  1. RedGlobe

    Milestones

Congratulations Fish Eagles on this VERY huge milestone (2000 finds) WOW and then on a brilliant cache. Well done
  2. There is nothing more annoying than a “deliberate cache thieve”. We know he is a Premium Member and don’t mind climbing mountain or solving puzzles just to remove all the caches on top of the Maggalies Mountain. Maybe we should just archive the caches and admit defeat?
  3. Every area has some good caches and not so good ones. Looking even at my own caches, we find that our good caches get a few visits a year even if it is with a low terrain rating, but the “road side” ones (like our Tonteldoos cache) get lots more visits (good or bad cache). So in short it looks like if you have a roadside cache (good or bad) it will attract lots more visits. RedGlobe prefers the hikes in nature, but doing a cache (or two) between meetings (road side) keeps me sane and ready for the next ugly meeting. We will do a power trail, but only in a group for the spirit that comes with it. Sorry Madsons but we will not help in hiding some caches in the “power trail” (for personal reasons) and we struggle just to keep up on our own cache maintenance.
  4. Maybe I missed something but realised that the OC do NOT support travellers (Coins or TBs). What will happen when a cache is listed on both GS and OC and someone left a coin using GS in that cache and a person using OC only visits that cache and remove the coin (trading for a toy) and now keeps it because he cant log it into another cache that is only a OC cache????? With some caches listed on both now this will be a major problem for our travellers!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Mmm RedGlobe is interested in a lekker nat Gorge hike....The previous hikes were a blast and will do it again...
  13. When we log a coin “TBPFT3” that we retrieved from a cache in Mpumalanga we noticed this coin was lost for four years. This proves there is always hope for our travellers....
  14. Sorry you will not be able to host a event if it’s for a arranged hunt of caches....please see a quote from the Guidelines... http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#event “An event cache should not be set up for the sole purpose of drawing together cachers for an organized hunt of another cache or caches. Such group hunts are best organized using the forums or an email distribution list.”
  15. Van Reenen?? I think it is a Noddy cache..
  16. We only received the photo from a “No number” with the following note - “final co-ord. will be given for CACHE SOME;)” I received some information from other cachers of likely “kidnappers” and over the weekend before our hike in the Magallies received our TB Cacher the “Voël” back in good shape (the kidnapper did not harm the voël, but only enjoyed handling him for a week). While the case files are still open and to protect the kidnapper from interference with the evidence, we decided not to name the kidnapper for now. If RedGlobe cannot look after a single TB.... how will we do with the huge numbers of trackable’s like FE or the Trickies? Or maybe some cachers take the word “discover” to a new meaning!!!! P.S. Maybe the kidnapper can add a comment to this posting!!!!!!
  17. The RedGlobe bird is missing from the weekend camping and we received this ransom note last night: We will appreciate any information on the whereabouts of our cacher TB bird.
  18. Is that how the WP trophy cabinet looks like???? Just dust everywhere....
  19. Fifth cache....GC2G1AW KLIPSPRINGER
  20. We confirmed this morning with John “JHC1” that all arrangements are in place for this weekend camping and the events arrangements for the weekend. He will park his caravan on Thursday and make sure of the stands set out for our weekend camping. The CITO arrangements are also confirmed. It’s GO....GO....GO, for the weekend.
  21. Hi Tiny Tiger Please see this document that Fish Eagle and GlobalRat put together ( http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=8a...61-9bfa148cd997 ). It will answer most of your questions but it will NOT help you “fooling the experienced hands”, this will take time.
  22. I had a discussing this morning with Tersia (Joos Becker administrator), and you don’t need to make any advanced booking for the camping weekend. We have set aside a block of stands (40 stands) for the geocachers close to the Lapa. On your arrival the weekend, please go to the office near the gate and state you are a geocacher camping and do the necessary payments for your stay over the weekend.
  23. Sorry Elsies we are already taking the “daisy chain events” rule to the limits and had discussions with Groundspeak with the current events. Next time
  24. The social event cache for this weekend is listed now (Thanks Fish Eagle for hosting) - GC2DXZW
