  1. Jeremy,

I noticed the formatting is gone on personal profile pages. I had pictures displayed on mine, and now they're just HTML.

    What's up?

  2. Is there a way to split the result up into two separate files for the user to join? (Even if it counts as two queries for the day?)

I'd rather have that than run two queries that overlap and result in less than 1000 when the duplicates are thrown out, not to mention the area would look more like an "8" than a circle.

Sure you can. Build one PQ of traditional caches and one starting at the same point for all other kinds of caches.

This is a solution to a point. The problem is that most caches are traditional (guessing around 80%). This will max out the 500 limit in a cache dense area and not reach out as far as I would prefer.

I only have one query on a Friday. I would prefer to manipulate one file and not have to be bothered with two. I thought computers were supposed to make things easier. I think this is a reasonable request for premium members.

As far as the too large of a file thing, some people have high-speed access. No one will be required to take the limit. The query filters allow this flexibility currently.

I have two GPSr’s, and they both hold up to 1000 waypoints. I live near three major cities that are cache dense. I’d like to have one query and not have to (at the last minute) create another query, (and wait for it in my mailbox) because I decided to visit one of these other areas.

Again, this seems like a reasonable request.

  3. I like micros and I like larger caches. What I do no like is micros in an area in which a regular cache will work. All this tells me is that someone did not want to put the expense into hidding a regular cache. It's not that hard to hide a regular cache. on another point, when some one hides a cache that is a half in larger than a film can, Call it a micro, it is not a regular cache when you can not fit a pencil into it.

I agree with the above statement. Don't hide a micro where you can hide a pregnant elephant. It's not fun looking in a million places in the woods for a micro. I've seen areas tore up pretty good doing this type of hide.

Micros provide more of a challenge that some people prefer. Micros can be placed near points of interest that a regular sized cache can't be easily hidden from muggles.

    Nothing wrong with variety.

  4. How many senior citizens over a 1000?

I know Genius Loci falls into this category.! <_<

Hey, Geogeek65: the last time I looked, only the number of FINDS was listed on my online logs, not my AGE!

If Groundspeak ever starts listing THOSE sorts of stats, I really am gonna quit!!!

Genius Loci still has a few good years left in him. At least he doesn't act his age. :D

  5. Bike thieves in Amsterdam beware. The cops are using bikes with hidden GPS transmitters as bait.

According to Dutch police, in a land where there are more bikes than people, theft is a big problem. That's particularly true in Amsterdam where 80,000-150,000 are nicked every year.

According to Reuters, coppers want to see where the bikes are taken and if they are peddled (sorry) through the official shops afterwards.

Under a campaign to be launched in Spring, police will leave locked bikes with secret GPS emitters in Amsterdam's bike theft hotspots. Then they will monitor them from GPS receivers in their police cars.

According to a website campaigning against bike theft in Amsterdam, 40 per cent of bike thieves are professionals while 30 per cent are drug addicts who sell to pay for their habit. The remainder are usually impulsive thieves, sometimes students or drunks -- who steal a bike to get home.

  6. 2)I find it somewhat usefull but I can't get the contours to load. I have the DEM in my computer and have it converted but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help me?

I'm assuming you read this file ConvertSDTSData.txt. Follow it exactly. Make sure you put all data in the "USAPhotoMaps" root directory.

Elevation data will be displayed in the title bar using the mouse pointer. Contour lines will be toggled on/off using the 'C' key only on the photo map.

I never used this function until today. Pretty neat I must say. Good luck getting it set-up.
