  1. Then this would be a problem with cacher A, when caught or catching(sic), we usually stayed until the cache was rehidden or made sure we knew where the cache was (usually the other cacher will stay and rehide the cache). I have enough of a hard time remembering where I found the cache in the excitement of finding it when rehiding it that I don't want to have to guess. Heck, I have had a hard time finding a cache I hid when checking up after a DNF, old age and senility, getting the senility out of the way first Lol, yeah I agree, Definate communication break there. But reguardless. I still think I'd rather re-hide the cache than just hand it over.. I don't care if the cacher B watched me re-hide. I know what you meen about forgetting where to re-hide, I haven't had it happen, but I've been close! there was lots of snow here a few weeks back, some caches you had to dig for When the snow was just starting to fall, I grabbed a cache, and noticed it was a bit damp, and my car was parked 20 - 30 ft away so I brought it into my car to "warm" it up or try and dry it out a bit. When I went to replace the cache (half an hour later) there was half an inch of snow on the ground and it was hard to see anything!, but I found the spot after about 2 mins of lookin
  2. Heh, some cool storys here My main concern was if cacher A who found the cache before cacher B shows up. if cacher A gives cacher B the cache and leaves, how will cacher B know where to place it? The reason I ask is cause it's happend to a friend, they didn't think of the hiding place when they were handed the cache, Cacher A left. When they went to place the cache back in it's hiding spot they realized they didn't know where it came from. They put it back as best they could according to the hint, turns out they were wrong, but close enuff.
  3. So are you saying the other person is a geocacher? or isn't a geocacher? or that you don't know??? well since I called him seccond cacher, I was assuming he was a cacher. But as you stated.. You never do know. they could be holding a cellphone and playing a good con
  4. The only time I have ever met another geocacher while finding a geocache, I walked up to the two geocachers and the gentlemen handed it to me. I decided to keep going up the trail, because they had seen me and I them. I am actually thankful that they handed it to me, because the geocache was located on a steep incline (that I didn't know about beforehand) and I had a baby strapped to the front of me. I would have gotten it anyway, but it was nice that they were there! Lol, I'd like to see that! What would you leave the baby at the top of the hill? lol
  5. Well I was talkin if you don't know the next cacher ((s)he's a stranger) In groups, usualy one of us will find it, then we all sl.
  6. I've seen in logs and even heard storys from friends someone was already at the cache and they handed it to them when they were done. (you don't know the other cacher) Just wondering, is there a set way to handle such a situation? Should the cacher who first found it re-hide it and leave? Is it ok to hand the cache to the next cacher? Or should the first cacher treat the seccond cacher as a muggle and quickly dispurse when he see's the guy comming? If I had to guess, I'd pic the first one. I'd rather replace the cache in it's hiding spot before I'd hand it to the guy, what kinda fun would that be?
  7. No what I'm saying is "These people (the BCGA) Host an event where they claim to 'teach' People how to cache." Then why is it my coin was taken from the event and not logged? They obviously didn't teach them squat. For this, I blame the BCGA. It's a bad setup, Bunch of nobbs in one place, promiss you're gonna teach them about CG. Don't teach them crap and let them loose on a bunch of caches, it is obvious something will go wrong. I know someone who was there, and I was assured there was 'zero' teaching of the newbs. This is why BCGA is hurting.
  8. BCGA is hurting. They have this "ABC's" of caching, where they "Teach" people all about caching. Well it's obvious to me that they do a very poor job of it, and use the event to drum up new members and spam geocahcing to any idiot with a GPS. Maybe even some without. It is obvious they don't "teach" anyone anything about caching cause my coin (allong with some other trackables) were stolen from the event. taken out of the cache and never logged. If it was up to me, I would never want my coin at such an event, but I had no choice where the guy who had it last placed it, even if it was a very poor choice. It's obvious BCGA's lack of "educating" these noob cachers THEY brought to the event led to my coin being stolen, therefor I hold BCGA responsible. For Sucking up any noob they can for a member without making sure they arn't ruining the sport first. One of you Noob cachers you "educated" was obvously not educated enuff cause he'she stole my coin. And you claim to have "taught" them.. BCGA is a sham, they only want members, they don't care about geocaching or the players of the sport.
  9. Heh are you sure? you don't think the rolled cardboard tube would be a good Idea for a cache? Don't you think it could make it through nine months of rain out of a year?
  10. I was just wondering if this would be a good cache container for where I live (it rains 9 months out of the year here).. It's a Hot chocolate powder container. It has a metal bottom and a plastic lid, the container itself is made out of cardboard (thick paper).
