  1. Yeah But that's only for some ppl, I wouldn't want a bumper sticker, I'd leave it, I think a FTF has to be so cool, that no geocacher would leave it.
  2. Besides, as I said above, it takes no more effort or brain power to put it in the park across the street. Both are easy both take the same planing and procedure. I don't see what your argument is. And like I said, if you don't like them, don't do them.
  3. Lol, yeah As in scary? Or atleast Yelling or ranting. I coulda use flippin but I think it sounds worse.
  4. You know, have you ever thought that people like to hide and find caches in a parkinglot? Did you know there's prolly a park not far away we could put it in? we are not unimaginitive, this is what we like. It is just as easy to think or do. Put in under a rock or stick, put it under light flashing, park, parking lot. they are all the same, all close to one another. Maybe we prefer the cement sometimes? Or maybe we just like the fact that they are usualy out in the open, so you have to be real stelthy, or imaginitive and make it look like your doing somehting else.. Open the map, use your brain, don't do parking lots if you don't like them, stop complaing. It is obvious people like these types of caches cause they are there and people frequent them (usualy more often than regular caches). there is a park/greenspace not far from your parkinglot I assure you we could have placed it at. But no, here is the spot, if you can't handle it, maybe you shouldn't be cahcing? Or atleast not complaing about it.
  5. Yeah ok, I didn't call anyone anything, I said maybe's.. I offerd 3 things and you took the worst one. ALL I SAID IS I WANT A FREAKING EMAIL SAYING WHY IT'S MORE THAN 72 HOURS.. Or change the 72 hour guidline to how long it actualy is. Cause after 3 days (the time it is supposed to take) I start to wonder, now three times the time it supposed to take, emails send no replys. What am I supposed to do? ALL I ASKED FOR WAS AN EMAIL. don't read into something that's not there.. The example I was offering were offerd olny as examples of WHY I SHOULD GET AN EMAIL TELLING ME WHY IT'S BEEN 3-4 TIMES LONGER THAN STATED. I respect the reviwers, nd know that they are people with jobs and lives. But an email is all I'm asking for, and if you want me to look like I'm insulting a reviewer to get me in trouble or something, just take off eh.. All I want is an Email. Generic even "Hey we are real behind right now, we got your request, whatever". Don't make me look like a bad guy here, I don't know my reviewer, so I couldn't name names. I'm not calling anyone anything, just nameing possiblities and reasons they could email me and let me know. BTW, When someone uses words like "Maybe" and "Who knows" They are usualy offering examples or suggestions. Not stating wht they think or what they hold to be true. A little tip next time your talking to someone in english.
  6. You know, you are assuming the rest of the caching world thinks like you.. Thankfully they don't. If you do not want to find a cache in a parking lot, you rub your braincells together and click on that little map right there on your screen in front of your eyes and see that it's not in a gren space, it's in a grey space.. Don't go to it. Find one in a green space if that is what you want. Or you can rub your two braincells together and see that not everyone thinks like you do, and to LOTS of us, that film canister under the light post flashing is just as fun and good as a small rubbermaid container behind the tree under the rock. Just because YOU don't like it, doesn't meen it's wrong.. I don't like G. W. Bush. But but for some reason everyone voted for him. Maybe I'm wrong? lol ya right.
  7. My suggestion was hypothetical. The point was to get you guys to that certain kinds of caches would get hit very hard IF a "wow" test were applied to them. Sure there would be some ammo box casualties but every parking lot would also be emptied..... I think any cache that wasn't a FTF would be deep 6ed Where I live, there is nowhere you could show me where I would say "wow". I live in Beautiful British columbia. born and raised. We have one of the most, if not the most beautiful land on earth. (look it up if you think I'm just bragging) I've been to other countrys, Even my own home doesn't make me say "wow" cause it doesn't get much better than where I am, and I grew up here. To me, your "wow" is my "meh".
