  1. Go back and read the thread about the newb comments. Plainly uncalled for. I can see what I done wrong, but nobody wants to see what this other guy has done too. I don't understand that. This guy has sent threatening and harassing emails and deleted WAY more than I have. I've done several very mature things. I tried to make peace with the guy, owned up to my faults, and then archived my cache. I learned my mistakes on day 1 when I ticked this guy off. I came here to find the only solution that I know would work with a person like this and that is to ignore them. Instead of getting a clear answer, immediately everybody wants to know "why", then I made the mistake of indulging everyone in my business. I should have simply asked if there was a way to ignore a user and left it at that. One of these days you people are going to say something that's going to tick somebody off without knowing. That person might end up being just as crazy as this person. Now we've had a trial and a hanging and it's time to go home.
  2. You folks still don't seem to understand why I deleted the first log. I agree, nothing was wrong with it. After I posted a NM log on his cache, he deleted the log and deleted my finds from his caches, and sent 3 very harassing and threatening emails. So, I repaid the favor and deleted his find, which I should not have done for many reasons that I understand now. But, the main part that some of you fail to see is every time he re-posts a log under a different user name, it gets progressively worse. He's only doing this as payback. Hey, I'm not bombing this guy with harassing and threating emails, posting bogus logs, and trying to destroy his cache. I've even tried to politely make peace with this guy and it still continues. If a person is going to get this crazy and bent of shape over something simple like this, then they are in need of professional help. This person has hundreds of finds and I only have a few. It looks to me like he could at least try to cooperate with me when I try to make peace with him. So, to end this and show everybody what a good player I am, I have archived my cache. I think this is the responsible and mature thing to do, which is more than I can say for this other guy. I enjoy geocaching, but after all of this, I doubt I will go geocaching again.
  3. Yes, I do have the answer to my question. I learned a lot from this experience. I learned that it is not okay under any circumstance to use the NM log even if you feel like a cache has been abandoned. I've learned that the number of finds on geocaching.com determines a persons knowledge and experience with gps technology. Any prior knowledge obtained before starting geocaching is dismissed and you automatically become a complete moron and newbee. I've also learned that if you don't think something is right with a cache, you better not say anything. You might end up ticking off some crazy person who will plague you like a fungus. I have the answer to my question, so if anybody wants to archive this, please feel free to do so. I don't see that option on my end. Thank You for your assistance.
  4. Please try to read this entire post. I'm going to be a clear as I know how. I'm sorry if it's not clear enough. I've been to the cache site twice. I tried to contact the cache owner on 2 different occasions this year asking very politely if he would give a hint or something. He never would respond, so I assumed he had abandoned the cache and posted the NM log. I figured that if anybody did find it, they would fix the problems and make sure the construction wouldn't interfere with it. In the NM log I stated that it appeared the cache had been abandoned, construction was going on in the area that might interfere with it, a missing geocoin problem that could be fixed very easily, and it was questionable whether he had permission to place the cache there. I stated that I had tried to contact the owner twice with no response, and that I felt uncomfortable while being starred at by the park ranger while turning over leaves and branches off the walking trail. After I posted the NM log, the owner finally responds by deleting my log and accused me of never even going to the cache site. How rude! This person had already visited and logged my cache. But after I posted the NM log on his cache, then he came back to edit his log and exaggerated the dog situation and blew it entirely out of proportion. His first log said the dog just barked, but kept his distance, TFTC. By the time this guy was finished fabricating his story the dog was chasing them and they had to hold it off with a stick. After he done this he emailed me and told me that he can post negative logs too. The dog didn't exist when I placed the cache, so after reading other logs about the barking dog, I went back to find the dog and then the owner. I talked to the owner and he agreed to restrain the dog. You can see that I posted a note about the dog. If the dog comes back I will remove the cache. I have every right to ignore anybody that I choose. I came here for a simple answer to a simple question, but I feel like I've been put on trial by the cache police. Apparently, there is no way to stop this guy from contacting me or posting bad logs, so I will contact him and ask politely AGAIN if he will please leave me alone. If he doesn't then I will just archive my cache, abandon my finds, and change my user name. Court adjourned. The jury may go home.
