  1. That is very cool. Will you be able to log your caches from that phone too? --RuffRidr
  2. Here in Arkansas, the best season for caching is coming up. It's normally too hot to cache in the summertime, so that's when activity drops off. However, this summer has been unusually cool. Also, the tree cover in the summertime makes it a pain. Also, between get-togethers, family vacations, weddings, etc. it seems like the summer is always too busy. It won't be long before I have free weekends again. To me, the Geocaching season is just starting! --RuffRidr
  3. Ya, inquiring minds want to know! --RuffRidr
  4. Great idea! I hope TPTB implement this for you. --RuffRidr
  5. Hello, We've been trying to get our organization listed on the Local Organizations section of the Arkansas state page. Our organization is the Arkansas Geocacher's Association (http://www.arkgeocaching.org) I know members of our organization had received emails from both Nate and Hydee, and it sounded like there was some changes in the works. This was, however, over a month ago. Can we get an update on this? We are looking forward to the added exposure that this listing will give us. Thank you, --RuffRidr
  6. I think Jeremy's implementation takes care of all of the concerns that have arisen in this discussion. I'm glad to see innovative new features show up on this website. Keep up the good work Jeremy. --RuffRidr
  7. Here's a link to the Arkansas Geocacher's Association. This one is kinda in its infancy, but is getting larger everyday. Arkansas Geocachers Association --RuffRidr
  8. Bump. I like this idea as well. --RuffRidr

    Server Too Busy

We use Radware here where I work. Very similair to the stuff from F5. It is pretty sweet how that stuff works. Here if our firewalls, webservers, etc. get overloaded, we can throw another one together and put it behind the Radware and it instantly grabs off some of the load. Cool technology. Not cheap. --RuffRidr

I'm curious as to what kind of firewall you are using (hey I'm an IS Security Analyst) and what platform it runs on. Anyway, I can understand if you don't want to answer that question, some companies are touchy about giving that out. Hell, if I poked around a bit, I could probably figure it out myself, but I know better than to do that kind of thing. --RuffRidr
  11. Sounds like a work in progress. I can't wait for this new functionality. --RuffRidr
  12. I'm with the previous posters. I know that I have done everything legit in finding my finds. How others do theirs is up to them. If I was a cache owner and found out about it, I might be inclined to delete some logs, however. --RuffRidr
  13. I agree, this is the most informative thread I've read in a long time. Last night I went through the gpsstash archives and it was pretty cool reading about some of the issues brought up in this thread, as well as the beginnings of the sport and this site. I think it would be cool if you made this thread a sticky, and retitled it "Ask Jeremy". --RuffRidr
  14. Sure you can. Have the traditional icon be the same, and have the micro icon be the same except smaller. There, now you can easily tell type and size. --RuffRidr
  15. If ain't broke don't fix it. I think its fine the way it is now. --RuffRidr
  16. Reading through the logs of this cache they do openly accuse them of trashing their cache. Wonder what their proof is? --RuffRidr
  17. Sounds kinda like "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?". --RuffRidr
  18. I also think that the power trails are kinda lame. I would much rather do a cache to see a cool location, than do a bunch to up my numbers. And yes this is coming from a person who is very interested in stats and would like to see them on this site. Now if it was in my area, I'd probably still do all the caches. Not because I'd like it, but just because I try to do all of the caches in my area. I'd definitely let the owner know in the log that I thought it was kinda lame, however. --RuffRidr
  19. What happened to Woodsters? He used to have a post in almost every topic. --RuffRidr
  20. Is there a adobpt-a-highway program or something similair here? If a road crew came by searching for litter, they might find your cache. Make sure that it couldn't be confused as litter, or hide it so they wouldn't stumble across it. --RuffRidr
  21. Since you're going through Kansas, maybe you'll want to add this cache to your itinerary: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=48 It's currently the oldest active geocache. --RuffRidr
  22. I wouldn't have removed it either. There was a cache around here that went a long time with no one finding it. It was kind of a hard one to get to, but I think everyone just assumed it wasn't there after a while. Then when one person finally found it, the floodgates opened. Within two months there was a half dozen logs on it. I was one of the ones who logged it, and it has been one of my favorite caches. --RuffRidr
  23. I miss this functionality also. Too bad Skydiver's notification doesn't work anymore. Buxley's works OK, but it can sometimes be a day later before the cache shows up on there. --RuffRidr
  24. That's not true. It's just that using the word "cheater" is already a weekly occurrance and quite honestly I could do without all the inane accusations, insults, and unsportmanslike behavior that I belief a new leader board would generate. Sure, it' just a game or a hobby, but there are people who take it too seriously already and I don't want to be here when they start really accusing people of upping their find counds. This rarely happened when Dan's site was online. I don't see how that would change this time around. --RuffRidr