  11. I am trying to keep the hate mail out of my cache logs and coin logs. Please use this thread for all hate mail to the stonedcachers. Some reasons you will see people hating me. 1 I called a guys cache crap, it was placed in the hight of rainy season in a cardboard containor and had been there for nine days and was turning to oatmeal... I called it crap, this is prolly where most of my hate will be comming from. 2 I said I think maybe whoever reviews my cache might be lazey, but who knows. this was construded as me saying someone I don't know nor have ever had any dealing is lazey. 3 The guy who's cache I called crap, replaced his cache, with a NEW CACHE. and NEW NAME. I posted my find as a find cause of the new cache and name. The owner says I'm posting multi finds for the same cache. That's fine he removed it. his choice (even tho it was a new cache replacing an old one). But some other guy jumps into the cache logs and starts flaming me telling me what's what assuming I don't know anything. Basicaly trying to make me look bad.. 4 I smoke Marijuana and so does my entire group of cachers. Lots of people attack this right away. So Whatever you've got against me, here's the place to say it! not in a log. thanks to all the people who use this and not the logs..
  12. Hurrah! You've solved your problem, also. No you have not. Instafar and TrailGators did. Perhaps you should suggest that in the GC.com Web Site area of the forum. That's where site enhancement requests belong. Of course, it's been asked for and denied in the past. Good luck. LoL
  13. Since when did you become the geocaching expert, with 20 finds, and a month's worth of caching? Perhaps you can quit smoking the "green stuff" and start paying attention in English class, so we can decipher what you're actually trying to say. Your spelling is atrocious. You know, a person can spell a word or two wrong. It's ok and it is not a reason to laugh at a person. You have no idea if I smoke it or if I'm just "ok" with it, or even if I sell it to your mother. You have no idea who I am. It's real bad when you have to make fun of other people. Must make you feel like a real boy hu?
  14. Ya right to what part? And yeah. I was actualy comparing you to retards, since you were the one having trouble reading what I'm typing. And No, I said ideal for them, don't put words in my mouth. And fianly, if that's what the thread is about then why are people bashing parking lot caches? Like I said before as long as you attack it, I will defend it. you know you'll loose cause I"m right, and that's all that matters. Ya right! So you defend your spelling and grammar by comparing it to the abilities of disabled people? Real classy. So handicapped people are not worthy of caches better than parking lot micros? Who said anything about finding a green space. The debate was about finding nice spots to place caches, like historical spots, and hidden musuems that most cachers were unaware of. That might be the case, but they should have an attribute that makes them easier to filter out.
  15. Hurrah! You've solved your problem. Lol I don't see what the problem is here? You don't like them, ok. So what? You are better than someone cause you hid yours in a tree trunk and he hid his in a parking lot? You are making the sport worse by placing a cahe in a parking lot? That's rubbish and everyone knows it.
  16. You know, you had better hope that this is a new account created for a new geocaching group made up of people who've been caching for years. Cause if it's not, then some newb is making you look like a fool.. lol Even a half retarded blind deaf mute could understand what I'm saying, and know that it's true. And because I type fast, ignore typeo's and can't spell every word correct, doesn't meen you are better than me, and most of all doesn't make me wrong. I suggest you take time and think about how big the caching community actualy is. Not everyone can go off in the woods, some cachers can't even walk. Seams to me a parking lot would be ideal for them. Some people live in a place where every park already has a cache (and there are not many parks in the town) and the rest is all city. Have you ever been to the lowermainland of british columbia. It's like living in dallas and saying "lets find a green space" not many parks, lots of cachers. Here we have LOTS of parks and LOTS of greenspace, so most caches are in a "wow test" approved area. That's why I like City ones, they are rare, they are cool, and the "WOW" is there for me more when I think of how many people actualy walked right past this one, some of them every day for years... Unlike the greenspace where it's off the trail in a well hidden spot, where few people would actuly stumble upon it. They are both great for diffrent reasons. I say all you have to do is look at the little map on the side of your screen when your looking at the cache's webpage and you can tell if it's a green space or if it's paved. Use your mellon, figure it out. Micro caches in parkinglots are here to stay.
  17. So do the owners of the caches that you complain about. At the end of the day, the only standard that anyone should go by when hiding a cache is whether they would like to find it. If you stick to that standard, your cache will be successful. So with that logic, if someone likes finding caches near smelly trash dumpsters, then their smelly trash dumpster cache will be successful? Well here's a hint, if you don't want to do a cache near a smelly trash dumpster, don't do it. I'm not a genious or anything but I'm sure you should be able to figure or if you want to do it or not. The fact is a parking lot is not a smelly cache dumpster. And if it were I could name a few other caches that are near a dumpster, or worse landfills. And yes chances are, if enuf people start to like smelly trash dumpster caches, they will pop up. I suggest deal with the trash or don't go to it. I personaly love smelly trash dumpster caches.