  5. No, 40 feet isn't bad, but some of the terrain is dangerous for people to go wandering around off the trail. Maybe he did have permission to place the cache. I tried unsuccessfully to contact the owner 2 times over the course of a year about the cache and it wasn't until I posted a needs maintenance log that he decided to "blow up" and retaliate against me. If I would have known that a simple request would turn into something like this, I would have ignored all of his caches and moved onto better things, but now he is being a pill and acting sort of psychotic. He sent 3 very long emails all within 10 minutes of each other. And another thing, what is it with cache owners not wanting to take responsibility for their caches or help people out when they can't find it? It's like everybody here is trying to justify his bogus retaliation against me, while scolding me for posting a NM log. When he deleted my NM log I didn't got back and continue to post negative comments. I left it alone.
  6. Ok folks, here is the rest of the story. The person who keeps posting negative comments has a problem with me because I marked his cache as needing maintenance. He sent a very rude email as well. His coordinates are off by 40 feet, the cache was in a national park, there were doing construction around the cache site, and there was a missing geocoin. There are other dnf's and bad coordinate logs to back me up. Now, for my cache, I found the owner of the dog, or puppy rather, and the situation is supposed to be fixed, but this problem person is persistent on continuing to log negative logs to keep people away from my cache. On the first log, the dog just barked, no problem, TFTC, etc., then after I posted the NM log on his cache he decided to change his log to say the dog was very bad. Then he posted another log with his child's account that said the dog chased them and that they had to hold the dog off with a stick. I don't like obnoxious dogs and I'm not trying to cover up the fact that a dog was there. I want every cacher to feel safe at my cache site and if there is a problem I can't correct I will remove the cache. However, this retaliation against me is uncalled for. At least I didn't put my cache in a national park and at least I check on my cache occasionally. The purpose of this post was not for people to start reading between the lines. I just wanted to know if there was a way to block a particular user. It will be fine with me if this other cache owner blocks me from their caches. I don't care. I just want to rid myself of this psychotic cacher. There is no other purpose, intent, or evil doing.
  7. Unfortunately, some cache owners take it as a blow to their ego when someone posts a NM request. I don't see any clearly defined rules as to when to use this button and some people interpret it differently. Some people form little geocaching groups and try to define their own set of rules. If you upset one cache owner in the group, then you've upset the whole group, which makes it difficult to cache that area. Here is a clip taken from the first cache placing requirements on gc.com: Step 5 - Maintain the cache Once you place the cache, it is your responsibility to maintain the cache and the area around it. You'll need to return as often as you can to ensure that your cache is not impacting the area, and ensure that the cache is in good repair. Once people have visited the cache, inquire about the cache and their opinion of the location. Does the area look disturbed? Are visitors disrupting the landscape in any way? If you have concerns about the location, feel free to move or remove it from the area.
  8. Is there a way to block a certain user from posting logs on my geocache? Someone is persistently re-logging negative comments for my cache. So far I've deleted their logs, but now they are re-posting with their children's accounts. I guess their next step will be to report me to gc.com for deleting logs. This is ridiculous. I will gladly pay for a premium membership if this is an included feature.
  9. I had a similar experience on Thanksgiving day. I went to look for a cache for the second try. I contacted the cache owner on the first try, but never got a response. I haven't been able to find this cache along with some other people. Some of the cachers who did find it said the coordinates were off by 40 feet and is missing a geocoin. This cache is in a high muggle federal park and they are also installing new water pipe in the area. I finally posted a needs maintenance log to correct the coordinates and to also make sure the water pipe construction wouldn't interfere with the cache. The cache owner got very mad, deleted my log, accused me of not even going to the cache, called me inexperienced/not devoted to geocaching, then went on to ramble about how many finds he had. I don't have hundreds of finds on gc.com, but I am very experienced with my gpsr due to other reasons. The cache owner basically said that since I had so few finds I didn't have an credibility. When did gc.com get to be the indicator of a persons gps experience? I don't know about other cache owners, but if I start getting dnf's I will go and check on it. If somebody says my coordinates are wrong, I invite them to help correct the problem. My experience with this cache owner has led me to believe that he feels like his little group of cachers are the only ones entitled to geocaching. I'm afraid that people like this will end up trying to govern the geocaching sport. The person who has the most finds isn't necessarily the right person for the job.