  8. I guess I should have said that most micros won't hold 90% of the swag that is popular to trade. There are sub-micros that will barely hold the tiny logsheet. In fact you have to use your initials to sign these logs. Anyhow, it's nice that some people are making some decent mini-swag. So what about the second point I made about the "wow" test? Most micros wouldn't meet this test that was applied to virtuals....... Again, TPTB never stated that virts were being moved to WM.com because they couldn't hold swag. Further, if a 'wow' rule were to be implemented for micros, it would have to be implemented for other cache sizes, as well. I suspect that a great deal of regular-sized caches wouldn't pass muster. Ammo can covered by sticks? Who hasn't seen that tired old chestnut. Archive them all! BTW, who would be the arbiter of that rule? No doubt, I doubt many caches would pass a "wow test".. How many lock n locks you seen under a log or some bark? That and unless you are FTF or a few guys after the cache is going to be a normal cache with in days. after all the good stuff is gone, it's just another contaner under some rocks. Like I posted up there, if you are looking for swag, go online or something. The "WOW test" for me would be totaly aced if I went to work every day for 20 years and then one day, for the last 3 years there's been a micro cache in my parking lot?!? Wow. I passed it every day not knowing.. That's why people hung out there? Ohhh.. Wow.. To me That's much better than a box filled with stuff in a park somewhere. Although I like that too But the wow value is higher when it is an area you've been to many times not knowing it was there the entire time. apply to parks too, but more so for city scape as I am a city dweller Most caches around here are at most 10 mins walk from the car.
  9. Most micros wouldn't meet this test that was applied to virtuals....... yeah and I could say that %90 of the swag ppl trade is crap. so what? is the 1$ store trinket what you are going for? if so, you could save lots of time and money and just go to the 1$ store and buy something. cause you know you have to leave one too. Everyone knows "Please do not move or vandalize the container. The real treasure is just finding the container and sharing your thoughts with everyone else who finds it. IF YOU WISH, go ahead and take something. But please also leave something of your own for others to find, and write it in the log book." Swag is optional, so many people have 1000's of caches, most of them TNLNSL. I can understand if there is no logbook to sign, no container to find.. But this is not the case. a micro cache is no less of a cache than a midget is less of a man.
  10. Yeah my first cache had a unactivated micro geocoin as a FTF. The Girl who found it still hasn't activated it But what appeals to all geocachers? For me I would love to open it up and see a FTF silver Ring. I've got friends in the jewlery buisness, and I'm sure silver rings don't cost more than $20 each. But would anyone else want one? who knows.. Or a coffee card.. what if a kid finds it? you know, one thing that can't make anyone happy. Unactivated coins are prolly the best I think. I was also thinking the paperless caching setup. these things are sweet, I still own one but I bought mine 8 years ago when they first came out, when it was $300 lol now they are selling here for $20 and they will do everything your paper does now. It's palm os. So it runs TONS of games/apps/tools.. you can write in it all day long and never fill it up. There's another one here that has a keyboard on it insted of a stylis. I've got a new one now 24bit TFT LCD 320x320, 333mhz processor, 16mb ram, 32 mb onboard storage, 2g SDcard built in camera, speaker (for mp3's or divx/xvid) plays movies n all that. Usualy use it for caching only tho But yeah, I think paperless caching is a good Idea, saves trees/trash and pens. and these $20 ones are perfect, just b+w (4 tones) some even 16 (woo hoo) But there is a software out there I've got it too, for geocachers. Also it is a universal remote. You can install a program called omni remote. This program allows you to create buttons and give them names, then program them by ponting a remote control at it and making it learn the button. So once all your controls are enterd you can control your entire house from your palm I've even got my car stereo in mine I would fully load the palm first.
  11. I put Micro coins in micro's all the time, I've seen many micro's with scratch and wins. And have even seen coins with goal: Wants to visit as many micro caches as possible. Even pins are Ideal for micro's. Swag doesn't have to be large. Nobody said that particular caches shouldn't exist. I think they consider moving those kind of caches to a new website called "Microcache.com" There would be no 528 foot rule on this site; so film cannister caches could be as close together as people wanted! Imagine being able to go to Wal-Mart and lifting up every lamp post cover in the parking lot so you could bag 50-60 caches! Woo Hoo! My mistake. What you are saying is that only caches that you like should be allowed to exist on GC.com. Is that correct? I liked virtuals and now you need to go to another website called Waymarking.com to create new virtuals. This is because they were not actually caches that you could put swag into. Plus it was difficult to judge the "wow" factor. Micros have the exact same issues! You can't put swag into them either and there are tons of them that would not meet the "wow" test. So what's wrong with moving those caches to microcache.com or smiley.com? The logic is the same....
