  1. how about a little help or answers for the Boost people out here. I was given a i425 for Fathers Day and have nothing but frustration ever since. Trimble says Boost dropped the application, Boost says 1.) They have never heard of the program, 2.) The program is no longer available for any of their phones, 3.) It is available but not for the i425. Of the 4 or 5 times I talked to them these are the answers I have gotten. At this point I just want a straight answer. We currently have a plan through AT&T and were only planning on the Boost for the GN application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. I have a question about the Garmin Quest. My Father-In-Law is interested in getting started in geocaching and we are trying to find him a GPSr unit for around $150.00. We were looking at the quest because of the versatility as far as being able to use it in the car and on the trail. However, we don't have any experience with it and was hoping somebody could give us some feedback. Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated.
  3. come on guys somebody has to know something. Thanks
  4. Hello, does anybody know how to delete POI's out of the Garmin Street Pilot C320. When we first started using it that is how we loaded caches into it. We have since learned about GSAK and use it to install them as favorites but we cannot figure out how to get rid of the POI's.
  5. I would venture to say that about 90% of the micros that we have found were magnetic. However, maybe only 2 or 3 of those were hide-a-key containers. The main thing we have up here are magneto bison tubes and those darn nano containers which are about the size of the tip of your pinky magnetic as well.
  6. looks like I need to go to CA and try to grab some caches. yeah right I have almost given up on FTF's but I guess maybe that topic is for a different thread. We have put out 4 caches and left 2 unactivated TB's and a 5 dollar Wal-Mart gift card. Don't remember on the other one.
  7. Sounds like a decent idea. Will either of the street pilots overide the caches that are installed when I download the new ones or will I be able to download them at the same time. Not real sure on how the eTrex will work. I just bought it off ebay and don't have it yet. Thanks for the help.
  8. Ok We have a trip coming up from Anchorage, AK down to Alabama. Possible insanity you say I would probably have to agree just a little bit anyway on with the question. I am wanting to try and grab at least one cache in each state we go through hopefully more. The part that I am worried about is that I read somewhere that you were limited to 500 miles per route and I am looking at about 4000. I am trying to figure out the best way to accomplish this seeing as how I will not have any way to download new coordinates in-route. I have a Garmin Street Pilot C320 and Garmin eTrex Legend that I plan to use in conjunction with a Palm IIIxe which should hold a couple thousand, at least that is what I have heard. I Think I can probably limit the number of caches to 500 both requirements of my GPSr's and pocket query but I don't know how to get around the mileage limitation. Any help would be greatly appreciated and please feel free to let me know of any other suggestions.
  9. Hello all, Interested in purchasing a GPSr. Looking at the eTrex Legend, seems to have everything I am looking for, this will be a upgrade from my previous but is one of Garmins older units. I think. Problem is I don't know what a reasonable price is. They seem to be going for around $100 on ebay however most of these are new and I would be fine with a used unit. Please let me know a reasonable price and if anyone has one available.
  10. Here is a question for you. A little off topic maybe but anyway. If you find a cache that has been muggled and then replaced, haven't found it previously, can you better yet should you log it as a FTF. Just curious what others have to say.
  11. ok guys after about 2 hrs of pulling my hair out. installing/deleting/reinstalling and a little bit more of both of those for both palm desktop and drivers. I finally got it to HotSync and got cachemate loaded onto it. Turns out the hotsync icon down on the toolbar was set to usb and I started playing around with it and got it to switch over to serial. worked like a champ. Bad news now is I have to head to the dentist so I won't have a chance to try it out before I go to work today. Thank You to everyone for the help. For any new guys reading this trying to figure out paperless caching stick with it you will figure it out eventually. Once agian I would like to sincerely thank everyone for all the help that they provided for me. Happy Soon to be Paperless cacher
  12. tried to redownload the palm desktop from the link provided and it does the same thing. The exact error message is as follows The Error box title says HotSync Problem. within the box it says The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again. I tried contacting palm about the issue but they didn't want to even talk to me until I paid them the $25 service charge. I hope someone can help me figure it on here so I don't have to resort to that. All the help thus far has been greatly appreciated.
  13. Ok here is what is going on. I am currently at work and don't have all the information but I think I can answer most of it. The palm does not hotsync, when I push the button on the cradle it sits there for about a minute and the shows an error message stating that the palm was unable to connect the the pc(I think). I am trying to use a combination of GSAK and cachemate to transfer the data however, I have not been able to get the cachemate program on the palm due to the hotsync issue. I read somewhere that the newest version of the palm desktop would not work with windows xp and older PDA's but I cannont find anywhere to download a older program. The primary purpose for the PDA is going to be caching so I don't need all the bells and whistles. I just cant find the software. Sorry for the delay in replying. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

  15. ok guys I am still lost as can be. I know I am making this whole thing more complicated than it should be but here is what is going. I currently use the adapter cable for a garmin forerunner 201 and it works fine. Do i need a seperate driver for the palm pilot? It appears to be set up correctly as far as the ports go Device manager says COM3 and Hot Sync manager says the same thing. I have tried playing with it all afternoon and am heading out for a bit but any and all help would be greatly appreciated. SIGNED paperless cacher wannabe
  16. Ok so heres the question. I recently purcahsed a palm IIIxe off ebay to use for paperless caching. I have read several articles and think i pretty much have the process under control. The problem that I am having is I cannot get the palm pilot to link up with the computer. I am trying to use a patch cable to turn the serial connection into USB and I think the problem might the fact that it is not compatible. Any help would be appreciated. I am so ready to be paperless.
