  1. Okay, I feel like a bonehead. I got the geocaches showing on the map. I needed to zoom in more. I had the map showing about a 10 mile radius and they didn't show. I zoomed in to 5 miles and they popped up. Thanks everyone for your help!
  2. No such luck. They still aren't showing on my map. I have downloaded the GPX file both via GSAK and directly into my garmin/gpx folder. Neither put the geocaches on my map. Any other tips or is it time to contact Garmin?
  3. Now I get what you're both saying. I hooked up my GPS and I see the GPX folder. I redownloaded my GPX file from my PQ into that folder. When I view the map on the GPS, they still aren't showing. I'll play around with the map layers now. Auggies
  4. It's the only Garmin folder I have. I haven't used the SD card yet with the Oregon. Sounds like you are looking at the sd card drive part of the Oregon - make sure you are looking at the drive for the unit itself. (Although I believe it will also work if you create the folder on the sd card). Yes - the Geocaches should show up on the map.
  5. I just checked and my c:\garmin folder only contains a USB_Drivers folder. No gpx folder. Is this something you created yourself? When you download the gpx right to the Oregon 300, does it show up on the map? I am trying to get my pocket query to show on the map. I can do it if I click on one geocache and say go to - but it won't show all of them.
  6. I have read the manual and played around with my new Garmin Oregon 300 but I can't figure out how to get my geocaches to show on my map. Right now it only shows the geocaches in a list format. I'd prefer to view them all on a map and select which geocache to go to from there. Can someone help me set it up that way? Thanks in advance!
  7. Has anyone ever tried geosphere? I have read a bunch of threads on the itouch and I have no idea what to purchase. All I want is an app that will do exactly what my cachemate is doing for my palm. What I want in an app: cache name difficult ratings (hide and terrain) who hid the cache description hint past logs and a way to log that I have found the cache so I can pull up just that list later when I log it into geocache.com Any suggestions?
  8. I found me a pot o Gold and dropped off one in a cache in Vermont. #162
  9. I am very excited about this new magazine. For someone who has only been in the geocaching world for the past year (our anniversary is tomorrow). I still find myself lost at times. I'd love to see reviews on all the different types of geocaching products - from GPSr and Palm Pilots to Hiking Boots and Bug Spray. When I find a new geocaching friend, those are usually the questions I ask them - what products they use. I get a few magazines in the mail and I don't look at who the editors or article writers are, I think there's been alot of discussion around who the writers are, etc. For me, that doesn't really matter. I would just love an inprint magazine (even a newsletter would do) that is focusing on this topic. I don't get alot of time to read full length books anymore but I do love to pick up a magazine and read an article or two while eating breakfast or lying in bed.
  10. I'm looking to purchase a pair of hiking sneakers (female) for spring, summer and fall use. Any recommendations?
  11. How do we alert Geocaching.com that a Cache needs to be put up for adoption? There has been a maintenance alert on a cache we grabbed today (GC6299) and I looked at the owner's profile and noticed that he/she hasn't logged onto the website since 2004. Auggie
  12. I wouldn't be too worried about your numbers. I'm a new geocacher and I have talked to some cachers who have been around for many years - some with large find numbers (in the thousands) and some with lower numbers (under 100). I value all of their opinions and comments. Some people look at the numbers and do alot of the quick park and grabs while others like the 3+ difficulty levels and long hikes. Those take alot more time than the quick 1 leveled ones. So the numbers don't mean much to me.
  13. I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one having problems. With growth comes new challenges and I'm glad to see that GC is addressing them. I still think the price is excellent for what we get as Premium members - slow servers or not. Thanks for all you do!