  12. Hey, I used to live in Texas too I lived in North richland hills and in lubbock. Anyways, I know caches don't always bring you to a nice spot, or even offer a good find/hunt but the fact is, it's not about bringing you to a nice spot, or making you think real hard to find it.It's about the fact that it has been sitting there in a packed wal-mart parking lot, for years while thousands of people walk right by it all the time, but you know where it is, you sign the log book (allong with the others who have found it) and move allong. The best thing about these types of caches is, usualy you've known the area for years before you find there is a cache there. You can't help but to think.. "Wow all this time, I walk by here every day". Also I think it's safe to say, if you are searching for caches in town, you are prolly not going to get the best view. or anything much better than a small park. Looking at the map before you go to the cache would have told you it was not in a green space.. If you don't like caches like that, why would you go to one? Also as for the flashing being dangerous, well some caches are WAY WAY worse than that, up sides of mountains, needs special security clearance in iraq. ect... And the entire perpous of Geocaching, is to hind and seek caches, they don't HAVE TO be in a green space, they can be in a back alley downtown. they can be in a tree in a park, or on a remote mountain range.. The fact that they are everywhere should show us that people will hide/seek them anywhere, and the general conception is, the more the better.. If I can hit 3 or 4 micro's in the city I have to pass through to get to the lake, then why not? More for me to find.. If you don't like the city scape. then don't do city caches.. Personaly I like Urban caching. It requires Many things greenspace caching doesn't. And is in many ways (to me) more fun. But I like all types of caches
  13. Just wondering, What a typical FTF Item would be (in a good cache) And what you would usualy fill a NEW release cache with. I was thinking FTF's would be something like.. FTF Coin UnActivated Trackable Geocoin Paperless caching setup (They sell old palm pilots here (brandnew) for $20) Actual Cash And other Items would be things like.. TB's/Geocoins Personal coins Pins key chains Basicaly you would want nice stuff in it when it is first released. Any other ideas?
  14. Definatly.. I included the name the GC# and the co-ords. Basicaly all of the info that is in the application.
  15. Ahh I see.. Yeah I'm very detail oriented.. (I even read the user agreements) I know I wouldn't have overlooked something like that. Any way of telling what number in the Que? or estimate how much longer? As I stated above, we want to release a bunch.. How long can I expect to wait?
  16. Yeah that's too bad. I'm sure it's just that I have a lazey reviewer or a BIG RASH OF CACHES are waiting to be reviewd... doubtfull since the last "Cache Blitz" in this area was 2004. I'm thinking they might have a problem finding someone in the area to review it? Who knows, that why my main point of this entire tread, is why don't they just send me an email and tell me why it's been 10 days and not 72 hours like they post. I'm begining to wonder IF it will even get reviewed at all.
  17. I've obviously added a note to the reviewer, 2 infact.. And there is no "box" to check to say it is placed and ready to go.. Rules state you have to have it placed before you even submit it.. but rest assured if there were a box that said ready to go, I would have checked it.
  18. Hello Groundspeek team, I'm writing this cause it's been 10 days since I"ve placed my cache GC10B7F. I have even send an email (at the 7 day mark) It's been like 3 days or 4 since the the email and still have not got any response.. Is anyone reviewing new caches? did you get my request? If you are waiting on something, or for some reason need more info or whatever, I wish you would sent me an email and let me know why, and not just Not review my cache. Lack of comminucation is frustrating, I can understand that you are busy, but one 5 seccond email saying "Real busy will get to it asap" or "need more info about such and such". As it stands right now, it's been there for a while and nobodys even looked at it as far as I can tell. Our Group plans to put out many new caches in the future, some planned events and some spur of the moment.. Will I have to wait over 10 days with no replys to my emails on all of my cache placments? Someone please take the time to talk to me. let me know what's going on and why it's been more than twice as long as the time you say it takes.
  19. I agree, All I want to talk about is the coin as I posted earlier today....... As for what I said, I said Tracking or not threre will be a coin, but since my goal is to have the coin trackable, I feel I should be able to talk about it here. Most people talking about coins they are GOING to make or are in the middle of making, also cannot prove at the time they have tracking, or are going to. I have already stated that YES I DO want tracking IF at all possible. And mearly stated the coin is comming out anyways if the tracking is not possible, if you ask me, it sounds like the tracking option ball is in your court And please DO close this thread down, I'm sure my coin would sell out. and I know people are not responsible enuff to SHUT UP, as I asked before... I only want people who want the coin to reply.. And then someone keeps going... I'm sorry I tryed to keep perspective, But I guess cause I'm a geo-newb or I'm not an admin, people feel they don't have to respect my wishes.. So be it.. But Don't point your finger at me, I was trying to dissarm the situation.. Anywas, This thread is CLOSED. Thanks to all the people who's maturity contributed to the closing of the thread. For all those interested in the coin, Watch for a new thread once the coins are done. And I don't want ANYTHING but Yes I'll buy X amount of coin(s) when the new thread opens. Thanks to everyone who didn't step out of line.. But I think we were out numberd by the immature people. And if it's so wrong, why was I told the artwork would be conciderd, and not just "No"? I'm sure you can't put booze in a cache too.. But there are many booze coins out.. And I have seen MANY modifications of the geocaching.com logo on MANY coins. I'm sure they are guidlines more than they are rules. I don't like the USA, For many vaild reasons, does that meen I'm allowed to pick your heritage apart? I don't want your opinion, I want to know if you want some coins. Grow up and get over yourself.