  18. Well First off, TV is WAY past geocaching. Seccond of all, how many "breath taking awe inspiering wow" spots do you think there is in one town? Chances are people know about it, And to me a story about a film container hidden in the city beats out a ammo box in the woods. To me that place the news crew shows up and films, is just a background. There is no one place on earth you could do a documentry about caching from that would make me say "Wow caching is the best in the world, look at that view" If you want the view, go do virtual caches. People are more interested in the hunt and the find, They want to find and sign the logbook more than they want to take the dollar store item that's in it, or the park in your own town you already knew was there.
  19. I just finnished pointing out, all that applys in a parking lot. you have choices of container, you have many choices of placment, yes you can even cammo it to look like part of the sign, or part of the fence. Yes it does take the same effort, tell me how it doesn't? just cause it's a parking lot and not a park? you will put just as much effort in to either and you can't prove it to anyone any way. The size totaly does matter, Maybe it is a micro or even regular sized coin exchange hub cache. It needs to be a bit bigger (old pill bottles) or you started it out with coins in it.. Maybe it's a standard micro with just a logbook and a pencil, in this case all you need is a film container, maybe it's got to fit in a crack in the curb, or a notch in a fence/tree. then you can use a pill shaped (micro) micro. You obviously don't know or care to learn that greyspace caching is just as hard/easy as greenspace caching. Your point/argument is invalid. Please re think your reason and try this argument again or call your mama to help you. This is a recording.
  20. For sure, But elimination one area of caching is not the answer, cause it only serves to show that this is what people want, diffrent ppl like difrent things.. Maybe the best cache would be that that starts off in a parking lot that you get the numbers for another location say a park, where you get the location for something else like a lake or a river or mountain or wahtever. I don't think 1 cache could win over the hearts of every cacher, that's why we have so many diffrent kinds/places.. cause when you're talking about "people" you're talking about a great number of personal beings. The best thing you could possible come up with is everything. and that's what we have
  21. Yeah the Might and the Who knows.. Don't be an antaganist plase but out.
  22. So now you're only a good cacher if you place a regular sized cache in a park? listen buddy, Not every parking lot has light poles with flashing, you thought of that? Not all are under light post flashing, I've found many under signs, bushes, poles, fences. It takes no time to find a tree off the trail throw a contaner on the ground behind it and cover it with some bark.. I still don't see your point, it takes the same effort. There are also many diffrent sizes of micro's ranging from tiny pill capsuls to bigger medication bottles that will fit lots. You have lots to choose from. You also have to wory about people finding it (or not). And as I said before just because you are easily impressed with "sceanic wonders" to me they are just trees. Nothing I haven't seen before. Just because you don't like it doesn't give you the right to bad mouth it. and as long as you do I will defend it. I think you'll find lots of us will. Even people who don't prefer it, are defending it.
  23. Hahaha, yeah what is this Geo-Caching you are talking about.. Look pal.. Who are you to assume anything about anyone? You don't know us. We could have hunted many clever caches, many greenspace caches, and many grey as well. you don't know.. Maybe we should banish greenspace caches to a diffrent website or something? I've got some valid reasons... I Have to wear boots cause they trail is dirt/mud. I have to clean my feet before I get back in my car. I'm walking into a greenspace alone (sometimes at night). Sometimes I might have to hike or climb. Sometimes the terrain is rough and you could fall or slip. break something or die. sue the website. I'm constantly destroying nature evertime I take a step off the beaten path. Green areas change fast and constantly, in a couple of months the place won't look the same, and your cache could get burried. You could be walking the greenspace and someone steals your car. You could in the greenspace and a tree could fall on you (and yes it would make a sound) The fact is, people like it anyways. and so do I.. Don't bring up rediculas reasons why you don't like it.. Not everyone thinks like you. as much as you don't like it, I and MANY others... Looks like more people like them than don't.. Do like it. That being said, I don't know what you're complaining about, just don't do them.. You arn't going to stop people from placing them. Does it honestly bother you that much just knowing they are there? Just ignore them, don't do them. And again DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THEM. They are there, and the fact that YOU don't like them (despite fact that more people like them than not) is not going to stop people from placing them there. Any moron could figure that one out. someone should prolly close this thread cause it's obviously irellivant.
  24. Never been lost than god, been close a couple of times, but usualy I've got a good Idea where I'm going
