  1. To be honest I'm just saying it is possible to move it and if it's not a huge change it won't be anything bad. I don't recommend doing so, I'm showing only how it's working in reality. Like a fun fact in a way I see your point though and agree that we should try to do what was intended in the first place.
  2. That's true. Every coordinates change has to be confirmed later on by the local reviewer, but when the change is justified and subtle you should be fine with that
  3. My firefox, told me on GC3Q91P, that: In translation: "Some elements of this site (e.g. images) were not sent in a secure way." But I checked this on Chrome and this cache website was secure, all normal. Maybe it's some kind of a bug regarding different browsers?
  4. That's true, but there is a workaround. You can just move the cache 'n' times on the max. distance of 161 meters. But I agree with CAVinoGal, why should you move this cache? Better leave it where it is, or just archive it if you don't want to maintain it anymore in this location.
  5. I don't see how the "number of smileys" can influence the ability of getting a bonus cache. If you're so worried about stats just create a separate account, do the labs on this account, and get the bonus on the main. Here you go! A workaround, which I guess some people already use. I also don't like how labs are functioning, but that's reality and you have to accept it. Or ignore it, but then no complaints about not reachable bonuses.
  6. Not all caches are for everyone you know. Labs are not the best, but they are a part of geocaching and you have to accept it. Adding these caches to ignored may be a solution, but you may also just do the labs and get the bonus? Or you can always cooperate with someone who would take you with him to the bonus cache final.
  7. You can always pass the cache for a second to someone else and log a found there
  8. Yeah, no. I completely mixed up different things there, I'm sorry for that. I've edited my response Your goal is to minimize the distance to a cache to minimum. The +/- is only showing you how much you can trust your position. If it shows less than 10 meters you are pretty fine with that, but over 134 meters is complete madness.
  9. I think that would be okay, as it is available most of the week (5/7 days). The interpretation may vary, but I think that's the right way to understand it.
  10. These numbers you marked with arrows, are showing you the current accuracy of your GPS signal. So if you have 18 meters to a cache and accuracy of +/- 6m, it means your GPS signal is inaccurate of max. 6 meters in either direction. So the cache may be in reality closer or further away of about 6 meters.
  11. Wooden Geocoin. It's a collectors item. Let's say it's a geocaching currency in a way Very popular in Europe - mainly in Czech Republic, Poland and Germany. You can read something about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geocoin#Signature_items I couldn't find any other non-commercial site with the explanation or definition, you can lookup yourself Edit; there is even a website to order your own collection if you ever start: https://cwg.gcm.cz/
  12. In my area some people leave certificates, but I personally never did such a thing, cause I'm not good at "art" xWG for a start is also cool, even when this is only your personal.
  13. Okay, I see what the problem was. I used an external html editor (https://bestonlinehtmleditor.com/), which already converted the " into html codes and I just redid the thing, which destroyed it. Thanks for clarifying this for me. This workaround will be very helpful for making more quality descriptions Edit: I have even found a better converter which is only converting the diacritics and leaving the apostrophes and others as they are, so it's not crashing: https://www.emailonacid.com/resource/character-converter/
  14. No, sadly they will not: https://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/wm13N0E_Advertising_Column_of_Culture_Centre_Karczew_Poland
  15. I just tested it out and this seems to be working! But it destroys some other character, like the apostrophes: " Example here: So in a way it works, but it has to be used carefully
  16. I don't know exactly how it works with EarthCaches, as they are a little bit different, but this should not happen. In my country all caches sent to review by a reviewer are checked by a different reviewer from a different area. There is never a situation where the local reviewer is publishing his own caches. It is highly discouraged as everyone can make a mistake or misunderstand some rules - even a reviewer!
  17. Then you're lucky, like me But I heard stories from my close friends who had this "pleasure" of getting their logs deleted (of course groundless) by an owner who wanted to play the sheriff. It's worth mentioning that there already is a feature like this when it comes to images posted in logs. While deleting someones image (for example because it shows too much) you can specify a reason for this action which is then passed in an e-mail to this person. So having the same for logs sounds reasonable, right?
  18. You're not exactly right It handles different languages easily. Example: I used Spanish letters and symbols and here is the result: They are showing up with no problems. Of course the ROT-13 is not going to work, but it shouldn't in this case so it's ok.
  19. It's about time to write a topic about the problem with diacritics in the cache listing. In Polish language there are some unique letters: ą, ż, ź, ś, ć, ę, ń, ó. Sadly, they are not showing up everywhere. There is no problem with using them in the main description, but in the hint or image description, there is. What is happening? When writing a hint on the edit cache page (lets use "ążźśćęńó" for test purposes) it looks like this: But looking into the cache listing: Yes. All letters except for the "ó" are converted into A-Z letters. The website is completely ignoring the dashes and little tails. Some words written that way sound completely different. The same problem occurs in the "Edit Image" page (after uploading any photo to the cache listing). You just can't use these letters, and that's just sad. I guess it's about bad encoding and the core of the problem is somewhere deep in the web code. The exact same bug happens to be on the Waymarking.com page, but there it's even worse, because the website is getting rid of all these letters in the whole description. I can somewhat understand that Waymarking is not a focus for HQ (sad but understandable, I hope it changes soon), but geocaching.com in 2021 should allow to use all Polish letters, when it's even accepting emoji's (in hints, yeah!). It would be really nice of you to fix it, not only for me, but for all my fellow Polish friends Greetings
  20. Sadly I didn't get any. This sounds too good. One thing is missing mainly - a proper map possible to use in-field, like the one on geocaching, would make Waymarking playable and recommendable to friends. But that is only a dream now Edit: I just got mine, had to disable adblock (I forgot it's even on) Sadly answering the questions there was no real place to write suggestions.
  21. I just ignore these. I can't remember my first caches and I'm not even sure if I ever forgot a pen in the past. It's against the guidelines not to sign the logbook, but as an owner I don't care if someone post that kind of log. If this would be a challenge cache I would probably care about that, but I don't own any challenges right now.
  22. But it's still focusing on the topic of the US DAS. Categories focused on certain regions just shouldn't be a thing imo. There are a lot of stupid categories already, e.g.: -"signs of history" separated between states - each state has it's own, -Canadian benchmarks, US Benchmarks, Latvian Benchmarks and so on, instead of having just Benchmarks overall? I can imagine differences, between the continents, but there is already a category for all European benchmarks and also German as an example. Why would anyone do that? Your proposal is focused on one country, I think that is the problem.
  23. I've recently run into an art installation of a train: I'm not sure it is abstract enough to fit into the Abstract Public Sculptures category and I don't know where to finally fit it. Could anyone give me a hand?
  24. The caption is not used anywhere. The description however is shown when you're in the gallery of a waymark and hover the image with your cursor. I would say naming or describing your photo in the image details is completely useless and unnecessary. It's much better to just describe it in the main description.