  20. If you live here, you know, marijuana is legal for medical use. You may also apply for a license to grow personal marijuana, And no you don't need a doctors note. And Yes it is very tolerated on all other acount.. They are busting grow ops like mad because of the fire hazard involved with wiring the lights, most grow ops do not wire to code. You can like I said get a permit (inspection of wire must be preformed) and it will solve these issues. Please people, from now on, keep this topic clear of personal opinions.. My question is not "who hates this idea and wants to argue with me about it?" it is "Who is interested in a coin like this?". IF you are interested in a coin like this, then please reply. If not, you are not helping anything. Please do not reply.
  21. Lol, you guys can say what you want, I don't care what people who don't want the coin think. So I dissreguard most of the comments made in a negitive way. Obviously if you don't use or agree with marijuana then you won't like this coin. Just like I don't drink and hate the fact that it is legal and MANY people do it. there are many alcohol related coins that I've not bashed nor ever will. The greatest thing about geocoins is that there are so many, you can choose the ones you like, and the fact that you take time out of your searching for a coin you want, to bash mine shows me something... BTW What is not acceptable in your country, may not be so bad in other countrys/provinces. Here Marijuana is legal for many reasons. And Just as someone loves booze enuff to make a coin about it, there will be a marijuana coin, like it or not. And I'm sure they would sell, if not faster than regular coins. That being said, Groundspeak has heard my request for said coin, and as told me they would review the artwork, and "consider it". The Icon would obviously not be a pot leaf. And the potleaf/pot referance will not be the major focus of the coin. Since however, our group is a marijuana based caching team, these coins HAVE to have marijuana referance, even if I can't get the tracking.
  22. The coins will be trackable on GC, I know there are many BC coins, but none I've seen like the one I want to make. Aswell as the tales side of the coin will be Marijuana related, (maybe a pic of a pot leaf if it gets approved) if not our Marijuana-referanced Name will be on it. (already aproved waiting on domain registry) The heads side will be the actual province of BC (haven't seen one like that yet) Some Glow in the dark too. 1.75" Black Nickel Hard enamel Custom Icon Trackable on GC only 250 being minted (about 200 to be sold / Promo's)
  23. I am using the other side for our caching group.. I'm in the middle of securing a website so I don't want to give out too much info. The reason I'm asking if people are interested, is cause I'm wondering how many I should have made in the first run. And in reply to the other person, yes I've only been caching for 2 or 3 weeks. But none the less I am dedicated, I love the sport, I have the money, and I want to contribute to the ever growing list of sweet geocoins while at the same time have a nice coin for our group. I was first thinking of making just 100 for our group and that's it. I was reading up and found that you can get back alot of your cost, and at the same time promote your caching team in these forums, storys of like 500 pre orders. As of right now, I can't post the artwork cause I need to secure the website first, nothing worse than some dork taking your domain before you can register and secure it. But once that's done I'll post the artwork. I am waiting on several quotes and have mostly completed the artwork. I just want a general Idea of how many people on this forum would buy custom coins.
  24. I'm looking to get a Geocoin (theme is British coulumbia canada) and was feeling the market. was wondering if anyone would buy.. They will be nickel, standard geocoin size. Trackable, full color and glow in the dark hard enamel. they will show the province of BC with a geocaching symbol over the lower main land area. the other side has not been created yet but is in the works.
  25. Heya, As a Local i can tell you that there are a good 20-30 caches in Richmond.Try using V7E 3K1 as the postal code and searching in a Five mile Radius.IF your staying in the steveston area thier are a handful within walking distance..Richmond(steveston) is a fairly Quite area,But you want to still use Caution if night caching,As steveston park can be a hangout to young "punks"(as i used to be one) If you need anymore info just let me know StonedCacher -Cytron
