  2. What is considered normal? I hate to open a can of worms, but I’m kind of curious of what happened with Dave Ulmer and GC.com. I’m in the dark….wouldn’t be the first time. GF ******************************************** Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
  3. ILAdmin has done a great job too. Quick approvals and helpful with suggestions for making a cache better. Give him a raise. GF ******************************************** Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
  4. The biggest thing to worry about caching at night is getting a stick in the eye. GF ******************************************** Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

  10. Personally I try not to worry about what other people are doing. I just worry about myself. I have no problems with people placing caches. The more the merrier. Some may be lame, but so what. The next one could be a gem. GF ******************************************** Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
  11. I look at this as an activity. GF ******************************************** Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

  15. While the storm clouds gather far across the sea, Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free, Let us all be grateful for a land so fair, As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer: God Bless America. Land that I love Stand beside her, and guide her Thru the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies , To the oceans, white with foam God bless America My home sweet home. God Bless America, Land that I love Stand beside her, And guide her, Through the night With the light from above, From the mountains, To the prairies, To the ocean, White with foam, God bless America, My home sweet home. I need about a dozen compasses, and don't want to spend a fortune, but want something that is useable. Any info on sources or if you have an old model laying around that you want to donate to a good cause, I would appreciate it. Thanks!! Have you tried ebay yet? The notion that a leaderboard, or even just stats, would create such a competitive environment that people would cheat is ridiculous. GC is based on honesty and the honor system. Cheater! 18. I'm happy everything worked out for this cache. Looks like a fun one. I have nothing but goods things to say about my local admin(ILAdmin). He/She has been very pleasant, and at times, helpful to work with. GF ******************************************** Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
  19. Cool idea, but prizes and awards would promote cheating. Plus, so far this site doesn't really acknowledge stats as part of this activity. Maybe one day. GF ******************************************** Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
  20. I'm interested in trying this. My PPC is using PPC2K2 so I guess I have to wait. GF ******************************************** Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

  23. quote:Originally posted by Life Journey:Thanks for all the replies. I didn't want to use both GPS at the same time - just be able to switch depending on where I was biking. I looked at Garmin's mount bracket, I didn't realize it was just $18 - I had looked at Magellen's first and just assumed they were both around $40 - but... How does the Garmin bracket work - from the picture I can't tell how you would mount the unit - nothing to hold it to. I liked the idea of the cell phone holder/bracket on eastern mountain sports, and may go that route after I get more info. I am also planning a visit to Lowe's. Basically - I have the mount part figured out - it is how to attach the unit to the part that attaches to the handlebar that has me stumped - I was looking for something from which I could make 2 different holders - one the size of the etrex and one for the Magellan - either of which would then attach to the mounting bracket on the bike - does that make sense? Also my idea was to mount the GPS on the bike cross bar rather than the handlebar, where I could just glance down and read it. Anyway - thanks for the ideas, I'll let ya'll know what I figure out. "I took the road less travelled by, and that has made all the difference" The eTrex mount comes in two parts. One part is the base that's mounted to the handle bar with one screw. Two varying thickness rubber strips are supplied for different diameter bars. The second part is a replacement battery cover with a slide lock mechanism that protrudes from it. It slides into the base from the front and locks into place. I paid $15 for it from REI. Very happy with it. The price is reasonable too. 24. quote:Originally posted by sbell111:I guess I just don't see the point. Geocaching can be pretty fun and all, but it's not a competition. Since geocaches cannot be properly compared to one another, how would they be tallied. It just seems like an administrative and technical burden with little or no benefits. Those that are really into numbers will be able to complain about something new. What's the point? A leaderboard is not everything. How about stats like: Caches found today by state or major city. This is something I miss from Dan's site. I could easily see what the cache activity was for my area.
