  1. It's not only the CO, but also other players. Recently I saw two caches where NA logs were posted, where other players reacted like it would be a command "take the cache down!", while it was only a reminder, that the cache is out-of-service for a long time or is not following current guidelines. There are CO's though, that won't react to anything else than a NA log, and I see people being scared of notifying the reviewer that way, as it would be something wrong and inappropriate. Changing the name of the type of log would make it, in my opinion, less categorical.
  2. I saw also cases where the changed name of the owner was used to be a part of a puzzle (Mystery cache)
  3. Could you provide more details? My friend is having a similar problem. The scenario is showing up as unfinished, despite he did finish it.
  4. I was of course talking about the main geocaching map, because that was the topic. I'm personally currently using GCDroid with the export from the new macro for GSAK, but there are no AL's position shown. Could you provide more details on how you're fetching the data?
  5. There is a plan to feature Adventure Labs on the geocaching map, but only the main icon. Each stage individually won't ever show up on the geocaching map and that is "by design". Sadly that's how it is. Currently there are no AL's on the map and the bonus caches you are referencing to, are regular mystery caches and that's why they are visible on the main map.
  6. I remember some time ago there was a survey created by the HQ, where one of the most desired changes to the site was to replace Needs Archived with Needs Reviewer Attention. The main argument was, that more often caches just need to be turned off or changed in a way, where only a local reviewer can force it. I also saw a lot of people confused about NA logs, thinking they are aimed at the owner and the main goal is to take the cache down, when it mostly isn't. What happened to that idea? Anyone remembers it?
  7. To be honest, all the changes they make are so insignificant and unnoticeable, that it would only be a new topic where people could just show how dissatisfied they are with the app. There are still so many basic features missing, that no one would care about the smaller fixes.
  8. A friend of mine recently have run into a weird bug regarding one account: https://www.geocaching.com/p/default.aspx?u=nckultury&tab=geocaches#profilepanel If you look into the profile you can see that this account has six Letterboxes in possession, but the main profile stats (next to the username) show 0 hides. If we take a closer look, we will see that not only the hide count, but also the favorites count is incorrect (screen on the right). My guess is that it has something to do with the process of cache adoption, all six of these were adopted after ca. 1 year from being published. I thought the problem may be that "nckultury" account had no own caches before the process of adoption, but I know a different player who started the exact same way, by adopting some old caches, and all stats were shown correctly for him from the beginning. Maybe it has something to do with the trackables count being replaced with favorite points at some point, but this is just a guess.
  9. Trackable updates on an Adventure Lab app? Huh?
  10. There are many graffities made on request of the property owner. I have often seen such projects, mainly founded by the city, to make the surrounding more colourful. For example pillars under a viaduct or walls of an underground passageway.
  11. I recently run into this kind of memorial: which was placed on the 100th anniversary of regaining independence by Poland. Is there currently any category where this would fit? I'm surprised that there is a category like "spirit of '76" dedicated only for the USA (specific and not global), but there is nothing about independence overall.
  12. As I already said, I understand now. This is reasonable and I agree with that. But what is the next step, because I guess it's not within our competence?
  13. It's not like, this exact same information is 4 posts above yours
  14. Yes. It changed very quickly, I guess after a few months after first ALC's have been published around the world. This change has been received very negatively by the community. No wonder, this absolutely killed creativity and the only possible way to make labs interesting at all. The funny part is, that with every other cachetype you have the grandfathered rule, but not here. All ALC's containg physical elements and currently running "live" are against the guidelines and can be taken down. I also played labs with physical elements during the MEGA and I guess they're running on different set of rules.
  15. I would say that your posted waymark is definitely made with special equipment and is different from the type of "street-art" that this category is made for. Two examples you've provided are also looking like a graffiti to me. I don't want to judge, but I can see the difference, however it is hard to explain.
  16. niraD already explained it with highlighting the quote "or to the final container." Multi-Cache has multiple stages. They can be visible, they can be hidden, doesn't matter. The only important thing is, that they are for something, and the need of visiting at least one additional stage to get to the final makes it a multi.
  17. You just quoted a proof that this is a Multi-Cache, not a Mystery Cache. Read it again carefully.
  18. Not solving something at home doesn't make it instantly a multi. Last month I run into a mystery cache where you had to solve a dominoes quiz on the site. To be honest, your idea is more multi-ish than the one you've brought up, at least for me I would recommend to use this "strategy" while deciding: Is your cache solvable/doable without internet search, specialistic knowledge and having to do a quiz-like task? ==> definitely a Multi But of course there are multis where you have to think and make some kind of investigation for example, then you have to decide if its mysterious enough to get the mystery cachetype. Your idea is a multi, even without the attribute of field-puzzle.
  19. Thanks for the clarification, I wasn't fully aware of that. I can only feel stupid now I also found a mistake in my understanding of the whole difference between Political Revolutions and the Eastern Freedomfights category. So let's pretend my first reply doesn't exist. If as you say there is a possibility to just merge the whole topic of Uprisings into the currently existing category, with having control over it by the WMadmin or others, then I think that makes a lot of sense.
  20. That idea would be an optimal solution, but would lead to other problems. I don't know if thats okay to just go into a category and set it the way we like, without any approval from the leader or officers (despite them being not active). I mean very similar thing was done with the Shop24 category (or will be done in the next days), but that is something different - the change is marginal. I think fights against communism (current EF - Monuments of the Eastern Freedomfights) are indeed different, than the idea of an uprising, but they are very close to the Political Revolutions category. The problem is also the name of the EF, which suggests that it concerns all fights for the freedom of Eastern Europe, when in fact it only concerns the concrete ones - those directed against communism. I understand why, but that should overlap with Policital Revolutions category already, which is not accepting communism . So pushing another idea into this would make it even more abstruse. Also, imagine we can somehow merge Uprisings topic with EF. What could we do about the inactive members of that group? We can't just kick them out of their own group and try to take it over in a way. Of course we could give some new people the "officer" rank, but I think it would be hard to control the group from the backseat or only through the wm admin. It can also be a problem later, when the group members log in and realize what happened
  21. I'm writing here to get some opinions about an idea that came to me recently. When I started creating waymarks for my area (lets say Poland overall) I was adding some of the monuments regarding the Warsaw Uprising. There are a lot of these in Warsaw and not only there. Of course as it was during the WW2, I added them to the proper category World War II Memorials / Monuments. But when I was thinking about it, I thought something is not right. When looking through various memorials in this category, they are mostly related to the global conflict itself and to various big fights which took place, where a lot of soldiers died. The uprising is a little different though. Poland was occupied, and regular people just fought for they own freedom. And to be clear, there were also other Uprisings in different time and different countries. Examples: Greater Poland Uprising (1848), November Uprising (1830), Warsaw Ghetto Uprising (1943), June Uprising (in Lithuania, 1941), Prague uprising (Czech Rep., 1945) and many more. I would also like to say that places and monuments related to such events that took place in Poland, are very important to us Poles and are the core of our national identity. Some may say that these events fit into the Monuments of the Eastern Freedomfights, but uprisings weren't a fight against communism which this category is for, but against an occupant. There is also a category Political Revolutions, but none of these was a political fight, these were fights for independency. So what do you think about a category for places related to Uprisings overall? Can such a thematic part be separated? Should it be expanded a little more? Would it have the chance to past the peer review? I would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks
