  1. I dont expect this to solve anything, but this is an email I just recieved after asking the HHH metrodome if I could place a cache just outside: "This is in reply to your e-mail. Since the building opened in 1982, the Stadium Commission has been consistent in not allowing any activity on the site which is contrary to the wishes of the tenants. The tenants want a building with only items in it which are related to the operation of the Dome. Therefore, I must disapprove your request." A little vaugue? Maybe. Its not quite Wal-Mart either. The point is that places of business have policies that must be upheld. It wouldn't hurt anything if I would have placed it, but, in order to avoid any problems, I'm glad I asked. It certainly doesn't hurt anything.
  2. 1994 Murcury Cougar when I'm at home. The bicycle when I'm at school.
  3. Back in eighth grade, I was the nerdy little smart kid (is that redundant?). One of the kids was a "preppy kid" as we called them, and he liked to mock me. One day, he sarcastically called me the "Bunganator". Well wouldn't you know, I kinda liked that name. My friends all thought it was fun and he just didn't bet it. It eventually became my username for lots of things. Now 5 years later, and in the "grown up" college world, in is my caching name.
  4. I've heard that you can charm ANY snake with a simple recorder like many learn to play in 4th grade at school. With some practice, I bet you could get them to help you find the cache. Actually, in Minnesota, I've only seen a few very small snakes. Id like to see a Timber Rattlesnake someday, though.
  5. Garmin ETrex Legend. It is in the process of dying whenever I change the batteries and the rubber grip ont he outside is coming off. On the positive note, I am a poor college student who got it for $80 with discounts and coupons. I dont really car about the accuracy because, at most cache sites, there is so much inaccuracy from both the hider and the seeker that you get close enough to see some obvious places. I know other will disagree, but It gets me into the general area which is close enough for government work (if not closer).
  6. I will first simply stand over the cache and mark a point. Then I walk away and come back and see where it takes me. I will manually adjust the coors until I get some that from all directions gat me to the cache. Then I shut of my GPSr, turn it back on, get a new set of satellites and use the same marked coords. That way I get an idea of how far off people with other satellite configurations will be and go from there until I'm happy.

  8. There is one cache up in Duluth, MN were the cache has a lock and a key moves around, untracked, to caches in the area. If you are lucky enough to find the cache with the key, you can open the lock.
  9. So I like to cache and my girlfriend likes to bike, so this past summer she got me into biking. Now she enjoys caching as long as we usually bike. We've done state trails, city tours, and I even bike to all of the caches at college.
  10. Hmmm. Tricky one. First to Finds are just one aspect of the game. Some cachers love the thrill of seeing a new cache and wanting to race the local FTF hounds to it. Others don't care about the FTF, but have simply found every other cache near them, so they go do the new ones the day after they came out. Yes it is a nice thought to share the FTF wealth, and I'm sure it would be honored, but in the end, a smiley is a smiley weather you are first or tenth. Being handed a FTF wouldn't be nearly as exciting as beating out the cachers that sit in front of computers waiting for new caches. The way I see it, if a cacher wants to compete in the FTF aspect of the game, a valiant effort might be required. To at least try and answer the question, yes, it would probably be honored as cachers are usually pretty considerate. Here is a cache (along with several others of the same name) that has a very clever twist http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...62-fb181660a391
  11. My favorite parts are the puzzles. I only find the puzzles because I figure that if I spend all of that time solving it, I may as well find it. When it comes to hiding, I'd rather make a puzzle and let another cacher hide it. I'm more focused on finding caches, but I spend a lot more time creating or working on puzzles than I do at a cache site. (Not sure if thats good or bad)
  12. Why Are the Reviewers Giving Me a Hard Time About My Soul Cache? Because it is the most rediculous cache idea I have ever heard of, and I was criticising skirt lifters earlier. I know you don't force people to find your cache, but many people are offended by the simple action of making a "soal" a materialistic and capitalistic thing. I have no right to place judgement on another person and their actions, but seriously, there are much better things people can do with their time.
  13. I needed a hint from an owner on a puzzle and in return he asked for the final coords for a puzzle I solved and found. I know the cache owner of that one, so I shot him an email asking if it was okay for me to give him the final coords. I got the okay and did. As the owner of primarily puzzle caches, I would much rather answer lots of questions and give hints because it feels good knowing that people are at least trying your puzzle and want to get it. In the same light, I would rather be spoonfed hints until I get the answer than be given the answer. I like that moment of "A ha!!!!!" I know other cachers will tag along or be given puzzle coords by others, but some people are simply about numbers. I surely dont force anyone to solve my puzzles and find my caches, and I have no place to tell others how to play the game.
  14. I haven't found this, but I've certainly heard of it! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...f3-b5a306aa616d

  16. I've done my fair share of skirtlifters on roadtrips and such, but I generally think that shirtlifters are lame. There are so many places to hid a cache in this great world, so why would anyone hide one in front of their favorite Target store? It isn't about permission, its about fun, high quality caching.
  17. I believe King Boreas says it best on his GC profile "For the Geocaching "purists" and Geopolice: My "found" count includes multiple attended logs on event pages for temporary caches at the event. If this offends your delicate sensibilities, feel free to deduct for those finds- or even ignore the event cache logs completely. Better yet, just skip looking at my stats altogether. They are my own stats, for my own enjoyment- not for you to look at and judge how I play the game or your opinion of my personal ethics. If you don't like it, frankly I don't care." This applies to all cachers. Worry about your own caching experience and let others have theirs. They are only making it less fun for themselves. There would be little worry about them setting an example with their inexperience.
  18. A few months ago, 4 new caches came out three miles north of my college. I hopped on my bike and headed out. When I was 2 miles from school it started downpouring and I was soaked. I figured I would be wet anyways, so I kept going. Three DNF's, one ignore, and 2 hours later, I sat in my dorm wallowing in the failure.

  20. My brother and I Wrapped an ammo can with coords inside. Then my dad had to go search with his bad GPSr to find an ammo can with his brand new GPSr inside. I didn't expect my brother to do the same for me, but he did, and I found a premium membership!
  21. I'm actually sitting in Rome right in the middle of a study abroad trip. I've done a bit of caching here, but I have used the GPS more outside of caching that in. When I got here, I immediately marked the hotel. I also mark a subway station whenever I leave. It turned out that on my first two nights here, I was using my GPS to navigate several drunk classmates back to the hotel when we didnt know where we were on a map. All of the drunk ones told me how cool it was that I had that (never thought I'd hear GPS and cool in the same sentence). Of course they hardly remembered the next morning, but hey, they were safe and snug in their beds.
