued argument with an obvious abuser/cheater. And, as TmdAndGG mentioned above, the user went back and added the log that mentions me, AFTER I sent my one-and-only message to them, in an effort to deflect from their cheating. Again, I sent them ONE single message. Not harassing. They in turn sent MULTIPLE (harassing) emails to me for having called them out. Guilty much? At this point, I don't care. As others have mentioned above, it's not worth the effort to worry about. Am I annoyed by lazy armchair geocachers who have nothing better to do that cheat at a game? Yes. Am I going to worry about it further? No. Let them be their pathetic selves. Thanks to those who offered helpful comments.
  15. How do we report a fraudulent user? I've been searching in the Forums & couldn't find an appropriate/active thread. "owlcoconut" is a fake/armchair geocacher & is logging fake finds. Currently at 110 & still rising for today alone. Including caches known to be missing. Thanks.
  16. Sorry, forgot about this topic for a few days. Just checked the TB again, and now it's showing the correct mileage. Not sure if that's because of the issue being (directly) resolved, or because I've since visited another cache thus allowing the mileage to re-calculate, or both. At any rate, it's now fine.
  17. No, it hasn't cleared up (for me) today. It's still showing incorrect mileage (but over 500 miles different than the incorrect mileage from yesterday!)
  18. Hello. Is it just me, or is something very wrong with the way this trackable's mileage is being calculated? The TB's number is TB7K2DN. It was placed in a cache in Maine (GC4H9VE) on May 25th, and received 2,402.36 miles as a result of that journey. I retrieved it today. Then I went to another nearby cache (GC1C8JF), only a half-mile west. But the mileage is showing it went another 2,401.82 miles since the preceding cache. ????? Thanks, John
  19. I was one of the early posts of this problem, but it seems to have been recently fixed for me. But I also got a new phone recently (Android - Galaxy A50), so I'm not sure if it fixed because of the new phone or just because the issue was finally repaired right about the same time as I got my new phone. Either way, the problem is finally gone for me.
  20. Original Poster here. steve4nlanguage's suggestion worked!! Thanks very much!! @kunarion: Correct, it wasn't the app update itself which caused the problem, but as a *direct result* of the app update it changed my default map to the Trails option, which doesn't allow the final zooming at ground zero. (And the overall appearance of the Trails version is such that I didn't notice any difference at first from my prior/Street version). I don't care for the Satellite map version (and haven't tested it for zooming), but would recommend either the Street or Terrain versions. Either one allows for ground zero zooming. Thanks again!! Much appreciated!! John
  21. Interesting question. I never change my map setting, and had just assumed it always stayed the same for me. (Mine was currently set on Trails). But when I just looked at the options, the Trails, Street, and Terrain versions all look so similar overall that I'm not sure which one I may have been using all along. I see now that the Street and Terrain versions let me zoom in much closer. Perhaps when my phone updated the app the other day, it defaulted to the Trails version when I'd always used Street before...? Just guessing. I will definitely try it again tomorrow in the field, this time using the Street or Terrain map instead of Trails. Thanks very much!!! John
  22. I had been trying to help a friend of mine whose app map will never let her zoom-in past a certain point. Then, lo and behold, with the latest app update the other day (Version 8.0.1, as of 7/03), now MY app's map is doing the same thing! You can use your fingers to zoom-in, but only to a certain point and then it stops. It makes navigating once you arrive at Ground Zero absolutely impossible! And it makes no difference whether you've clicked on "Start"/"Navigate" for that cache or whether you just use the map without selecting a specific cache. Is anyone else encountering this? Is there a fix? A work-around? Thanks, John
  23. Same thing is happening to me. Yesterday I deleted the app and then re-added it, and it's still doing it.
  24. Same thing is happening to me! For quite a while now. Yesterday I got frustrated and deleted the entire app, and then re-loaded it, and it's STILL doing it! And this has been happening since January?? How long does it take to fix??
