  1. When you screwed it in right, was that with the cord going down the back? That's how mine is. Vista recognizes it using My Computer, but not through Geocache Manager. I'm going to try GSAK Yes cord going down the back. Good luck with GSAK. Took me a minute to figure that one out but I eventually did.
  2. Thanks everyone. I'm leaning towards getting the Nuvi 500 and using it and having my Explorist 400 for back up. I haven't decided if the Oregon is worth the money and is it easy to buy the right road maps and load them on the unit?
  3. Okay so for like 2 wks I have been searching the forum, reading reviews on Amazon, reading Garmin's website and talking to fellow cachers. I still can't decide. Want I'd like to know is which one of these will show and make a sound to tell me when to turn and then I can pull it out of the car and go find the cache with adequate accuracy. I own the Explorist 400 and am wondering if the Nuvi 200 will hold 500 POIs and will it do like the Nuvi 550 and show you with an arrow when you are approaching a POI and in which direction. That's the last thing I want to do is use to GPS to find caches but I will if it's more cost effective. I'd like to pull the GPS out of the box with up-to-date road maps and use gsak to transfer caches and walk out the door. Is this possible? I just moved to a new area and I don't own a road gps that will show me where to drive to get there. Completely paperless is cool but not required. I was reading something about special batteries to get the most out of the Oregon what are they and where do you buy them? Are there are threads answering these questions if you'll direct me there I'll read them. Thank you for your time. Seriously I'm torn and just want the best for my money. Getting my car to the cache is my biggest issue right now.
  4. Hey! I just got this problem solved. I was downloading the drivers from magellan's site and it wasn't working then I downloaded drivers from another guys site. But it still wouldn't work. I called customer service and he told me to turn my cord around I was screwing it into the back wrong. However, all these years before I knew I could send caches straight to my gps I was charging it with this cord screwed in upside down. As soon as I turned the cord around my computer with Windows Vista recognized my Explorist 400! I was dumb founded and felt stupid, the guy on the phone said don't worry the books never tell you the correct way to attach the thing in the back. I hope your problem is solved as simply as mine was! I'm sorry I don't know which driver did the job, I just believe I googled for EX400 drivers. And found some guy's site or I may have found his site through this forum. Also I use gsak to transfer the info to my gps. Works great.
  5. I need help! I just realized my Explorist 400 will take geocache transfers. However, I'm using Vista and it doesn't recognize the device. I've downloaded this driver you posted and the one from both the Magellan website and that other one listed at the bottom. It downloads a zip file which I extract but the only thing I get this is this UBER.sys file which I can't open. Edited to add: Under device manager it doesn't recognize my GPS at all.
